Hawks upgrade Sefolosha to questionable

Hawks starting forward Thabo Sefolosha has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Monday’s game at the Trail Blazers. Sefolosha has missed the past seven games with a left groin injury.

The Hawks issued the updated injury report Sunday.

Sefolosha has averages of 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.7 steals in 25.8 minutes in his 44 games this season. He injured his groin against the Bulls on Jan. 25. He played the following game against the Wizards but was forced out the past seven games.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said recently the team was hopeful that Sefolosha could return before the All-Star break. The Hawks play at the Clippers on Wednesday before the league hiatus.

The Hawks are 4-3 in the past seven games without Sefolosha.

The Hawks pull even, but it feels like they’re ahead

Long ago, Red Holzman, then the New York Knicks’ coach, offered this pearl of wisdom to Larry Merchant, then a writer for the New York Post: “The odd-numbered games of a series are important; the even-numbered games are critical.” Game 4 of Hawks-Wizards met the criterion for critical, and darned if it didn’t feel fairly eventful...

It’s playoff time, and Dwight Howard has had little effect

The surprise wasn’t that the Hawks trailed the Wizards 2-1 heading into Monday’s Game 4 of Round 1. The Wiz were the higher seed; they’re supposed to be leading. Nor was it shocking that Paul Millsap, the most circumspect of souls, had gotten dragged into a spitting fight (minus the actual spittle) with Markieff Morris. These are...
