Report: Jeremy Pruitt to hire Georgia assistant Kevin Sherrer as Tennessee defensive coordinator

Jeremy Pruitt is in his first day as Tennessee’s coach, but he’s reportedly already found the Vols’ next defensive coordinator. According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, Georgia OLB coach Kevin Sherrer will lead the Vols defense in 2018.

SOURCE: #UGA OLB coach Kevin Sherrer is expected to be the #Vols new DC under Jeremy Pruitt. In addition, Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph are expected to join that D-staff. Lots of good experience there, especially in the SEC.

In addition to Sherrer, Feldman says Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph will be on staff. Rocker is the Bulldogs’ defensive line coach and Rumph was Florida’s D-line coach.

These hires would add to previous reports about Pruitt’s offensive staff and give Tennessee a great chance to have a good recruiting period before early signing day on Dec. 20.

Update:  Per Brett McMurphy, Sherrer will be the new defensive coordinator at Tennessee. Bruce Feldman had the first report of the news.
