8/21: Mandisa's tour arrival Friday
By: Rodney Ho | August 21, 2007, 8:47AM EST
Mandisa came to the Georgia World Congress Center last month for the Christian retail trade show and told me she would be back soon to Atlanta to tour. Well, she didn’t wait long. She’ll be at the Love Transforms Concert at the 700-seat North Star Church at 3413 Blue Spring Rd., Kennesaw.
Tickets are $25 a piece and you can buy them here.. Or you can call the church from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 770-420-9808. You can also buy tickets at the door. Doors open at 6; concert starts at 7:30.
Love Transforms is sponsored by LifeWay and the Women’s League ministries of Cobb Vineyard, NorthStar Church, and Piedmont Church.
Her CD has sold more than 25,000 copies in its first two weeks and her single “Only the World” hit the top 10 on the Christian adult contemporary charts.

Mandisa has a great voice and I think she has found the best niche for her.

I think there's a lot of people really disappointed today. They were hoping Vick would be proven innocent. I understand how they feel. I really loved watching Michael Vick play football. Even when he was doing it wrong, he made it exciting. I'm going to miss the football player. Don't know(if he ever plays again) if I'll be able to watch him. I think a lot of people feel that way.
Wonderful day D.....Wonderful day...My boxer's still partying this morning...for her fallen bulldogs!!!...GO FALCONS!!!

What has Foxy Brown done now/ I swear, for someone without a hit record, she stays in the news.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:01AM EST
Did yall hear Rhianna has added some stuff to her upper body?
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 9:03AM EST
What do you mean by 'stuff', Shaun and good morning.
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 9:04AM EST
And who IS Foxy Brown and why is she always in the news?
Posted by: shay on August 21, 2007 9:04AM EST
Morning Shaun! Yeah, I heard she added some upper body and I am so over Foxy Brown at this moment. She is a nobody.
Reverand Ron's daughter (Vanessa) has a new role on Guilding Light starting today. I wish I could see her in action. This is a big opportunity for her.
Posted by: shay on August 21, 2007 9:05AM EST
D, stuff would be "breasts implants".
Posted by: Jex on August 21, 2007 9:11AM EST
Hey y'all. Foxy Brown looks a hot mess. She needs to crawl back into her proverbial hole.
Rhianna needs implants like I need fake nails. So unecessary. She's a beautiful girl the way she is. . . er, was.
I heard that Angela Russel and Bow Wow had somethin' goin' on. Not bad.
Posted by: shay on August 21, 2007 9:12AM EST
Angela Simmons and Bow Wow are dating, so I heard.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:12AM EST
thanks Shay, Morning D, Foxy Brown is a washed up rapper. the thing about Rhianna is she is so young, why is she "adding" so early? Well now that I think about it, Mariah added when she was around 27, but Rhianna is just 19 i think?
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:15AM EST
I dont like Bow wow, how is he still around? i think the next big act is T-Pain. It was Akon, till he grooped a teenager on stage....
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on August 21, 2007 9:16AM EST
Good Merntin y'all!! I finally made it!! Yippeee!!
Foxy Brown is washed up and pregnant...poor babies can't choose their mothers...tsk, tsk, tsk.
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 9:17AM EST
Girls are getting implants for their 16th birthdays now. WHAT!!!are their parents thinking?????
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on August 21, 2007 9:18AM EST
I think a lot of these young ladies who are "adding" and "supplementing" are going to be in for a rude awakening when they reach the pearly gates. St. Peter will be standing there with a sign "Only accepting humans with all original parts".
Posted by: shay on August 21, 2007 9:21AM EST
I wouldn't let my teenager get anything "enhanced". I don't even like the idea of "Gastric bypasses" on teenagers even if it is to save a life. Major surgeries scare me on kids.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:22AM EST
Morning All!
What are their parents thinking? What are the doctors thinking? It should be illegal to do that to a girl that young. I just don't get that-at all.
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 9:26AM EST
Greg wants lazik surgery and that scares the hell out of me. But I understand...in his profession, even without being on camera, his appearance is important. Still, eye surgery is nothing to sneeze at!

Hey Kimmy-Kim. It's all about the almighty dollar and how sex appeal (big boobs) somehow enhances a woman's marketability.
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on August 21, 2007 9:30AM EST
I think I've said it here before but other than wanting to be taller, I'm perfectly satisfied with what God gave me....the itty bitty *xxx" (LOL), the big ole' booty, the thighs, my lips (all natural, no collagen here), my BEAUTIFUL CHOCL8T brown skin (flawless; thanks mommy), my legs (thanks Big Mama)...hell, it's all good and gravy!!!
Hot Dayum...gotta kiss my dayum self!!!

