Braves activate Sean Rodriguez, Danny Santana from disabled list

The Braves activated veteran utility players Sean Rodriguez and Danny Santana from the disabled list as expected on Monday.

Infielder Jace Peterson and relief pitcher Jason Hursh were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to open roster spots, with the Braves going back to a seven-man bullpen instead of the eight-man unit they’ve used for much of the season.

Blog: Rodriguez joining Braves could be big

Santana missed 10 days with a leg infection. Rodriguez has been out all season recovering from shoulder surgery in early February for injuries sustained in a frightening Jan. 28 car crash when a stolen Miami police cruiser rammed the SUV that he was driving, injuring Rodriguez, his wife and their two sons.

More to come on the story after Braves clubhouse opens and manager Brian Snitker addresses the media.

PHOENIX - Aaron Blair was not good in his major league season debut Wednesday, but plenty of the Braves right-hander’s teammates weren’t a lot better in a listless 10-3 loss to the Diamondbacks at Chase Field that completed a three-game series and the western two-thirds of a three-city trip. Making a fill-in start after Jaime Garcia was...

Braves rookie Camargo has developed quickly into impressive hitter

PHOENIX – He had a double and a homer in Friday’s 12-3 win at Dodger Stadium, had two doubles Saturday against the Dodgers, hit the third-longest Braves homer of the season in Tuesday’s 8-3 win against the Diamondbacks and … well, needless to say, things are going quite well for Braves rookie Johan Camargo. The Braves...

Johnson happy to be back on the field with Gwinnett

Micah Johnson has found sudden success at Triple-A Gwinnett, but a return to the bigs isn’t on his mind just yet. The Dodgers traded the 26-year-old to the Braves last offseason. While he’s played sparingly in the majors since 2015, he still has some perceived upside and is a controllable utility man through 2022. But Johnson opened the...
