Carrie and Kellie....hmmmmm....at the same time?

Anyone other than me tired of hearing that twangy style singer for Sugarland? I mean I know they got a LOT to be proud of but I think that girl needs to vary her style a little....I can only take about 1.5 minutes of her singing now.....

Posted by: War Eagle on August 31, 2007 6:51AM EST
Good Morning RC. I like the Carrie and Kelly at ther same time thought but if I had to choose it would be Carrie.

So todays question is
Who would you

Carrie or Kellie

Posted by: Deirdre on August 31, 2007 7:19AM EST
Congrats to Carrie, Kellie and Kelly. Apparently country music appreciates the Idols. I wonder if the rest of them will move in that direction.

Morning blawgpound. Have a happy day.

Posted by: Deirdre on August 31, 2007 7:22AM EST
shay...I'll be thinking about you today and hoping your tests come out alright. Deep breathing helps keep the anxiety down. Good luck.

mynana...thank you and I enjoyed our Rosie discussion, too! :-)

Posted by: on August 31, 2007 7:50AM EST
War, gimme Carrie anyday over Kellie. Although Kellie's "New Friends" are very tantalizing.

Posted by: on August 31, 2007 7:52AM EST
Good morning Deirdre and RC. Sorry, but Kellie's pups got me off track today.... lol

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 7:52AM EST
nah fellas....there's just something about Kellie.....

:-)

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 7:54AM EST
LOL Shaun Good Mornin to you and Eagle!

Eagle, thought we might have a close game to start with last night but State just didn't have anything for 'em.

Like it or not, this is already ol Skool.....

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
this could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted, she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
please bring me my wine
He said, we havent had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device
And in the masters chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just cant kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
relax, said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

Morning everyone and a special good morning to my guys on here ARA, Shaun, and KPH!

My second set of tests were ran yesterday, that's why I was late. My calendar is open today, except for that little thing called work. Other than that, I will be here all day. Thanks for the prayers.

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 8:02AM EST
In a rockin mood today!!

Here's another:

You see it all around you
Good lovin' gone bad
And usually it's too late when you, realize what you had
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago,
Who told me

Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling to tightly
you're gonna lose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in
It's so damn easy, when your feelings are such
To overprotect her, to love her too much
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago
Who told me

Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling too tight babe
you're gonna loose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in
Don't let her slip away
Sentimental fool
Don't let your heart get in her way

yeah, yeah, yeah
You see it all around you
Good lovin' gone bad
And usually it's too late when you, realize what you had
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago
Who told me

Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling to tightly
you're gonna lose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in
So Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling too tight babe
you're gonna lose it

You're gonna -- lose control
yeah, yeah, yeah
Just Hold On Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling too tight babe
you're gonna loose control
Hold on Loosely
But don't let go
If you cling too tight babe,
you're gonna loose control
yeah, yeah, yeah

Good Morning All!! Friday and a long weekend at that!!

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 8:03AM EST
Shaun,

I know you are a Rod Stewart fan.....I heard one of his ol 70's rock songs on the radio and think it's a shame he got away from that sound....man he had some rockin hits! Maybe his voice just couldn't take it, but he had some good ones......

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 8:04AM EST
Mornin' Mitch!

Man I know, I hate being off for three days!

RC

Posted by: War Eagle on August 31, 2007 8:06AM EST
I was pulling for State to at least make a good showing, but with six interceptions they are lucky LSU only hung 45 points own them. Hard to tell how good LSU is because Miss St. played so bad.

Posted by: Mitch on August 31, 2007 8:07AM EST
I wasn't satisfied with 3, I added 2 more. Actually, I had scheduled the full week but I needed a couple extra days in October to go see Kellie Pickler at the NC State Fair.

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 8:07AM EST
SHAY!!!

Good to see you in here.....good mornin from ARA!

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 8:09AM EST
I agree Eagle.....LSU is in for a rude awakening somewhere down the road.

