After weeks of uncertainty, Alfred Morris of the Dallas Cowboys now knows that he will receive a good percentage of the snaps at running back, for at least a few weeks.

Cowboys starting running back Ezekiel Elliott’s appeal for an injunction on his six-game suspension was denied on Thursday by the 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He will begin serving his suspension on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, and will not have another appeal hearing until Dec. 1.

This case has been going through courts since September, and the suspension has been reinstated multiple times before another injunction is issued by a court that allows Elliott to play. With Morris assured of significant playing time, he is ready to take advantage of his time on the field.

“I’ve always been one of the those guys who, the more I do, the better I get,” Morris said, via the Dallas Morning News’ Brandon George. “It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out as I’m able to get going sooner & then as the game goes, continue to get better. I’m kind of excited to see what that will look like.”

When Morris originally signed with the Cowboy prior to the 2016 season, it was to be their featured running back. However, Elliott was drafted fourth-overall that offseason. Elliott started in all 16 games, and led the NFL in rushing.

Morris is an unrestricted free agent after this season, and if plays well with Elliott out, he may find a nice contract coming his way from a team looking for a new featured running back.
