Hurricane Irma made an impact on Georgia Tech’s football schedule.

The Yellow Jackets were to play at Miami on Oct. 12, a Thursday night game on ESPN. However, Irma’s impending arrival in Florida led Miami and FSU to postpone their Sept. 16 game in Tallahassee earlier this week. Saturday night, the ACC announced that the Seminoles and Hurricanes will meet Saturday, Oct. 7.

Because the ACC requires teams playing on Thursdays to have “equal or full rest,” Tech and Miami couldn’t play Oct. 12. Instead, they will meet in Miami on Oct. 14.

The time and TV information were not announced Saturday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is feeling the effects of Hurricane Irma,” ACC Commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “As important as football is to all of us, these kinds of events provide perspective when you’re talking about life-threatening events and the aftermath ramifications.

“It quickly became clear that it was in the best interest of our players, coaches and fans to reschedule next week’s Miami at Florida State game. Typically, it’s not easy to reschedule games, but in this instance, there was a clear path to adjust quickly and effectively.”
