Georgia signee Quay Walker responds to angry Tennessee fans after throwing Vols hat during commitment ceremony

5-star linebacker Quay Walker shocked many when he flipped to Georgia on Wednesday morning, but spurning Alabama was not the most legendary part of his commitment ceremony.

No, that honor belongs to his Tennessee hat-fake out that ended with a Vols cap being flung across the room. UT fans were not pleased by the showing, and they didn’t hide their feelings on Twitter.

Walker responded to one of the fans with an explanation, claiming he meant no disrespect.

It was a classic move that will be remembered in SEC circles for a long time, but it’s understandable for Tennessee fans to be upset, too.

Walker’s inclusion in Georgia’s 2018 class gives the Bulldogs an overwhelming lead in the overall team rankings. With seven 5-stars and 15 4-stars according to 247Sports composite, Georgia’s class is head and shoulders higher than everybody else. USC and Clemson are the next closest with four and five 5-star prospects, respectively, but both of those classes are also much smaller than Georgia’s.

This is a historic recruiting class for Georgia, that includes the No. 1 overall player in quarterback Justin Fields and the No. 1 overall running back in Zamir White. Tackle Cade Mays, defensive end Brenton Cox, guard Trey Hill, guard Jamaree Salyer, cornerback Tyson Campbell, linebacker Adam Anderson, running back James Cook and tight end Luke Ford join Walker as top-three overall players at their position.

Walker is the No. 2 outside linebacker in the country, behind only Anderson, according to 247Sports composite.
