Georgia Tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall grew up in Harris County surrounded by Georgia fans. So it was no small joy when the Yellow Jackets beat Georgia in Athens last year.

“Last year was great going home, knowing that we beat Georgia, and I got to rub it in on ’em for the whole year,” he said. “So it’s a huge rivalry.”

That being the case, Marshall knows what beating the Bulldogs on Saturday would mean, both to the team and to Jackets fans, particularly at the end of a frustrating season.

“Honestly, you win this one, the other ones don’t matter that you lost,” he said. “That’s really how it is. I mean, it’s Georgia. You’re the state champ. Nobody else will really care about the games you lost. That’s how I look at it.”

Marshall grew up playing on football teams with Georgia linebacker Tae Crowder in Harris County. The two spoke Sunday, Marshall said, and Marshall told him that his team would be ready for the Bulldogs.

“He just laughed,” Marshall said. “He was about ready to go lift, so I had to leave him alone.”
