Cowboys OL Chaz Green ‘ready to go’ if Tyron Smith can’t play Sunday

The Dallas Cowboys tough matchup with the reigning NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons may get just a bit tougher. Star offensive lineman Tyron Smith is dealing with a groin injury, and in turn, could wind up potentially missing the Week 10 matchup.

But, as ESPN’s Todd Archer reported, Chaz Green, who opened the season as the starting left guard, made it known that he’s ready for action.

“Every week I prepare as if I have to go in the first play and be the starter the whole game,” Green said. “That’s my mindset each and every week, so this is the same as every week. I’m ready to go.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that Green stepped in for Smith, as he played two games last year in his place. Green then, unfortunately, suffered a foot injury and eventually went to injured reserve due to the need to have back surgery.

Overall, Green has been dealing with injuries recently, but the talent is unquestionably there. Now, we may get to see just how ready he is to produce at a high level once again in 2017 if Smith can’t give it a go this weekend.