D, that surgery is pretty common now, my brother use to do them when they cost a fortune, but now he has stopped, because there is no money in it.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:31AM EST
'sup Jexy! I understand that however, what normal 16 year old has/needs marketability? It's just a train wreck life waiting to happen. Raise your daughter to love herself and her body....as far as I know, silicone isn't the cure for a better life.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:31AM EST
Dang Choc, sounds like your were profiling on a dating site, I would give you a call if I read your profile... (if i was single) lol
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 9:33AM EST
I know, Shaun but just wait until your kid wants it!!! :-) He's been saving his money so I pretty sure, sometime in the next couple of years, he'll get it.

LOL @ Shaun...thank ya suga!! ( ;
Posted by: Jex on August 21, 2007 9:37AM EST
Kimmy - marketability to get a boyfriend. Bigger boobs attract more males. It starts early. Earlier than we care to think. Some people still rear their daughters to "get a good man" as opposed to being self sufficient.
There have been several specials on the Health Channel showing the risk these girls are taking by having implants. And yet, it happens.

Morning all.. I posted on the Simon blog earlier..;-(... Mike... Good news about the DAWGS. D.. I had lasic surgery a few years ago. It worked out great. I was wearing glasses since I was 7. I do agree that Rhianna looks great without the enhancements.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 9:38AM EST
Choc, are you in marketing???????????LOL!!!!!See, that's what I'm talking about, your mama raised you right. I know everyone has their own insecurities but that's normal. Going under the knife for vanity reasons is extreme at such a young age, IMO.
Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on August 21, 2007 9:41AM EST
Seriously, though, I didn't grow up with those issues and that was partly b/c it wasn't so prevelant as it is now AND I looked at my mom as a standard of beauty for me. I grew up hearing ppl compliment her on how she didn't look her age and asking if she would ever "age"...LOL...I thought, "Wow, I want to be like THAT when I grow up".
I want kids but don't know how I'm going to, or if I can, filter the images they would be exposed to...short of locking them in the house with no access to TV...LOL
Posted by: Luvstoread on August 21, 2007 9:41AM EST
Choc... It's nice that you love yourself. As my Mom used to tell me, beauty is as beauty does. ;-)

Luvs how did you keep your eyes open during the surgery. Do they have attendants holding your lids, or clamps or what? that's the part that freaks me out.
Posted by: shay on August 21, 2007 9:48AM EST
I am working on a big case and it is taking up all of my time.
Posted by: linnykat on August 21, 2007 9:51AM EST
Was it obvious or WHAT that the previous blog was on the 'front page link' for the AJC *still laughing*...
2010 - if AI is still going... it'll be TIME to stop ... and I too am glad to see Mandisa touring and doing well in her genre.
And I've always been pretty much satisfied with who/what i am (physically speaking at this moment) except the weight gain after 3 pregnancies between 35 and 40 -- the older muscles did NOT respond well... and depression-eating is a BUMMER. It's not easy to lose it after you pack it on, especially for the wrong reasons.... but otherwise... i like who i am pretty well!
'nuff self-luv from ME! *laughing*
Wonder what today's *new* big news will be.

Jex, They have this ocular contraption that holds up your eye lid. You are like totally blind in one eye for 30 seconds during the procedure. Also, you have the option to have both eyes done together at one time or separate times. I had both done at the same time.

Am I the only one who didn't like Mandisa? She was talented, but she got on my gosh darn nerves wearing sleeveless tops and too tight jeans. I'm a big girl and I know that certain clothes are more complimentary than others.
Like leather. As long as it's not too tight, it's good for anything.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 10:04AM EST
LOL jexy! I thought Mandisa was just ok to me. that was the year of chris d & pickler, right? so maybe i was just distracted. her weight never bothered me tho.
Posted by: Luvstoread on August 21, 2007 10:04AM EST
Jex,
Immediately after the surgery, you keep your eyes closed for 2 hours and wait in this room. Someone needs to drive you home. Also, you are very sensitive to the light. You get this cool pair of sunglasses. Of course as much as it costs, you should probably get some Ray Ban's. After you leave, they recommend you just go home and sleep. For one week, you can't get water or sweat in your eyes or rub your eyes. I must admit the rubbing part was hard for me. When I get frustrated, I have a bad habit of closing and rubbing my eyes.
Posted by: Jex on August 21, 2007 10:16AM EST
Kimmy, to me it wasn't her weight so much as what she wore.
Do you know Mo'nique? She's a big girl but always looks good.
Posted by: on August 21, 2007 10:19AM EST
No jex, MoNique doent always look good, when she has those huge arms out, she looks awful! MoNique is trying to be Beyonce, and some of those tight cloths she wears are not happening. Do you remember carnie wilson when she was fat? She always looked nice, all while standing next to chyna Phillips who is dabomb!

