Atlanta United and radio station 92.9 the Game reached an agreement to make the radio station the flagship partner of the MLS expansion team, the team announced Saturday via Twitter.

Adam Schick (play-by-play) and Jason Longshore (commentator) will serve as the broadcast team for 92.9. Schick has broadcast games for Orlando City of MLS.

The Spanish-language station La Mejor, which broadcasts on 1130 AM, 1460 AM and 1600 AM will carry Atlanta United games, the team also announced Saturday. Both deals were previously reported by the AJC.

Armando Carillo (play-by-play), Daniel Cantu (commentator), Jorge Avina (sideline). Cantu does Spanish-language broadcasts for the Braves.

The club will open the season Sunday hosting the New York Red Bulls at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

The MLS team is owned by Arthur Blank, who also owns the Falcons, and 92.9 is the Falcons’ radio partner.

The station will start a preview show from Bobby Dodd Stadium starting at 4 p.m. Sunday. It will air until kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

The radio coverage will include home-and-away game coverage with a play-by-play announcer and analyst.

Atlanta United’s TV partner will be Fox Sports South.

Formula One's Fernando Alonso adds interest to Indy 500

After a rousing celebration of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 last year, the question naturally followed: How could the 101st version of the legendary race be more than an anticlimax? Turns out one answer is Fernando Alonso. Alonso, a two-time Formula One champion who's having a middling season in that series, opted to skip the glamorous...

Garcia does it with arm and bat in Braves’ 2-0 win over Giants

SAN FRANCISCO – When the Giants intentionally walked Dansby Swanson to put two runners on base with two out in the seventh inning of a scoreless game Friday night with pitcher Jaime Garcia on deck, Braves manager Brian Snitker could’ve brought in a pinch-hitter. He has plenty of times in similar situations this season, and to say with mixed...

Pigskin pickin’: Tech and UGA both go 9-3; one wins its division

The Memorial Day weekend brings our annual long-range look at college football, guaranteed to ruin any backyard cookout. Without further ado, we dig in. Alabama will not win the national championship. It’s still the best program with the best coach and the best talent. It will again win the SEC. (I don’t see a challenger arising. Do you?)...
Atlanta United: What goes into PKs?
Atlanta United: What goes into PKs?

One of the more exciting moments in a soccer game can often be the one that involves the least amount of action: the penalty kick. The penalty kick can cause an entire stadium of people to hold their breath as they begin to mentally work through the variables: Who will take the kick? Will he go left, right, or cheekily down the middle? Will he go low...

Garcia’s return from DL pushed back; Ruiz’s stock rising

SAN FRANCISCO – Adonis Garcia’s scheduled return from the disabled list has been pushed back several days, and when he’s back there will be a division of labor at third base between him and rookie Rio Ruiz, who’s earned playing time in the Braves’ view. That was the gist of manager Brian Snitker’s comments before...
