Kevin Sherrer mentioned as a possible replacement for Jeremy Pruitt at Alabama

According to multiple reports, Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is expected to officially be named the Tennessee coach on Thursday. And there has already been one name to pop up as a potential replacement.

Per ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Georgia outside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer could possibly be a replacement for Pruitt, if and when he becomes Tennessee’s coach. ESPN’s Chris Low reported, however, that Sherrer is a name to watch for on Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee.

Pruitt, Friend and Sherrer are very close friends. One SEC coach told me last night that Sherrer might also be a possibility to replace Pruitt as Bama's DC https://t.co/89ioBXW8Bv

Sherrer and Pruitt both joined Georgia’s staff prior to the 2014 season. Pruitt left following Mark Richt’s dismissal while Sherrer has remained on staff. Sherrer was the director of player development from 2010-12, which was also during Pruitt’s first run at Alabama.

The Crimson Tide will be playing in the College Football Playoff as they take on Clemson on Jan. 1. According to Low, Pruitt is expected to remain on Alabama’s staff through the College Football Playoff.
