The Packers could be without multiple key players because of injuries when they face the Falcons in the NFC Championship game Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Three of Green Bay’s wide receivers are dealing with injuries, including No. 1 target Jordy Nelson. Also, two of the top five players in the defensive backfield are ailing, including starting safety Morgan Burnett, after that group has been thinned by injuries all season.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy, speaking to media in Green Bay on Friday, said all three wide receivers and Burnett could be game-time decisions.
“They will be given every chance to play in the game, so if we know tomorrow, we’ll know tomorrow,” McCarthy said. “If we know Sunday, we’ll know Sunday. I’m going to give these guys the open time frame to do everything they can today. So probably maybe one or two of those guys may have to work Sunday before the game.”
Nelson is doubtful to play because of fractured ribs he suffered during the wild-card round. He didn’t play in last weekend’s divisional game against the Cowboys and practiced on a limited basis Thursday before sitting out Friday.
Davante Adams, the No. 2 wide receiver, is questionable to play because of an ankle injury suffered against the Cowboys. Wide receiver Geronimo Allison, who has been productive since earning playing time late in the season, also is questionable because of a hamstring injury.
Burnett (hamstring) is questionable to play after he couldn’t finish the Cowboys game and had only limited participation in Friday’s practice. Cornerback Quinten Rollins (neck/concussion) has yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol.
