9/27: Idol rewind season 2, Reba no. 1!

Brace yourself Clay and Ruben fans. The syndicated weekly show “American Idol Rewind” is back, airing season two starting this weekend (6 p.m. on WATL-TV Saturdays and Sundays and at 5 p.m. Saturday on WGN-TV). They have fresh interviews with almost all the finalists and semifinalists— including Frenchie Davis and the biggest loser Corey Clark.

Ruben will be hosting and Clay will help out, too. This was a fun season, the one that solidified “Idol” as a true phenomenon and we’ll get to see Atlanta’s own Vanessa Olivarez, too! (I just spoke with her and will post another entry about her whereabouts.)

To refresh your memory, here’s the original Web site with the contestants.. I may do a phoner with Ruben and they’re checking on Clay’s availability.

And get out of the way, Kanye and 50 Cent. Reba’s on board! Reba McEntire’s “Duets” album just rocked the house with more than 300,000 in sales, fueled partly by her duet with Kelly Clarkson “Because of You.” Kanye fell to No. 2 and 50 Cent to No. 3.

I LOVED season 2 and will watch Rewind whenever I remember! :-) Ruben, Clay, Kimberly were fantastic. I loved Vanessa and was very disappointed when she was eliminated. Corey Clark? Not so much!

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 9:24PM EST
It will be fun to go back in time. I'll have to set the dvr.

I have Reba's CD and it's good. Of course my fav is her duet with Kelly. However the one with Justin is pretty good too.

Good Morning. I loved season 2 also. Even though I am not a CLay fan, I look forward to him singing "Bridge of troubled water".

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 8:06AM EST
Mornin Y'all!!

Shaun, I can safely say I ain't ever been a fan of Clay or Reuben, period. That was the worst season on AI IMO.

Posted by: KPH on September 27, 2007 8:07AM EST
Cool my code was HIP for the last entry.

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 8:10AM EST
Luvs 7 is early to you? LOL...I got to work at 5:30. ...lol...

RC will be out also most of the day...too many papers due! Shaun take care of them heffas while I'm gone, you seen what they was tryin to do yesterday....watch out for KPH though, he's one of them sneaky types...you know he and CHOC are neighbors!

LOL! Morning RC.

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 8:15AM EST
Good Morning all. Happy day before Friday.

KPH, how come you get good codes and I get the one I got yesterday. Code guy is mean to Nana.

I'm happy - my Cameron is safe on DWTS.

Posted by: Carla on September 27, 2007 8:17AM EST
Morning! I watched Rewind a couple of times but I couldn't stay focused. Season 2 was good but I was already hooked from Season 1 which minus the horrible set, graphicss, and cohost, was one of my favorites.

Posted by: KPH on September 27, 2007 8:21AM EST
LOL! Hey Nana. The code guy must just know that I am HIP or at least I was in the 70's!

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 8:28AM EST
RC, I got you covered, I can put the smack down if necessary.
You gotta be careful with that one they call JEX, she is a tricky one, you think she is down for the count, and she comes back with a knife. Can you say the shower scene from "psycho".

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 8:30AM EST
Shaun...
You just pressed post a few seconds before me. WOW RC at work at 5:30. Must make for a long day. Thanks Nana..You too. Howdy KPH and Carla...I am totally psyched the season premier of Smallville and Grey's tonight. And, I have some left over pizza too!! Is it too early to ask what's for lunch? ;-)...
On topic... I was never a big fan of Reubens. I did like Clay though, but I am not much of fan now. Still think Kelly is best Idol so far!! Sorry Carrie fans.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 8:34AM EST
Morning guys and gals!

Ladies, we are not going to settle for this BS today from the guys, calling us heffas. We ain't heffas about 2:00 in the morning now are we :-)

Luvs, I am having a Mexican Pizza for lunch today
:-)

Posted by: Mitch on September 27, 2007 8:35AM EST
Good Morning All!!

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 8:37AM EST
Underwood is good but I still didn't see that "spark" with her on the show. She was alright. She didn't stand out to me. Cute girl though!

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 8:39AM EST
Shay..
Sounds really good. I had Mexican last night. It was quite tasty!!

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 8:40AM EST
Oops...Hey Mitch. ;-)

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 8:41AM EST
Luvs, lunch, haven't decided. As to best idol ever, I have to agree, Kelly. She can do any music, as was evidenced in the Crossroads special she did with Reba. Don't have any time to enter today. I'm waiting for the "work your miracles and enter a months worth for this atty by 5:00 on the day its due" saga. Happens every month.

