Braves prospect Andrew Albers improves to 12-3 in Triple-A


Andrew Albers pitched eight shutout innings and drove in a run with a single to lead the Gwinnett Braves to a 3-1 win over the Louisville Bats on Thursday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

The 31-year-old Albers allowed just one run and seven hits and struck out four and walked two.

Albers (12-3) became Gwinnett’s first 12-game winner since Julio Teheran went 15-3 in 2011. Over his last eight starts, Albers is 6-0 with a 0.98 ERA.

Albers pitched in the majors for the Blue Jays and Twins, going 2-5. The Atlanta Braves signed him to a minor-league deal in December, 2016.

Ronald Acuna had  a double Thursday night, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. He is hitting. 342.

Gwinnett is 56-60.
