Millsap will return, come off bench (updated)

UPDATE: Paul Millsap will be active for the Hawks in Sunday’s game against the Nets after missing eight games with left knee synovitis. Millsap will come off the bench in his first action and be under a limits restriction.

Paul Millsap is close to a return - even if it’s not Sunday.

The Hawks upgraded their starting power and leading scorer to questionable ahead of the game against the Nets Sunday. Millsap has missed the past eight games with left knee synovitis. The Hawks have struggled in his absence with a 2-6 record.

The Hawks don’t play again until Thursday meaning Millsap could get an additional three days of rest and recovery.

Thabo Sefolosha (right groin strain) will miss a fourth straight game after the starting small forward was ruled out. Malcolm Delaney (back spasms) was listed as doubtful and likely will miss his second straight game.

The Hawks list Kent Bazamore (right knee bone bruise) and Ersan Ilyasova (right ankle) as probable.
