WATCH: 5-star Justin Fields says Jake Fromm is Georgia’s key for a national title

ORLANDO — Soon, 5-star quarterback Justin Fields will be fighting for playing time in Athens. But before that, he says it’s his eventual competition — freshman QB Jake Fromm — that will lead Georgia to a national championship.

“I think Jake’s going to have to do really well this game,” Fields said, “because Alabama’s physical, too. So hopefully Jake does well and we pull out the win.”

Fields — the nation’s top-ranked dual-threat quarterback — signed with Georgia during the early signing period in December. He’s predicting a Bulldogs’ win by a 28-24 margin over the Crimson Tide. But he’s going into this prediction a bit more cautiously than his prediction before the Rose Bowl.

“I was trying to hide from everybody,” Fields said about when Georgia trailed 31-14 against Oklahoma. “I was telling everyone we were about to blow them out. Looks like I had too much confidence at first, but they pulled it out.”

Now, can Bulldogs, Falcons keep pace with escalating expectation?
It was Georgia linebacker Davin Bellamy who first proclaimed the new order of things around here – at least the first I heard it spoken aloud. In the bitter aftermath of Georgia’s overtime college football championship loss to Alabama, just minutes after the diverse freshman connection of Tagovailoa to Smith lifted the Tide to another glorious...

Rookie road finally leads to playing time for Hawks’ Tyler Dorsey

Tyler Dorsey went from being a star for Oregon during its run to the NCAA Final Four to a spot on the end of the Hawks bench with a frequent-flyer card to Erie, Pa. Welcome to the NBA, rook. As has been the Hawks’ way under coach Mike Budenholzer, most rookies have been brought along slowly, with time to learn the NBA game and develop trust....

Notre Dame basketball: Relive the Irish’s 5 OT thriller against Louisville five years later

Call it the luck of the Irish. Tuesday night, when Louisville visits Notre Dame, the Irish will seek their seventh consecutive home win over their conference rival, a streak that dates back to 1994. That streak has contained several memorable matchups, but by far the most magical came in 2013, when Notre Dame defeated Louisville ...
