Hawks to sign, introduce Babbitt Wednesday

The Hawks will sign and introduce Luke Babbitt at a news conference Wednesday. The free-agent forward agreed to a one-year contract with the team last week.

The Hawks announced the news conference, but did not name Babbitt because a contract has yet to be signed. The veteran minimum contract is for $1.9 million.

Babbitt played last season for the Heat and averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 15.7 minutes in 68 games. The 28-year old is a veteran of seven NBA seasons and has also played for the Trail Blazers and Pelicans. He has career averages of 4.7 points and 2.3 rebounds.

Babbitt was the 16th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

The move gives the Hawks 14 players under contract for next season.
