Arizona Cardinals safety Tyvon Branch is reportedly done for the year with a torn ACL, which was suffered while he tried to defend Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham.
“ Cardinals S Tyvon Branch suffered a torn ACL last night, source says,” reported NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. “Rough night for Arizona.”
He wasn’t the only one. It looks like tackle D.J. Humphries has the same injury. That means two players are lost for the year in a single mid-week game.
“Bruce Arians said last night the team believes T D.J. Humphries tore his ACL when he got rolled up on,” Garafolo added. “Knew that one was way too similar to [Philadelphia Eagles tackle] Jason Peters.”
It’s also worth noting that the Seahawks didn’t get out of it unscathed. They lost cornerback Richard Sherman to what appears to be a ruptured Achilles tendon.
“Pete Carroll says Richard Sherman ruptured his achilles, according to team doctors, and is likely out for the year,” wrote NFL Network’s Omar Ruiz. “Can’t come back from that until after surgery.”
When the dust settled, the Seahawks got the win, 22-16. They moved to 6-3 on the year, while the Cardinals fell to 4-5. However, with so many big losses all over the field, neither team can feel great about how that one played out.
Sherman is trying to stay positive.
“Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers!” he wrote on Twitter. “I will do everything in my Power to come back faster and stronger than ever. Until then I will be here to cheer my teammates on! I sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support! Means a lot to me.”
