After winning the program’s first Big South title with a 52-21 win over Monmouth, Kennesaw State will host Samford on Saturday for the Owls’ first appearance in the postseason.

The first round 2017 FCS Playoff  game will kick off at 2 p.m. at Kennesaw’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium and can be viewed on ESPN3.

Kennesaw State (10-1) was one of 10 conference champions to earn an automatic bid to the 24-team playoff field. Below is a video of the moment the Owls discovered they would host Samford during ESPN’s NCAA FCS Selection Special on Sunday.

The Owls opened the season at Samford on Aug. 31 and suffered their only loss of the season, 28-23.

The winner of Saturday’s game will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. to take on No. 3 Jacksonville State on Dec. 2 at Burgess–Snow Field at JSU Stadium.

Monmouth (9-2) was also selected for the playoffs and will play on the road Saturday at Northern Iowa (7-4).

The other two teams making their first playoff appearances are South Dakota and Central Connecticut.
