Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.
In his third season at Georgia, Smith recorded 113 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, two deflected passes and two fumble recoveries.
After Saturday’s win over Auburn in the 2017 SEC Championship, Smith was named MVP of the game.
The Defenisve Player of the Year honor is one of several Smith has racked up this season including the 2017 Butkus Award that he was given Sunday night at the Georgia Senior Awards Gala.