Mitch, get with it.....Kellie or Carrie? (at least tell us what you think)

Hey ARA. How is the studying going? Unfortunately, before I can teach, I have to be registered in a program. Now I have to find a school to go to while I am teaching. Like i have time for that. They are making me go back to school to get my Masters or enroll in a Teaching Program. Both take two years so I may as well get the Masters. ARA, can I borrow $20,000 until I'm 60?

Posted by: on August 31, 2007 8:13AM EST
RC, yes, I am an avid Rod Stewart fan, I think his voice just gave out on him. Such a shame, he voice was/is very unique.

Posted by: on August 31, 2007 8:14AM EST
yall stop calling RC Ara, that was a one time thing. RC, no offense, actually, that is how some black people say R, is ARA. lol

Posted by: Jex on August 31, 2007 8:15AM EST

For all my R&B listeners out there, Aaliyah's funeral was today six years ago. Here is the throw back song in memory of her.

"ROCK THE BOAT"

Chorus:
Boy you know you make me float
Boy you really get me high
I feel like i'm on dope
Cause you
You serve me on a regular
Boy we need to tie this rope
Before we drift any deeper
There now hold me close
Boy let's take this overboard now

Chorus:
I want you to
(rock the boat)
Rock the boat, rock the boat
Rock the boat, rock the boat
(work it in the middle)
Work the middle, work the middle
Work the middle, work the middle
(change positions for me)
Change positions, do positions
Do positions, do positions
(now stroke it baby)
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me

Verse 2:
Ooooh baby i love your stroke
Cause you, cause you get me to where i'm going
In a jury you'll get my vote
Cause i believe, i believe you know just what you doing now
Baby now we can coast

Just don't get in a hurry
That's too slow
Go ahead and put that thing in over drive

Chorus:
I want you to
(rock the boat)
Rock the boat, rock the boat
Rock the boat, rock the boat
(work it in the middle)
Work the middle, work the middle
Work the middle, work the middle
(change positions for me)
Change positions, do positions
Do positions, do positions
(now stroke it baby)
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me

Chorus:
I want you to
(rock the boat)
Rock the boat, rock the boat
Rock the boat, rock the boat
(work it in the middle)
Work the middle, work the middle
Work the middle, work the middle
(change positions for me)
Change positions, do positions
Do positions, do positions
(now stroke it baby)
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me
Stroke it for me, stroke it for me

Bridge:
I need you to use yourself
Like you never ever used to do before
To explore my body
Until you reach the shore
You'll be calling, calling for more
Repeat Chorus.....[

Good Morning everybody!! 'Scuse me if I sing...

Mornin' Mr. Radio
Mornin' little Cheerios
Mornin' sister Oriole
Did I tell you everything is fine...
In my mind

Mornin' Mr. Shoe Shine Man
Shine 'em bright in white and tan
My baby said she loves me and
Need I tell you that
everything here is just fine
In my mind

'Scuse me if I sing
My heart has found its wings
Searchin' high and low
And now at last I know

Mornin' Mr. Golden Gate
I should walk but I can't wait
I can't wait to set it straight
I was shakin' but now I am
makin' it fine
Here in my mind

[Mornin' Lyrics on http://www.lyricsmania.com]
My heart will soar
With love that's rare and real
My smiling face will feel every cloud
Then higher still
Beyond the blue until
I know I can
Like any man
Reach out my hand
And touch the face of GOD

'Scuse me if I sing
My heart has found its wings
Searchin' high and low
And now at last I know

Mornin' Mr. Radio
Mornin' little Cheerios
Mornin' sister Oriole
Did I tell you everything is fine...
Wooo in my mind

So, won't you get up Oriole
So, won't you get up Cheerios
Wake up Mr. Radio
....it's fine
Here in my mind

Singin' about mornin' little radio
Mornin' little Cheerios
Wake up Mr. Radio
Need I tell you everything
right here is just doing fine
Woo!, in my mind

Yeah!!

Since we mentioned Mr Bob Seger yesterday...

