The “Idol” organizers let people into the Dome early. Lines were apparently huge at 4 a.m. or so, an hour before I even got here. By 5 a.m., thousands were already inside. They kept a couple thousand in the outdoor plaza waiting for Ryan Seacrest but they abandoned that idea when they heard he was running late. So they were sent inside. (We thought they’d let them in around 8.) That kind of left us on the outside stuck without many folks to interview, save for a few stragglers who are registering late.
I spoke with Brandon Rogers, the 12th place finisher from season six auditions. He’s here for TV Guide Channel. Remember him? Nice guy. He said he heard that at least 15,000 people have registered to try out so I think that gave the organizers extra incentive to get the proceedings started as soon as possible. He said that was the biggest showing so far among the four audition cities so far (San Diego, Dallas, Omaha were the others). In Dallas, people were auditioning well into the evening and that could well happen again today.
The videographer Michael Lindsay and I taped about a dozen people singing for a Web site feature in which we’ll have you judge their abilities. We heard a lot of good, not great singing, the type of auditions that the first-round producers would reject outright simply because they were neither bad enough nor good enough. A couple of folks were really bad, though nobody was in William Hung territory. The last guy we interviewed did a hilariously awful version of “Dangerously in Love” with enough camp value that he could make it to Randy, Simon and Paula on that alone. I don’t think we saw the next “American Idol” in our sampling.
I then tried to do that trivia/Jaywalking concept and it failed miserably. It simply isn’t funny when people simply say “I have no idea!” over and over again. Oh, well. It makes me appreciate how tough it is to do “man on the street” interviews and make them amusing.
We’re awaiting a possible few moments with Seacrest. And there’s always Constantine.

This comment is time-stamped 8:41am, but I'm reading it at 8:11am? How does that work? The previous comment was time-stamped at 6:21am, and says they won't take the Atlanta group picture until after 7am, but this post says it was taken at 6:30? Picture me confused. :-)
This is fun, Rodney....good luck with talking to Ryan Seacrest. And although I loved Constantine during his Idol stint, now he looks a little puffy and, after seeing him on B&B....he's not a very good actor.
Sorry Rodney...you're right about Brandon Rogers. Didn't know he was working for the TV Guide Channel. Who does Matt Rogers do interviews for? Fox Reality?
I liked Constantine better than Bo, mainly because I thought at the time, he was a cutie. Well, now that I have woke up from that dream, he ain't all that good.
I thought Constantine was more versatile than Bo. He could sing a lot of different genre's and did it very well...I like his voice. However, he really needs to update his look. His hair is not good for that particular style and he always looks a little grungy!
LOL!!! He don't look like Woody! Well, maybe. But I thought he was cute when he first auditioned. He looks like a old drunk now. His eyes are always hazy.

Good morning....Go Falcons!!!...Mike Vicks business partners are heading to court today..LOL!!!
MOrning bloggers. The wayward wanderer is checking in.
Unfortunately my daughter has decided to skip this years auditions. She and her husband closed on a new house last week, and are moving in this week. Additionally, my grand-daughter starts school this year, and MOM decided home and family are more important to her.
She still has 4 more years to audition, so that helped in the decision.
I know this is still a touchy subject -- but just read a new story that Vick's lawyers are negotiating with the FBI. Story says they have been given a Friday deadline to cut a plea deal or the feds will file a supplemental indictment with additional charges.
If I were a betting man I would bet on a guilty plea from #7 -- I also don't think he will go to jail. He will get a hefty fine, probation and community service. I then expect him to agree to a one year suspension from the NFL, and probably he will make a quite large donation to the Humane Society and/or PETA.

Ya know Shay, it is so sad too. It amazes the stupid decisions so many of our Sports and entertainment stars make. Vick had the entire world at his finger tips and has basically thrown it away over a bunch of dogs.
I agree his Falcon's career is over. He will surface somewhere else next season, and I really do wish him success.
FLATS - What is up with DEI's engines??????? Jr. is major league snake-bitten it seems. I can't wait to see him in some Hendrick's equipment.

I think Jr's getting 2nd's on the motor deal..i cant wait til next year.Gordon and Jr hooked up in the 500...going to be classic!
So, who all is excited about having Mark Texeira for the next two seasons. He has been great so far, and Mahay has been a godsend for the bullpen.
Am hearing from friends that Andruw may be put on the DL today to let his Elbow heal up for the September run. I really think he has been hiding how bad the injury really is hindering his swing. I would rather suffer the next two weeks without him, for the prospect of the old Andruw swinging during Sept.

I still haven't given up on the Chase for this year though -- Michigan, Bristol, California and Richmond are all tracks that Jr. has been dominant at over the past few years -- and the Penske cars have struggled at Cali and Richmond. Kurt is real strong at Bristol however.
Some other NASCAR tidbits ya'll might be interested in:
1. Harvick will not be fined for saying "ass" because that word is acceptable by the FCC.
2. NASCAR has won it's appeal against AT&T/Cingular but from many NASCAR boards I am reading Sprint/Nextel is going to be the big loser because we all know how the "Court of Public Opinion" can be and now Sprint/Nextel is coming across as being greedy and hypocritical.
3. It is rumored heavily that a change in the qualifying format will come during the first race of the Chase with the "go or go homers" qualifying first and then the locked in cars.
Mike! So good to see you! Morning Shay, Greg, RC, and everyone else....
re SYTYCD, Pasha and Lauren gone; frankly i don't know how anyone could have predicted which would get the least votes, and apparently voting was tremendous over 10 million votes in 2 hours. I'm still sticking with Lacey, but dang Sabra is GOOD! And Neil has really picked it up and improved tremendously... like he's REALLY listened to the advice and comments...and Danny's performances last week he actually looked like he ENJOYED dancing ... it should be interesting wednesday night, for SURE
ok, time for me to hit the pile of work and bring it down to a reasonable level before the boss gets back ... talk to you guys later!!!
greg...my dad was an executive with Fisher-Price back in the day when it was the premier baby and preschool toy maker. Everything was manufactured in a little town outside Buffalo called East Aurora. He would be horrified by this. Did you hear that the Chinese executive in charge of those toys committed suicide?
Good morning all, Mike Tex is the best thing to happen to the Braves since McGriff. as far as Andru I think they should have been letting Willie Harris play center for several weeks now, he is a better hitter and seems to have a very good glove out there. With him and Diaz in the lineup at the same time they are a more productive team than with Andru and his Mendoza line avg. Mahay needs to be put in the setup role and let Mr. give up a homer every time ride the pines for a while. Vick who is Vick? He dosent play here anymore right? GO FALCONS, GO BRAVES, GO THRASHERS, GO DAWGS, go Hawks to another town please!
LOL KPH. When the owner of the now New Orleans (formerly Charlotte) Hornets was threatening to move the Hornets, there were billboards all over Charlotte that read "Go Hornets, and take the Panthers with you". This was before they got their new coach though.
