Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn said in a conference call Tuesday that the team hadn’t seen the particular fake field goal the Seattle Seahawks attempted on Monday night. However, Grady Jarrett and the defense was ready for it.

The Seahawks trailed the Falcons 24-17 as the first half ended and lined up for a 34-yard attempt, but Jarrett didn’t bite.

The Seahawks tossed the ball to tight end Luke Wilson, who was met almost immediately by Jarrett and stuffed near the line of scrimmage.

“We weren’t exactly sure which one could happen, but it was kind of on our radar,” Quinn said on the conference call. “As far as Grady going across it was part of that play design to make sure you’re back in balance and he just happened to make that really good play when the guard pulled to lead out as the lead blocker.”

Jarrett, the defensive tackle, had one sack and three combined tackles during Monday’s 34-31 win over the Seahawks, continuing what Quinn said has been an active few weeks for the former Clemson Tiger.

“He was active again in the tackles for loss department in that part of his game has been really intact,” Quinn said. “He’s been a disruptive player inside all year, so I pumped at that kind of play, that kind of quickness. That’s his kind a play where he’s on the move and is able to beat somebody to the punch with his quickness.”
