Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi paid Georgia Tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall a compliment Wednesday with an estimable comparison.

“He reminds me a little bit of Denard Robinson,” Narduzzi said on the ACC teleconference.

Robinson completed a heralded career at Michigan in 2012, setting the Big Ten single-season record for total offense and earning league MVP honors in 2010. He was dangerous as a run-pass threat, becoming the first player in FBS history to throw and rush for 1,500 yards in the same season. Narduzzi is familiar with Robinson having been the defensive coordinator at Michigan State during Robinson’s career.

While he has only started two games, Marshall has demonstrated similar versatility, running for 249 yards and five touchdowns against Tennessee and then throwing three touchdown passes in seven attempts against Jacksonville State. Marshall has completed 10 of 16 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, averaging 14.5 yards per attempt.

“TaQuon is an electric guy, I think,” Narduzzi said. “I think he’s scary. He’ll drop back and throw it, as well, and I think he’s got a pretty electric arm.”

Tech plays Pittsburgh at 12:20 p.m. Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium in the ACC opener for both teams.

“He’s something special,” Narduzzi said. “Coach (Paul) Johnson found himself a special guy there he’ll have for a couple years.”
