Georgia Tech guard Josh Okogie earned his fourth award as ACC rookie of the week, two more than any other freshman in the league.

Okogie was selected after playing prominent roles in the Yellow Jackets’ wins over No. 6 Florida State and No. 14 Notre Dame last week. Okogie dropped 35 points on the Seminoles and registered career highs in rebounds (14) and assists (five) in Tech’s 78-56 win. Against the Irish on Saturday, Okogie was limited to 18 minutes by foul trouble, but scored the Jackets’ game-winning basket with a layup as time expired in Tech’s 62-60 win.

With two games of 30 or more points, Okogie became just the third Tech freshman to have multiple 30-point games. The other two were two of the greatest players in school history, Mark Price and Kenny Anderson.

The last Tech player to be named ACC rookie of the week four times was Derrick Favors in 2009-10. Favors went on to be named ACC rookie of the year. Okogie is the ninth Tech player overall to win it four times.

Going into Monday’s games, Okogie is 15th in the ACC in scoring at 15.2 points per game and second among freshmen, behind N.C. State guard Dennis Smith, who is the likely leading candidate for ACC rookie of the year. Smith is fifth in the ACC in scoring, first in assists and first in steals.
