Short-handed Hawks end eight-game skid with victory at Cavs

The Hawks snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 117-115 victory at the Cavaliers on Sunday.

The Hawks (2-8) won for the first time since opening night. They beat the heavily-favored Cavs (4-6) in spite of missing four rotation players because of injury, including three in the frontcourt.

Dennis Schroder scored 28 points and Taurean Prince and Luke Babbitt had 17 each for the Hawks, who led the Cavs for all but the opening three minutes of the game. The Cavaliers used a 26-16 run to pull within 112-106 with 2:36 to play and were down 115-111 after Kyle Korver’s three-pointer in the final minute.

The Hawks turned the ball over on the ensuing inbound pass with 22.2 seconds left and LeBron James scored to make it 115-113. After Schroder made two free throws the Cavs scored again to pull within two points and Hawks guard Isaiah Taylor missed a pair of free throws. Cavs forward Channing Frye misssed on open 3-point try that the Cavs rebounded but Dwyane Wade missed a tip-in attempt before time ran out.

WATCH: Alabama State attempts dunk on Kenny Wooten, does not go well

Little went in the right direction for Alabama State on Friday night against the Oregon basketball team. With a little under 12 minutes left in the second half, the Ducks led the Hornets 73-39, and there would be no signs of let up. You might think this would be about the point in the game that Oregon might let a few charitable dunks or...
