Report: Jeremy Pruitt’s coaching staff could have a lot names Georgia fans are familiar with

Former Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is expected to be named the next coach at Tennessee on Thursday. And there have already been some names emerge for his potential coaching staff.

According to a report from Chris Low, some of the names include Georgia outside linebacker’s coach Kevin Sherrer, Colorado State offensive coordinator Will Friend, South Carolina defensive line coach Lance Thompson and former Georgia defensive line coach Tracy Rocker.

Among some of the names who could be possibilities on Jeremy Pruitt's staff at Tennessee are Georgia's Kevin Sherrer, Colorado State's Will Friend, South Carolina's Lance Thompson and former Georgia DL coach Tracy Rocker.

That potential staff has a very Georgia 2014 feel to it. Sherrer, Friend and Rocker coached the outside linebackers, offensive line and defensive line respectively. At the end of that season Friend left Georgia to join Mike Bobo at Colorado State. Rocker and Georgia parted ways after National Signing Day in 2017.

Sherrer is not the first Georgia assistant to be linked to a job this season. Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker was reportedly interviewed for the Tennessee job and wide receivers coach James Coley is a reported candidate to be Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator.

The Bulldogs will be playing in the College Football Playoff against Oklahoma. That game is scheduled for Jan. 1. Per another Chris Low report, Pruitt is expected to stay at Alabama through the College Football Playoff. Alabama takes on Clemson on Jan. 1.
