Cowboys hope to see progress from Dez Bryant on Thursday

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett conveyed some optimism about wide receiver Dez Bryant on Thursday.

Bryant had to leave last week’s contest against the Kansas City Chiefs with an ankle injury and is also dealing with a separate knee issue. However, the Cowboys are hopeful that he’ll be able to practice on Thursday in a limited fashion, giving him a chance to be able to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

“We’ll just see how he feels,” Garrett said according to David Helman of DallasCowboys.com.

Of course, Bryant is integral to a Dallas Cowboys offense that may not have Ezekiel Elliott available pending a decision on his appeal of the six-game suspension he was given earlier this season for domestic violence. So having Bryant available is going to be of critical importance as the offense begins leaning on the passing attack more frequently in the even of Elliott’s absence.

The Cowboys will be required to release their official injury report on Friday, where we should get a better feel for whether or not Bryant will be able to play in Week 10. However, having him practicing on Thursday significantly increases the chances that he’ll be able to go when it matters this week against a fellow NFC opponent.
