Georgia Tech picked up its 16th commitment for the 2017 signing class on Monday when running back Jordan Mason from Gallatin, Tenn., made his decision to become a part of the class.

Mason said that his mind was essentially made up before he took his official visit to Tech this past weekend, and that the visit sealed the decision. Mason informed safeties coach Andy McCollum, his area recruiter, and coach Paul Johnson on Monday.

“They made me feel like I was already there even before I committed,” Mason said. “I just felt like it was the right thing for me.”

Mason was the runner-up for Mr. Football Class 5A Back this season at Gallatin High. Mason ran for 2,050 yards and 23 touchdowns on 259 carries. He is rated a three-star prospect (247 Sports composite).

At 6-foot-0 and 203 pounds, he could play either A-back or B-back, although he’ll likely begin at B-back. He can move into a competition for playing time behind Dedrick Mills with fellow commit Jerry Howard and returnees KirVonte Benson and Quaide Weimerskirch.
