9/26: Idol revisionist poll, LaKisha on Broadway
By: Rodney Ho | September 25, 2007, 10:13PM EST

Ken Barnes over at USA Today has been doing a season-by-season “revisionist Idol” vote and is now doing an “ultimate” Idol poll with 15 contestants: the six who won the “revisionist Idol” (Kelly, Clay, Fantasia, Bo, Elliott and Melinda), six runner ups in the polls (Tamyra, Kimberley, Diana, Carrie, Daughtry & Blake) and three displaced real winners (Ruben, Taylor and Jordin.) This should be fun. Take part here..

My top 10: Kelly, Fantasia, Taylor, Carrie, Ruben, Jordin, Bo, Clay, Daughtry, Elliott. It’s kind of fluid. On a different day, I might have moved the rankings around.

And look who has a job already: LaKisha Jones is going Broadway joining “The Color Purple” starting January 9, 2008. She will be a church soloist at all evening performances and Sofia during matinees, backing up Chaka Khan. Fantasia is set to leave as lead Jan. 6 and the show is seeking a replacement.

In the meantime, “Idol” is being really stingy about releasing info about the later audition dates. They are trying to avoid “groupies” or something like that, according to the Omaha World-Herald.. My publicist buddy, Alex Gillespie, who I’ve been working with since the beginning in 2002, has been deliberately vague about when or where the later Atlanta auditions are. All I know is it’s happening the week of October 8, not much more than that. As you know, I’m going to fish around for more info this week. This was not the case seasons two and three when I was freely given the locations and times and got plenty of access. Oh, well.

Congrats to LaKisha on the new job!

Rodney, I have all the confidence in the world that you'll find out something about the late auditions. Tell the publicist that we'll keep it a secret! :-) Good Luck!

Lakisha deserves it...perfect role for her. Rodney, your top 10 is actually a top 9.

My top 10: Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, London, Jordin, Melinda, Lakisha, Elliott, Reuben, Pickler.

Honorable mention: Haley

Good Morning All. I just loved my Cameron Matheson (first dancer DWTS) from All My Children. He's so nice to look at. I think he did pretty good. Today is bowling - so i get to wear my brace and flip off the other team we play today and it's completely innocent. Fun for me He He.

Here's some games for all to play until I return.

GAMES FOR WHEN YOU GET OLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Sag, you're It.
2. Hide and go pee.
3. 20 questions shouted into your good ear.
4. Kick the bucket
5. Red Rover, Red Rover, the nurse says Bend Over (for you guys only).
6. Musical recliners.
7. Simon says something incoherent.
8. Pin the Toupee on the bald guy

Good Morning All!! nana, Ryan was good last night but they best has to go to Helio. He was really surprising.

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 8:12AM EST
Yea, Helio was good. Did you think Wayne was a little stiff? Cuban made me laugh.

Posted by: flat screen on September 26, 2007 8:15AM EST
GOOD MORNING...did anyone catch the special on ESPN las night called 'The Vick Divide".LOL!!!!!.What were they trying to accomplish?I'll tell you what I got from it...We've got a long way to go in this country.

Posted by: Mitch on September 26, 2007 8:21AM EST
I didn't watch the last 30 minutes. I enjoy watching it but they are worse about dragging it out than AI is.

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 8:24AM EST
Yup. The networks want those ratings. I don't think Cheryl Burke will be in this competition long this year teamed up with Wayne. Were they going to eliminate one of the women and one of the men both? It not, there's a lot of dancers this year.

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 8:25AM EST
Congrats to KiKi! I hope she does well. TCP is one of my favorite movies of all time and that scene when the church lady is singing and Shug comes in the church is one of the best. With Fantasia leaving you never know what may happen.

Posted by: KPH on September 26, 2007 8:26AM EST
Good morning all.

Posted by: flat screen on September 26, 2007 8:27AM EST
LOL!!!!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 8:29AM EST
So Kiki will only be singing? That is a extra, not a role. But still a check......

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 8:31AM EST
I also read that Bebe Winans and Chaka Khan are both joining the cast of CP. Is Bebe playing Mista?

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 8:32AM EST
No, he's playing Harpo and Chaka is Sophia.

Posted by: flat screen on September 26, 2007 8:34AM EST
Are there any newcomers out there....Please come on board and dicscuss things we used too.

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 8:34AM EST
KiKi's got a good voice for broadway. There's no doubt she'll do good there.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 8:46AM EST
Good morning!!

Congratulations to LaKisha!! That sounds like a good fit for her and she can make a decent living working on Broadway.