Shay - heffa is definitely fighting words.

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 8:41AM EST
k, code guy gave me "you". What do you suppose that means?

Posted by: Carla on September 27, 2007 8:43AM EST
Luvs, I can't wait for Grey's tonight. I'm sooooo excited.

Posted by: KPH on September 27, 2007 8:45AM EST
Nana that means YOU are wonderful! Morning Mitch.

Posted by: KPH on September 27, 2007 8:48AM EST
Shaun you and RC done got these girls all stirred up already. If I were you I would brace myself! LOL!

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 8:51AM EST
KPH, notice how Ara dropped a few lines then said he was gone for the day. When I see him tonight, it's on!

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:01AM EST
KPH, RC has taught me well on how to keep em in line. Didnt you give me a few pointers too? lol

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 9:01AM EST
k, so I'd been taking a women's vitamin for years, right, so I see the add for the one for women over 50 - well, I think I'll try that one. Buy it, bring it home, and OMG the pill is huge. 2x the size of the other one. Am I at the age now, where I have to take the "extra large vitamin pill" that takes a entire glass of juice to swallow?

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 9:02AM EST
Excuse me shaun "keep em in line." What mark is that exactly?

Posted by: Carla on September 27, 2007 9:05AM EST
See him tonight??? Whatever heffa. He will be with me. We have plans!

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:09AM EST
i plead the 5th.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:11AM EST
mynana, I can't take pills. They make me sick to my stomach so I feel for you on taking the larger ones.

I know y'all have plans Carla. He told me he "planned" on dumping your arse around 8:30 to kick it with me.

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 9:12AM EST
Shaun, right, exactly, just as I thought. Ladies, should we explain to shaun about "keep em in line."

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 9:12AM EST
Mornin er'body.

Luvs I'm with you on Greys tonight, can't wait. Are you an Ugly Betty fan too? I love that show. I tried to watch Private Practice last night, me no likey, I want Addison back on Greys, shall we protest? lol.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:15AM EST
E-V-E, did you watch ANTM?

Posted by: linnykat on September 27, 2007 9:16AM EST
5th of .... Scotch? Bourbon?

mornin' all!

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:17AM EST
lol @shay, you are crazy. carla, you gonna let her just step in and steal from you?
Where is Hex, i mean Jex... She will put sumthin on ya.

Posted by: linnykat on September 27, 2007 9:19AM EST
DWTS result was really no surprise to me.... i think miss supermodel josie was unfortunately the target of lots of folks who just are tired of the super skinny super hyped models when MOST of us do not look like that.... to find out she's so totally "unfit" in that sleek body is sort of a revenge of the "normal bodied person"....tho, REAL revenge would be to keep her on and make her work hard, lol!!!

ok tho' the boss is out, i'm piled high with work today, so i'll check in later! you guys hang in there!

Posted by: KPH on September 27, 2007 9:23AM EST
No Shaun I dont want to have to tell my kids I got my Azz whipped by a bunch of girls! I havent been married 33 years and not learned anything LOL!

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 9:24AM EST
Hey Carla..Eve..Linny....Yep, looking forward to Gray's. One of my best friends at work really liked Private Practice. Think I will watch it online today...Shh..don't tell anyone. Also, it comes on opposite my newest guilty pleasure Gossip Girl on the CW.

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:25AM EST
Morning All!

I didn't like Clay or Reuben, well Rueben more than Clay and now he acts like a 2nd class diva so, I really don't like him. I think Kelly and Carrie are the best idols but Kelly is my favorite.

Ya'll still fighting over Ara? Choc told me he wasn't that good anyway but do whatchu gotta do.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:26AM EST
LOL at Kimmy!

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 9:32AM EST
Hey Shay, I did watch ANTM and Lisa is my fav so far. What nationality is she? The girl who was voted off was hilarious, she stood there like a deer in headlights when Tyra told her she was going home and then she was like, Ok. LMAO @ her.

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 9:35AM EST
As for Idol Rewind Season 2 (fav season), Ruben was my favorite that year and Fantasia is my favorite Idol so far and IMO the most versatile.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:35AM EST
Eve, I don't have a favorite yet but I do like Lisa. O.k. so what are they trying to do with the autistic girl because it's obvious she is "special". Are they doing that for ratings. She won't be able to compete with the other girls on the run way and such and what was the purpose of having her photo with another girl? To build up confidence?

