Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has his team off to another strong start without the aid of a solid rushing attack.
Wilson has guided the Seahawks to a 6-3 record while they’ve played five different running back and he is the team’s leading rusher.
Wilson is ranked in the middle of the pack of starting quarterbacks, according to analytics website Football Outsiders.
They evaluate quarterbacks according to a defense-adjusted yards-above-replacement (DYAR) measure, and Wilson’s 326 rating ranks 15th in the league. (Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is rated eighth at 594.)
They also rank the quarterbacks according to the defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA), and Wilson’s 3.2 percent ranks 18th in the league.
Wilson leads the Seahawks in rushing with 290 yards on 51 carries and one touchdown.
Wilson has completed 210 of 335 (62.7 percent) passes for 2,543, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has a passer rating of 97.4.
The Falcons don’t concur with Wilson’s relatively low ranking.
“He’s great at what he does,” Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn said. “He’s elusive. He can throw the ball while he’s on the run. We have a unique responsibility, but we’ve got to get him.”