I watched DWTS last night and pretty much liked everyone. My favorites though are the Surfer Dude/Model and Floyd Maywether. Floyd left me with a broad grin on my face cause I didn't expect him to be so, so...well, you know. Heeheehee...

Posted by: Mitch on September 26, 2007 8:48AM EST
nana, if I understood right, they are only eliminating 1 couple tonight. That doesn't seem fair because there may have been more people watching & voting 1 night over the other night. If they have them dance on seperate nights, they should eliminate one from each night.

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 8:50AM EST
I've decided not to get into DWTS too much this season. There are just too many shows on and it's the odd one out. I did catch the last 30 minutes and I really enjoyed Cuban. He was much better than I thought he'd be. I was watching Lincoln Heights. Great show produced by a fellow Spelman Alum. You all should check it out if you haven't. It's in it's 2nd season on ABC Family on Tuesdays at 8. It's a great show for the whole family.

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 8:52AM EST
But Choc, you didn't like my Ryan (Cameron). (lower lip hanging). Don't you think he's a cutie?

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 8:53AM EST
Nana!! He is a cutie, but honestly, I don't remember his performance. It doesn't stick out in my mind. Sorrwiee. ) :

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 8:53AM EST
Morning 'pounders!

I have posted a new picture in my profile...Greg with Bill Gates! Greg is 6' tall so that gives you an idea of how tall Bill is!

Mom is doing better which makes me think the anxiety theory is accurate. I've been checking on her frequently and insisted that we go out to dinner last night. She was reluctant but enjoyed herself very much!

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 8:59AM EST
Choc, you should see him with his shirt off on the soap - oh my goodness. It's incredible. (He was the first dancer).

D - glad mom is better. Bless her heart and yours. I know what it's like to the the care giver for a parent. I'm glad you're there for her.

Posted by: KPH on September 26, 2007 9:03AM EST
Everyone I put up some photos of the wedding in my AI profile. The actual ceremony pics will be posted after they get back from St. Lucia which will be in 2 weeks. I didnt get many of the Bridesmaids because they wouldnt let me go in their dressing room LOL!

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:06AM EST
Great pictures, KPH! I know my fellow female blogmates will agree with me when I say...I want those flower girl dresses!!!!!

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:07AM EST
mynana, thanks....I just wish I could find some help that works for both mom's and my comfort!

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 9:08AM EST
D, I'm sorry to hear about your mom and I'm happy she's feeling better.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:09AM EST
Thanks, Carla! I'm always glad to see you pop in!

Thanks D.

Posted by: mynana on September 26, 2007 9:14AM EST
KPH, thanks for sharing. Beautiful bride, handsome groom - and that father of the bride, what a nice looking old guy.

Good Morning All!

Wow! What a wonderful way to enter the blawgpound this morning! Wonderful pictures KP & Deirdre. I love weddings...hurry up Choc, I want to go to another one. What a beautiful day it turned out to be KP. Congrats. Oh! and D, Bill Gates is short and your Greg is a cutie. He can be my agent any day;)

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:27AM EST
KPH, you clean up pretty nice. See what a hot towel will do for ya!! The pictures are lovely. And I agree with D, the jumping in the pool must have set off a hellava nice party.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:31AM EST
Dee, your son is a cutie!! Love the title of the photo "Me & Bill", like the two are old college buddies!! ( :

Kimmy, morning girl!! If it were soley up to me, I'd be married by now but you know God doesn't consult my schedule when making plans for my life. (-:

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:34AM EST
Thanks, Choc....yeah...Greg and Bill hang out together!!! :-)

We all need to find Choc a man so we can go to a wedding together! What a party that would be!!!!

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:34AM EST
Choc, I already spoke to the big man and your husband is on his way. Give him about a year. Maybe less.

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:36AM EST
Ooooh, can I be in the wedding. I know we've never met, but I feel like we are sisters. Tell your real sister she gonna have to slide over. I promise to be good. Give me a year's notice so that I can lose weight first. I refuse to buy a gown bigger than a size 6.

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:38AM EST
Greg is out west just mingling up something!!!

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 9:39AM EST
I wouldn't let shay be in your wedding. She's known to cause scenes and something about weddings brings out that GHETTO in her. Now that's just what I heard but I wouldn't take any chances.

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 9:39AM EST
And you know you can't get into no size 6!

Posted by: KPH on September 26, 2007 9:40AM EST
Thank's everyone for the compliments!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:41AM EST
LOL @ Choc! I know, right? Of course, the good thing is, you never settled so when you do get married it will be wonderful.

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:42AM EST
LOL @ Carla!

