Timeline: History of Mercedes-Benz Stadium


The new home of the Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, has been in the making far longer than when the team first broke ground on a site just south of the Georgia Dome in 2014.

The opening of the new stadium, which had been set to first open in March 2017, has been delayed several times by what the team has associated with steel structural issues.

Stadium delays anger fans

The new opening date for the facility is a Falcons exhibition game on Aug. 26.