Also, are some of these girls supposed to be plus size. They were looking a little thick last night.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 27, 2007 9:35AM EST
Good morning everyone!

I see that lil homewrecker Carla is back today. Hmph! You can have my leftovers cause I'm done with RC. For good this time. No, really...for good!

Off to get my coffee....

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:37AM EST
Clay was my favorite that season, although I don't like his "diva like" attitude now. Fantasia is my favorite winner but I think Kellie was the best winner.

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 9:41AM EST
LOL @ Choc, what's up girl?

Shay I have a feeling the autistic girl will be in the final 4, she, Ebony and Lisa have a unique look. LOL, "Ms. J." with that wig on at panel looked a HOT DAYUM MESS!

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:44AM EST
Eve, I didn't know if that was Ms. J's real hair or what. She was looking "funny" last night. That black girl with the red hair, what's her name.

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:45AM EST
LOL @ Choc!
I think I rooted for Fantasia the hardest and most. That was the only time I cried when someone won. I really, really wanted her to win and didn't like Deboremo. I think my favorite season over all was season 5 when Taylor won. That was the best overall group IMO.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 9:48AM EST
That's why I said that was my fav winner Kimmy. I really was rooting for her that year.

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 9:48AM EST
Shay, I can't remember her name but I think she's going to be the beoyatch of the bunch.

Lol @ Kimmy, Deboremo.

Do you guys think AI will ever do a reunion show with all the winners? That would be interesting.

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:51AM EST
What place did Kelly come in on "World Idol"?

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 27, 2007 9:51AM EST
Hey E-VEE-E!! Not much is up other than possibly a dayum squirrel in my basement. Got me freaked out and frazzled, not to mention scared to death cause it also could be a rat. ) : Orkin is coming out today. My family uses my basement as their personal freakin storage unit and I want their shyt out of there, like yesterday! But since most of it is my mother's, I can "evict" her.

Other than that I'm right as rain!! LOL

Sorry, I needed to vent. ( :

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:52AM EST
Shay, you know my name, Kimmy...remember? dang!

I say the thicker the models, the better. I'm tired of seeing skeletor's walking around trying to be sexy and pretty. Ain't nothing sexy about bones, period.

I think that would be cool Eve, only Clay would demand to go on VH1 and headline the Diva concert. He still doesn't realize he didn't win.

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 9:54AM EST
Kimmy,

keep on hatin....I see what you trying to do.....

RC

Shaun, can you do somethin with Kimmy?

Thanks,
RC

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 9:59AM EST
in Shaun's dreams and yours Ara....

I'm a factstater not a hater! The quicker you realize that the quicker reality will set in.

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 10:03AM EST
Kimmy,

Like I said quit hatin....it is a well known 'fact' that heffas that hate usally are tryin to cover up feelings of affection they have down deep.
*The doctor is in.*

Ara

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 10:03AM EST
Lol @ Choc, it's ok to vent, anytime. Lol @ Kimmy, someone needs to tell him.

Posted by: mynana on September 27, 2007 10:05AM EST
Nothing against Clay, but I was never that thrilled with him from the beginning. Not that cute to me. And that business of feet on the arm of the chair on the airline, silly stuff.

I think Kelly came in 2nd to the british guy, if I remember.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:05AM EST
Y'all are too funny!!

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 10:05AM EST
Shay...
Kelly came in second. The Swedish guy won that year I believe.

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 10:08AM EST
If you are internet junkie like me, you can find lots of good singers that won Idol in other countries. Some of the guys from Australia have been really good and the runners up as well. Also, the X-Factor winners are some of my favorites as well. Of course, I really enjoy Pop music here which is sort of non-existent here in the US.

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 10:09AM EST
I gotta laugh at that one! LOL!!!!

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 10:10AM EST
LOL @ Ara!

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 10:11AM EST
Just love Google...

"In a surprise upset, Norwegian Pop Idol Kurt Nilsen, a former plumber, defeated competition favorites Kelly Clarkson and Will Young and won World Idol's clash of the world's Idols."

Norwegian..Swedish...close enough I guess.
;-)...

Dang Luvs, I know all black folk blog alike, but that was Shaun (a man) who asked about World Idol :-)

CHOC!