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:42AM EST
Shay, I have 3 sisters, several cousins, and 4 close girlfriends you'll have to fight with...LOL, oh, not to mention, my niece! And, thanks for putting in a good word for me. (-;

Dee, that makes me sound so desperate...and you sound like my uncles...sending out an APB to find me a "man"...LOL Notice, I didn't say my mom? OMIGOD, she is a gem...no pressure from her...LOL Although when I turned 30 she said to me "Why don't you just have a baby already. I'll help you raise him/her". After I picked my bottom lip off the floor I laughed and told her that we NEVER would have had THAT conversation 15 yrs prior. LOL

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:44AM EST
I know Carla!!! LOL!!

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:45AM EST
Carla, don't worry...my family can handle the likes of Shay-Shay!! LOL

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:45AM EST
D, did Greg ask Bill to have his pocket change? I heard somewhere that the equivalent to us finding a quarter in our couch to Bill Gates is $25,000.00.

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 9:46AM EST
Hell at this point I can't either!

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:48AM EST
I don't know what y'all are talking bout. I know how to act in public. Hell-errr!

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:49AM EST
LOL @ Shay & Carla!

Posted by: linnykat on September 26, 2007 9:49AM EST
wow what a wonderful way to enter this morning, especially since i'm running late due to an out-of-office errand first thing! i'll go look at pics later, cuz work's piling up already, but

i canNOT believe that i totally forGOT to watch DWTS last night :-( i'm such a freaking dufus!!!

but then, i had 5 shows recording during the evening, tuesdays will definitely be my "conflicts" night!!! urgh!!!

peace :-o

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:50AM EST
Heck, Choc...I wasn't worried about you...I was just looking for an excuse to go to a wedding!

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:51AM EST
I love weddings except for the ones that are thrown together in 2 weeks prior. I can't wait until my son gets married.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 9:52AM EST
kimmie...I asked Greg if he'd hit Bill up for a loan but nooooooo!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:54AM EST
D, back at cha.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:54AM EST
The best thing about weddings is the CAKE!! yum-yum!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:54AM EST
Well, I don't expect to be in your wedding Choc, I just expect to be invited. Ladies, for me, losing 10lbs is a full time job that I just quit! I'm happy being a size 8 cuz at this point I'm too tired of worrying about it.

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:55AM EST
Choc, the last wedding i went to the cake tasted like a sponge with splenda sprinkled on top of it. And the bride paid $1,200 for that cake. Yuck!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 9:57AM EST
I've been to a few wedding lately where it's all fancy smancy and the cake sucked arse. They paid like $400-600 for sawdust and a little Betty Crocker icing. The best cake I had at a wedding was from Publix and it probably only cost $40.

D, you gotta teach him better than that!!!;)

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 9:57AM EST
Kimmy, girl relax...I wish I was a size 8! But I am on a mission right now. I intend to have legs like Amerie so I'm in the gym 5 days a week doing circuit training and cardio on the stairmaster! If I can't get legs like Amerie or Tina Turner then I'd settle for my thighs at 28... that was a good year!

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 9:58AM EST
I know that's right Choc. I would kill for a size 8 right about now. 10's ain't getting it.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 10:00AM EST
Publix and Sam's have the best cakes!! Those high priced bakeries are the biggest scam artists sometimes.

LOL @ Shay & Kimmy..."sponge w/ splenda", "sucked arse", "sawdust w/ Betty Crocker icing"....CLASSIC!!!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 10:00AM EST
I do the stairmaster and I swear by it, makes the booty go pop! I'd have to eat fish and steamed veggies for 2 years strait to have legs like that but I like bread and chocolate too much.

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 10:01AM EST
Publix wedding cakes with cream cheese icing are to die for. And, the wedding cakes only cost like $100-$200.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on September 26, 2007 10:01AM EST
LMAO @ Kimmy...make the booty go pop huh? LMAO

Posted by: linnykat on September 26, 2007 10:03AM EST
I found a picture of me from 1979 that made me sigh big time... i really WAS quite slender at one point in my life!!! of course, that WAS 28 years and 3 full term pregnancies ago.... ahhhh well! perhaps I'll get it scanned in so you guys can see what i USED to look like (tho' you have no clue what i really look like now, which is probably just as well!) but... even THEN i was not a "size 8" much less a 6! More like a 12, i'm just a big sorta gal, yanno? my body as a size 8 would look like a scarecrow!

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:06AM EST
Way back...a size 10 was considered perfect! Since I wear a 10, I try to convince myself that it's actually the same size it used to be in the 60's...but it ain't!

