Georgia Tech punter Pressley Harvin’s standout freshman season was recognized with a fitting tribute. Harvin was named to the Football Writer Association of America’s freshman All-America team Monday.

Harvin ranks 16th nationally in punting average at 44.1 yards per punt, the second highest among freshmen and fifth highest in school history. Tech is also 29th nationally in net punting at 39.7 yards per punt after ranking 65th last season at 37.4 yards per punt. Often playing in rainy conditions, Harvin’s high-hanging kicks frequently flipped the field for the Yellow Jackets. He was strong both at distance control and accuracy, keeping the ball out of the end zone and also close to the sidelines.

Harvin was also named All-ACC third team and a member of ESPN’s All-America team for true freshmen.