Bob Seger
» Old Time Rock & Roll

Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Today's music ain 't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll
Don't try to take me to a disco
You'll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock'n' roll

Still like that old time rock'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll
Won't go to hear them play a tango
I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul
There's only sure way to get me to go
Start playing old time rock 'n' roll
Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today' music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Still like that old time rock'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll

Rc, got me going talking bout Rod Stewart, Here is oneof my fav, sending this out to all the ladies on the blog... Big papa luvs ya...

Stay away from my window
Stay away from my back door too
Disconnect the telephone line
Relax baby and draw that blind

Kick off your shoes and sit right down
Loosen off that pretty french gown
Let me pour you a good long drink
Ooh baby don't you hesitate cause

Tonights the night
It's gonna be alright
Cause i love you girl
Ain't nobody gonna stop us now

C'mon angel my hearts on fire
Don't deny your man's desire
You'd be a fool to stop this tide
Spread your wings and let me come inside

Tonights the night
It's gonna be alright
Cause i love you girl
Ain't nobody gonna stop us now

Don't say a word my virgin child
Just let your inhibitions run wild
The secret is about to unfold
Upstairs before the night's too old

Tonights the night
It's gonna be alright
Cause i love you woman
Ain't nobody gonna stop us now

Hey, now, huh-huh
Hey, hey, hey, no

Fire (Uh) [Uh]
Fire (It’s all about) [Uh, uh]
Fire (Woo, woo, woo)
Fire

The way you walk and talk really sets me off
To a fuller love, child, yes, it does, uh
The way you squeeze and tease, knocks to me my knees
‘Cause I’m smokin’, baby, baby

The way you swerve and curve, really wrecks my nerves
And I’m so excited, child [Yeah], woo, woo
The way you push, push let’s me know that you’re good
[You’re gonna get your wish] Oh, yeah

Fire (What I said, child, ow)
Fire (Uh-huh)
Got me burnin’, burnin’, burnin’
Got me burnin’, burnin’, burnin’ (Yeah)
Got me burnin’, burnin’, burnin’ (Yeah)

Woo...hoo...hoo...baby
Start burnin, burnin’ baby
Ooh. Ooh, ooh, ooh
Burnin, burnin’ baby
Oh, baby

When you shake what you got, and girl, you’ve got a lot
You’re really somethin’, child, yes, you are
When you’re hot you’re hot, you really shoot your shot
You’re dyn-o-mite, child, yeah

Well, I can tell by your game, you’re gonna start a flame
Love, baby, baby
I’m not gon’ choke from the smoke, got me tightenin’ up my stroke
Do you feel it, girl, yeah

glad you asked that...according to wikipedia, the OP story is urban legend, but there is a woman's scream in the recording and a story about some woman being stabbed is pretty widely known.

Posted by: RC on August 31, 2007 9:10AM EST

In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected
and steppin' out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
and strap your hands across my engines
Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
Will you walk with me out on the wire
`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta find out how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
girl I want to know if love is real

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight
In an everlasting kiss

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
but there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we'll live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
Someday girl I don't know when
we're gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go
and we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
baby we were born to run

They left out the one, two, three, four!!!

Great match:) glad he pulled it off, although I have always enjoyed watching Santoro play too. What'd you think about Roger's match tonight w/the 6'9 kid from UGA???? Good golly miss Molly, sure like to ball,
Good golly miss Molly, sure like to ball,
When you're rockin' and a rollin', can't hear your mama call.

From the early early mornin' to the early early night,
When I caught miss Molly rockin' at the house of blue light,
Good golly miss Molly, sure like to ball,
When you're rockin' and a rollin', can't hear your mama call.

Mama, papa told me 'Son, you better watch yourself',
If they knew about miss Molly, have to watch my pa myself,
Good golly miss Molly, sure like to ball,
When you're rockin' and a rollin', can't hear your mama call.

Goin' to the corner gonna buy a diamond ring,
When she hugged me and kissed me, made me ting-a-ling-a-ling,
Good golly miss Molly, sure like to ball,
When you're rockin' and a rollin', can't hear your mama call.

