Former Falcons defensive end Dwight Freeney is one of the NFL's 10 best available free agents, according to the Sporting News' David Steele.

At 37 years old, Freeney isn’t the dynamic playmaker he was when he was racking up double-digit annual sack totals over 10-plus years with the Indianapolis Colts, but he’s a veteran presence on the line who notched a sack in the Super Bowl for the Falcons last season.

Steele writes that Freeney wants to play at least one more year, and the Falcons are open to the idea of bringing him back for the right deal.

In 2016, Freeney finished the season with 3 sacks and 7 tackles in 15 games played. He has played in three Super Bowls and recorded 122.5 sacks during his 16-year career.