Since we are all havin our say, let me just leave you with this idea:

You'll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do
(And You'll never find, no matter where you search)
(Someone who cares about you the way I do)

And no I'm not braggin' on myself, baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there is no one else! Nooo, no one else! (No one else)

And You'll never find, it'll take the end of all time
Someone who understands you like I do
And no I'm not trying to make you stay baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there is no one else! Nooo, no one else (No one else)!

(You're gonna miss my lovin')
You're gonna miss my lovin' (You're gonna miss my lovin')
You're gonna miss my lovin' (You're gonna miss my lovin')
You're gonna miss my lovin', (Oh yes you are, yeah)

And you'll never find (And you'll never find)
Another love like mine (Another love like mine)
Someone who needs you like I do (You sure baby?)
And No I'm not braggin' on myself, baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there is no one else! and there is no one else!
Nooo, there's just no one else (No one else)

You're gonna miss my love

Okay, I finally discovered what politics are:

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What are Politics?"
> >
> >Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way:
> >#1. I'm the head of the family, so call me The President.
> >#2. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the
> >Government.
> >#3. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the People.
> >#4. The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class.
> >#5. And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future.
> >"Now, think about that and see if it makes sense."
> >
> >So, the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.
> >Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to
> >check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.
> >
> >First, the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his! Mother
> >sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room.
> >Finding the door locked, he looks in the peephole and finds his father
> >in bed with the Nanny.
> >
> >He gives up and goes back to bed.
> >
> >The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I
> >understand the concept of politics now."
> >
> >The father says, "Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think
> >politics is all about."
> >
> >The little boy replies, "The President is screwing the Working Class
> >while the Government is sound asleep!
> >The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep sh____."

Shaun, don't scare Choc like that!! But seriously Choc, how old is the house. I won't say its a rat per se, but I definitely wouldn't leave any cheese out.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 27, 2007 10:16AM EST
RC..The late, great Barry White will not garner you any points my brotha! Don't you have some school work to do?

Shaun, remind me never to come to you for any consolation. Thanks a whole freakin lot!! Now I'm never gonna go back to my house! SHYT!

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 10:19AM EST
choc, if it was a rat you probably wouldn't have noticed until it ate thru a couple walls. if it's making a racket it's a squirrel. squirrel's are know to do that. no worries...

LMAO @ Nana!

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 10:20AM EST

My house is only six years old. This basement is unfinished and until my mom moved back to La. 4 yrs ago, the stuff down there was limited to about 3 boxes, a sofa & loveseat, and one of those collapsable closets that I stored some of my winter clothes in. Now, it has...OMIGOD...contents of a 4 bedroom home plus more boxes. I WAN THAT SHYT GONE!!!

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:22AM EST
See Ara, she don't appreciate nothing.

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 10:22AM EST

Posted by: Eve07 on September 27, 2007 10:23AM EST
LOL @ Choc, if it's a rat, run girl run, a rat/snake would be my undoing.

Too funny Nana. Shay I think that was Lou Rawls, DJ Choc is gonna have her dj card revoked, LOL.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:24AM EST

LOL at Ara!

Yeah Choc, what's really in that basement?

Posted by: RC on September 27, 2007 10:27AM EST
aight Shay,

since you paid for it, I'll get back to school work!!

Ara

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:28AM EST
You ain't holding no old barbeque grills down there with fake arse legs in them are ya?

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 27, 2007 10:28AM EST
All I've seen is "droppings" which I saw for the first time yesterday. I go in the basement several times during a week and I've never seen this before. I haven't heard the "rustlings" of a squirrel...I wish I had. Mom's at the house now and says she sees an area near the ceiling of the baseement where "something" could possibly get in...so maybe it is a squirrel. (crossing my fingers, toes and eyes)

RC...you, Barry White and Lou Rawls are the furthest things from my mind right now. I have possible "rodent" issues and you're running around with a homewrecker. Go write your papers!!! Go!!

LOL

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 10:29AM EST
i thought it was Barry too, choc, great minds........

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:30AM EST
Had I paid for it, the financial aid office would have pulled you out of class three weeks ago telling you your account is bad.

Posted by: on September 27, 2007 10:30AM EST
SHAY!!!!! lol

Posted by: Luvstoread on September 27, 2007 10:31AM EST
If your life was a country song, what would it be..
For Choc...
Mom left her shyt in my basement and the rats are calling. ;-)
Second perhaps..
Let's leave that one for RC.

Posted by: shay on September 27, 2007 10:31AM EST
Homewrecker??? LOL!!