Flats, I don't last nights game tells us a lot about LSU. First they were playing by far the worst team in the SEC. (9 - 26) record over the last 3 seasons and then States quarterback was terrible. 6 interceptions. All LSU had to do to win this game was show up. Syvester Croom had better get something going. This is his fourth season and has done not one thing to improve this team. They are a disgrace to the SEC.

Eagle, I wish there was a NC team in the SEC so we could get more of that coverage. We are over run with ACC teams though and that is what we get.

You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go

Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting they're holding out

You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go

This is old but pretty much sums up SEC football
I get a little excited just reading it!

Football in the South

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another reason why the South is great! Planning for the fall football season in the South is radically different from up North. For those who are planning a football trip in the South, here are some helpful hints.

Women's Accessories:

NORTH: Chap Stick in back pocket and a $20 bill in the front pocket.
SOUTH: Louis Vuitton duffel with two lipsticks, waterproof mascara, and a fifth of bourbon. Money not necessary - that's what dates are for.

Stadium Size:

NORTH: College football stadiums hold 20,000 people.
SOUTH: High school football stadiums hold 20,000 people.

Campus Decor:

NORTH: Statues of founding fathers.
SOUTH: Statues of Heisman trophy winners.

Homecoming Queen:

NORTH: Also a physics major.
SOUTH: Also Miss America.

Heroes:

NORTH: Rudy Guliani
SOUTH: Archie & Peyton Manning

Getting Tickets:

NORTH: 5 days before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus and purchase tickets.
SOUTH: 5 months before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus and put name on waiting list for tickets.

Friday Classes After a Thursday Night Game:

NORTH: Students and teachers not sure they're going to the game, because they have classes on Friday.
SOUTH: Teachers cancel Friday classes because they don't want to see the few hung over students that might actually make it to class.

Parking:

NORTH: An hour before game time, the University opens the campus for game parking.
SOUTH: RVs sporting their school flags begin arriving on Wednesday for the weekend festivities. The really faithful arrive on Tuesday.

Game Day:

NORTH: A few students party in the dorm and watch ESPN on TV.
SOUTH: Every student wakes up, has a beer for breakfast, and rushes over to where ESPN is broadcasting "Game Day Live" to get on camera and wave to the idiots up
north who wonder why "Game Day Live" is never broadcast from their campus.

Tailgating:

NORTH: Raw meat on a grill, beer with lime in it, listening to local radio station with truck tailgate down.
SOUTH: 30-foot custom pig-shaped smoker fires up at dawn. Cooking accompanied by live performance by "Dave Matthews Band," who come over during breaks and ask for a hit off bottle of bourbon.

Getting to the Stadium:

NORTH: You ask "Where's the stadium?" When you find it, you walk right in.
SOUTH: When you're near it, you'll hear it. On game day it becomes the state's third largest city.

Concessions:

NORTH: Drinks served in a paper cup, filled to the top with soda.
SOUTH: Drinks served in a plastic cup, with the home team's mascot on it, filled less than half way with soda, to ensure enough room for bourbon.

When National Anthem is Played:

NORTH: Stands are less than half full, and less than half of them stand up.
SOUTH: 100,000 fans, all standing, sing along in perfect four-part harmony.

The Smell in the Air After the First Score:

NORTH: Nothing changes.
SOUTH: Fireworks, with a touch of bourbon.

Commentary (Male):

NORTH: "Nice play."
SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs."

Commentary (Female):

NORTH: "My, this certainly is a violent sport."
SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs."

Announcers:

NORTH: Neutral and paid.
SOUTH: Announcer harmonizes with the crowd in the fight song, with a tear in his eye because he is so proud of his team.

After the Game:

NORTH: The stadium is empty way before the game ends.
SOUTH: Another rack of ribs goes on the smoker. While somebody goes to the nearest package store for more bourbon, planning begins for next week's game.

Nothing else in the universe comes even halfway close to the glories of football in the South!!!