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 10:08AM EST
LOL! yep Choc!! Publix has mini wedding cakes well, they're really not little. I ordered a mini groom's cake for our anniversay last year and it was chocolate indulgence at it's best w/chocolated dipped strawberries on top. OMIGOD! best cake I ever ate and that's saying alot considering my mom makes hella good cakes. plus, it was gorgeous and only like $35 and served 10-20 people.

Posted by: Carla on September 26, 2007 10:08AM EST
I've given up on my quest to be a size 6 too. I'm cool with being an 8. I just have to work on getting my thighs to stop the combustion when I walk. If you ever need a fire started, just let me know.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:09AM EST
EWWWWWW! I just read this headline on MSN and didn't go any further. Man Finds a Human Leg in New Barbecue Smoker.

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 10:10AM EST
linny, we do know how you look. Remember you sent those pics a while back. You were rockin' those glamour pics!

Posted by: RC on September 26, 2007 10:12AM EST
was House on last night? I think I missed the season premiere.... :-(

Posted by: RC on September 26, 2007 10:13AM EST
CHOC!! Even when you get a man you know I'm gonna be askin, "What's ya man got to do wit me?"

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:14AM EST
Turns out a man bought the smoker at an auction of storage facility abandoned stuff. Police got in touch with the owner of the unit that the smoker came from and the woman said her son's leg was amputated after a plane crash and he'd kept it for religious reasons. IN A SMOKER?????????

Posted by: shay on September 26, 2007 10:14AM EST
LOL at Carla! I am trying to get down to an 8 and then I will be happy, but I understand what you mean by the thighs. Mine are scrubbing more than my break pads.

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 10:14AM EST
LOL Carla!! Shut up!

Nasty D!!!!!!!!!!!!I don't want to know anymore about that!

LOL! who else did the glamour shots? I did w/my sister and they were soooooo cheesy but, damn we made cheesy look good. JK!!!! Old pictures can be soooo embarrassing. my mom loves to display all pics no matter how much I beg and plead for her to take them down...I call it the hall of shame...

Posted by: on September 26, 2007 10:14AM EST
RC, yes, my wife tapes it, so it was on. I am not a fan of House.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:14AM EST
Yes, RC, House was on last night and pretty good.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:16AM EST
Shaun..and back to you! I did it awhile ago and forgot! I HATE getting old!

Posted by: Mitch on September 26, 2007 10:19AM EST
D, that happened not too far from here so it has been on the news alot. The guy that found it reminded me of a "You might be a redneck if..." joke. He said "I told my family it had 5 toes & toenails so it's a foot". The story went on to say they would return it to the rightful owner. I would let the rightful owner have the smoker too.

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:19AM EST
I'm heading out for a haircut. Back in a bit!

Posted by: Deirdre on September 26, 2007 10:20AM EST
Mitch...LOL!!!!!!!!

Posted by: RC on September 26, 2007 10:21AM EST
thanks D, Shaun...guess I'm too busy to even remember to tivo it....dang it....

D...can you give me a synopsis?

LMAO @ all of y'all!!

RC...My man don't have a dayum thing to do with you, nor will he know about you either. A girl gotta have a few secrets!! LOL

Dee & Mitch...the family can have the leg and the smoker back. Why in all that is right and sane did they store it in the smoker at a storage facility? Ever heard of a freezer? YUCK!!

Posted by: RC on September 26, 2007 10:24AM EST

Nice pics of an obviously nice wedding! I know you're proud to get that boy married off like that!

OK Just a midweek teaser for old skool Friday...

Mama Cass Elliot - Dream A Little Dream Of Me

Stars shining bright above you,
Night breezes seem to whisper, "I love you";
Birds singin' in the sycamore tree;
Dream a little dream of me...

Say "nighty-night" and kiss me,
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me;
While I'm alone and blue as can be,
Dream a little dream of me...

Stars fading, but I linger on, dear,
Still craving your kiss;
I'm longing to linger til dawn, dear,
Just saying this:

Sweet dreams til sun beams find you,
Sweet dreams that leave our worries behind you;
But in your dreams, whatever they be,
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading, but I linger on, dear,
Still craving your kiss;
I'm longing to linger til dawn dear,
Just saying this:

Sweet dreams til sun beams find you,
Sweet dreams that leave our worries far behind you;
But in your dreams, whatever they be,
Dream a little dream of me

If she had tried to make it in today's market she probably would have never been given the chance.

I'm not into House anymore...same thing different person each week, it's become boring to me. Although I did enjoy it the first and a half seasons.

You're just a big liar. You're all over House every time he makes an appearance.
