Former Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas was waived by the New Orleans Saints Saturday, but interest in the Yellow Jackets great remains.

Thomas flew up to New York Monday for a Tuesday workout with the New York Jets, who will audition him at wide receiver, returner and possibly corner, according to Thomas’ representation.

Thomas was signed to the Saints’ offseason roster in May after impressing the team in a tryout during its rookie mini-camp. He had been trying to make the team at wide receiver. Prior to signing with the Saints, he had also gone to the San Francisco 49ers’ rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis, but was not signed.

The Jets, whose roster includes former Tech defensive tackle Patrick Gamble, were one of three teams to show interest in Thomas after he was cut from the Saints roster. Pittsburgh, which was interested in Thomas after the draft, also wanted to bring him in, as did Carolina, according to a spokesman for Thomas’ agency, ESQ.
