Falcons’ cheer auditions for 2017 under way

Under the guidance of longtime Falcons cheer coordinator Chato Hendrix and choreographer Jakene Ashford audition preparation classes for the 2017 Atlanta Falcons cheerleader squad have started.

12 key offseason dates for Falcons

The classes will provide candidates with an overview of the program along with a brief question/answer session and teach dance combinations similar to those performed during the games. The Falcons offer several class options. One participant from each class will automatically advance to finals.

Classes will be taught by the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders staff and current cheerleaders. The March 11 and April 1 classes will be held at Windy Hill Athletic Club, located at 135 Interstate North Parkway SE in Atlanta.

The auditions for the 2017 squad will be held on Sunday, April 2, with a $35 non-refundable application fee.

Falcons’ addition of LB Duke Riley keeps LSU pipeline open

Duke Riley probably had an idea the Falcons were interested in him, and the former LSU linebacker wasn’t surprised in the least Friday evening when Atlanta used the No. 75 pick of the draft to select him in the third round. He was flat-out excited. The quickish Tiger from New Orleans was one of about 30 college players to have private, pre-draft...

They also have three picks in the fifth round — 149th, 156th and 174th. The Falcons traded up to select UCLA defensive end Takkarist McKinley with the...

The round drew an 8.2 Nielsen rating in the Atlanta market, meaning 8.2 percent of the homes – or about 198,000 homes — watched on average. That included a 5.9 rating on ESPN...
In this draft, DQ’s Falcons get more DQ Guys
In this draft, DQ’s Falcons get more DQ Guys

The Falcons could have accepted this draft as it fell and been a really good team in 2017 and beyond. They were already stacked. But sitting still wouldn’t have been the DQ Way. In DQ’s mind, you travel at warp speed or you’re a sloth. Said general manager Thomas Dimitroff, speaking the day after the Falcons traded three picks to...
Falcons top pick McKinley makes name for himself
Falcons top pick McKinley makes name for himself

Takkarist McKinley seems quite sure of the person soon to be wrapped in a Falcons jersey. Yes, inside that jersey beats a racing heart and a combustible disposition. Good qualities for a pass-rusher, if not for a master of ceremonies. If that means during the most significant moment of a turbulent life, he lets loose with a couple R-rated expletives...
