Braves right-hander Chaz Roe has started a rehabilitation assignment with the team’s Gulf Coast League affiliate.

Roe threw 18 pitches over one inning Sunday, and manager Brian Snitker said he’s scheduled to pitch again Thursday. The Braves placed Roe on the disabled list April 12 with a strained mid-back muscle on his right side.

Roe, 30, struggled to a 9.00 ERA in three starts before going on the ,but could boost the Braves’ bullpen if he can find his pre-injury form. After the Braves claimed him off waivers from the Orioles in August he had a 3.60 ERA over 20 innings, with 26 strikeouts and seven walks.