Back!
Nikki Parker looks cute until she let those sand bags she call arms out. I wasn't a Mandisa fan either. Outside of her outfits, which didn't bother me, I didn't think she was that good of a singer. She was a-ight. Nothing to scream over. She had too much competition that year.
Posted by: Deirdre on August 21, 2007 10:23AM EST
Luvs, thanks for the info...I'll tell Greg what you said. At the moment he has nobody out there he could ask to drive him home.....guess I'll have to go. :-) I'm sure he will by the time he can afford it. He has become good friends with his new boss and he does have a couple of people he hangs out with but everybody works and it's hard to ask someone to take time off...especially if they're making a movie! :-)
Posted by: Jex on August 21, 2007 10:24AM EST
Yeah, you're right Shaun. I forgot about some of Mo'nique's gowns. Those arms can be pretty nasty.
And Star Jones looked MUCH better with her weight. Now she's just scary.

August 21, 2007. The R Kelly trial is scheduled to take place next month. But sources in Chicago's Cook County State Attorney's office tell MediaTakeOut.com that there may not be a trial.
That's because, a source close to the case says that R Kelly and State Attorneys are on the verge of reaching a plea deal. An insider tells MediaTakeOut.com, "[The prosecution's] case hinged on the fact that the young woman in the video would either testify for [the prosecution] or not testify at all. Once Reshona [LAST NAME REDACTED] agreed testify on behalf of R Kelly, and say that she wasn't the girl in the video, it became nearly impossible for the prosecution to expect a conviction."
And the prospective deal appears all too generous for the 40 year old R Kelly - who is charged with 14 counts of child pornography. According to MediaTakeOut.com's source, the deal being offered would allow the R&B singer to escape serving any jail time at all. Tells our insider, "It would be up to the judge, but it's not likely that R Kelly would serve even a day in prison."

What up guys. Monique looks nice most of the time, but I agree with Shaun, some things she just shouldn't wear, like halters and minis. More is better in her case.
Shaun, T-Pain will be a has-been in a year or so. I like him but the over exposure he's getting right now is starting to bore me. Plus he's capitalizing on the sound of Roger Troutman of Zapp fame from the 80's.

That is sad, ARA needs to be put unda the jail! The video is very disturbing.. I guess the rich always get off.

Eve..About the murder suicides... If they are so unhappy with their lives, why don't they just go close the bathroom door and take care of business. It's so hard to understand all this senseless killing of the innocent. Even more hard to understand is how you could kill your own kids. They really must be sick in the mind. Also, you would think there would be some red flags that people could see.

People marry crazy people then don't understand when they harm them and the kids. These women get with men with a history of domestic violence, mental instability, etc thinking they can change them and that the Ex-wife of his is just buggin'.
Ding Ding
If an ex-wife tells me her husband cut her with a knife and then beat the kids with a piece of wood, um, I won't be marrying ole boy!

Kelli Pickler sang the National Anthem at the Braves game in Cincy last night and was in a Reds jersey with it tied at the bottom and unbuttoned at the top, some tight jeans and high heels. Hot damn she was looking hot. With her new store bought parts she is hung like a Holstein milkcow!! Someone get me a waterhose!

Here's one for all the motorcycle riders out there.
The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to heaven. At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur. "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven." Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out with God." St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God. God recognized Arthur and commented, "Okay, so you were the one who invented the Har ley-Davidson motorcycle?" Arthur said, "Yeah, that's me...." God commented: "Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise and pollution, and can't run without a road?"
Arthur was apparently embarrassed, but finally spoke, "Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?"
God said, " Ah, yes." "Well," said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention:
1. There's too much inconsistency in the front- end protrusion 2. It chatters constantly at high speeds 3. Most r ear ends are too soft and wobble too much 4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaus t 5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!
"Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."
God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and wai ted for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.
"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur, "but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours."

When my Wife saw my reaction to Ms. Pickler she reminded me of this joke.
When I was married 25 years, I took a look at my wife one day and said, "Honey, 25 years ago, we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25-year-old blonde."
"Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 50-year-old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things."
My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25-year-old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV..
Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve your problems.
