Falling behind quickly, Georgia Tech lost the first game in its annual series with archrival Georgia. The Yellow Jackets gave up three runs in the first inning and went on to lose 5-1 to the Bulldogs on Tuesday at Foley Field.

Tech was off course at the plate, picking up just four hits (all singles) and striking out 15 times. Meanwhile, Georgia’s 3-4-5 hitters were 6-for-9 with three RBIs, a home run and a double.

The Jackets have now lost four in a row after getting swept this past weekend at Notre Dame. They are 4-10 when the opponent scores first.

“We got behind early again, and it kind of felt like we’d get back in it, but didn’t,” coach Danny Hall said. “They did a good job of pitching to us, and we couldn’t get a hit to kind of get back in the game.”

Tech fell to 16-15 and has a weekend series coming up with No. 2 Louisville beginning Thursday at Russ Chandler Stadium.
