Atlanta United president will be guest TV analyst

Atlanta United President Darren Eales said he’s going to do his best to be as objective as possible when he serves as a guest TV analyst for Saturday’s game at Real Salt Lake.

“I’m hoping the fans go easy on me,” he said.

Dan Gargan, the usual analyst, must miss this game.

“Dan will never be missed more than when I step in,” Eales said.

Eales said he did a little bit of analysis when he played 20 years ago, but said the production value of that broadcast was more comparable to Facebook Live than to Fox Sports Southeast, which will broadcast Saturday’s game. It will be broadcast on CW69 in Atlanta.

Eales said he can at least give some insight into Atlanta United, how the team was built and other aspects of the MLS expansion franchise.

And if an Atlanta United player receives a red card for the third consecutive game?

“I’ll have to be careful,” he said.
