GM survey: Twenty five percent say Hawks top four in East

The NBA released its survey of league general managers on Tuesday and the Hawks were mentioned several times. They were not, however, predicted to make an appearance in the NBA finals. That distinction was given to the Cavaliers and Warriors by a wide margin.

In the yearly survey, general managers responded to 48 questions about the best teams, players, coaches, fans and offseason moves. They were not permitted to vote for their own team or personnel.

Here are the results of survey concerning the Hawks. The complete survey can be found here.

* General managers were asked to name the top four teams in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks received 3.3 percent of votes for third and 21.4 percent for fourth.

* Dennis Schroder received votes in the category of the player most likely to have a breakout season. The Suns’ Devin Booker was first with 31 percent of the vote.

* Dwight Howard finished tied for fourth, with the Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol, in the category of best interior defender with 6.7 percent of the vote. The Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan was first, with 50 percent.

* The Hawks were ranked as the sixth best defensive team with 6.7 percent of the vote. The Spurs were first, with 50 percent.

* Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer received votes in the category of coach who makes best in-game adjustments. The Mavericks’ Rick Carlisle was first, with 41.4 percent of the vote.

* Kyle Korver finished third in the category of best pure shooter, with 10 percent of the vote. He finished behind the Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. He also finished second at moving without the ball, with 30 percent. Thompson was first, with 40 percent.
