After I posted my blog entry yesterday from Idol audition registration, I spent a couple of hours honing a print story about “Idol” audition repeaters for page one today. Here it is.. I interviewed eight repeaters and got five of them in there, which seemed about right for a 25 inch story (about 800 words).
Today will be a day of semi-rest for me and I’ll be back at it again tomorrow before 5 a.m. This time, I’ll be triple-tasking: I’ll be blogging, shooting video for ajc.com and writing a color piece for the paper. It’s going to be a busy few hours at the Dome. I expect Kimberly Caldwell from season two will be around for “TV Guide Channel” and I’ve been told that Constantine will be mugging for the cameras, too. It’ll be interesting to see who else pops up for some free airtime and ink.
For those of you who did register, there’s no benefit getting there early except for media exposure or kibitzing with folks in line. Hover closer to the barriers and the odds of WAGA-TV or some other TV affiliate sticking a mike and camera in your face goes up big time. Don’t be shy! If that’s not a big deal for you, you already have a seat ticket so Just be there by 7 a.m. and you’ll be fine. Auditions should start inside around 10 or 11 a.m. Unfortunately, I won’t be allowed inside so I’ll likely hover where the first-round “winners” get through to see how many people make it.
One of the Dallas auditioners said a lot more people earlier in the day got the “yellow” sheets indicating they made it to the second round. Theoretically, the more ambitious and possibly the more interesting contestants (good or bad) lined up earlier in the day. A few will get “green” sheets, which means they were borderline and a second executive producer would give them a listen.
As noted, even if you are one of the fortunate few who gets past the first round, you’ll have to wait until October for the next audition before higher-level executive producers, including Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick.

RC -- soooooo you were in Athens this weekend and you didn't call me. I see where we stand now. Harrumph. wink
Mad, me? MAD?? nevah!!!! i don't get mad.... i just get even!!! I can set 'em straight ... onliest problem is, they usually don't listen, or don't care -- LOL!

Eve -- look back at the previous blog about the AI tryouts... some sorta lurker, i guess... know-it-all of course. And indulging in something less than international politics is demeaned by such as he (although i GUESS "chris" could be a "she" ...
an additional note to "chris" btw -- i gave my background as an EXAMPLE of one person ... this blog has paralegals, computer technicians, financial advisors, accountants, musicians, administrative assistants, teachers, and MUCH MUCH more by way of "resume" credentials among its "regular" members... and that's not to mention many of the "lurkers" who enjoy our camaraderie and our verbal jousting, but rarely enter the fray themselves (for whatever reason)
just sayin' ...

House, long time no chat! Maui was fanfriggingtastic!!!!!!I have a few pics posted in my profile.
Sorry Linny...lol....I was too busy lugging mattresses up three flights of stairs. RC survived. Didn't get a chance to see too much college stuff. Did go to Carrabba's before leaving though. I'll be back since I got a postgame pad to crash at now!!
Something is screwy with my compuey. I posted saying "hey" to my girls, but it never showed up.
Don't make me come down there, AJC!
Eve, that Chris character was just that, a character. Reading the crap will just piss you off.
Choc, let's just say my weekend consisted mainly of nursing a migraine. The details don't even matter. But it's Monday now and that's all that matters! Woo freakin' hoo!

Varsity is ... well... not quite as good as the one at GT, and the downtown original athens Varsity of course is no longer there... but it's still Varsity, so gotta love them yankee dogs and onion rings!
FAB, not sure how it is, hubby does all my bbq-ing, so i don't eat out that much, lol!
for "fancy" (i.e., fairly expensive but good) Harry Bissett's is supposed to be good. For good old-fashioned burgers and fries, the Grill (right across from the arches on College Ave) is pretty good...
there's a pretty good selection of eateries around town, from basic to fancy...
and you know the AT&T commercial slogan "more bars everywhere" ?? well that could be ATHENS' slogan, LOL (but seriously, for non-collegiate, home town bar, try Georgia Bar on Clayton -- for more collegiate but still home-town bar atmosphere, try NoWhere Bar on Lumpkin (around the corner from Georgia Bar and across from the Georgia Theatre)... Georgia Theatre is an old athens theater converted to concert use, has a bar, books a lot of different kinds of shows from country to rock to hiphop to dj stuff, even some musicals-comedy shows.
lemme know when you'll be coming to town again! hubby works Ga Bar security, son sometimes works NoWhere bar (bartender) and other son works at the theatre (security) soooo...
BTW Linny, thanks for taking up some time with RC this morning......some of these other girls on her are only nice when a bill is due.....power bill, phone bill, etc. then I dont see them for three more weeks.

Sorry to hear about that Jex. It's a brand new day of a brand new week. Brand new mercies everyday! ( ;
Hey! I just went to register for American Idol, but all I got was a ticket and a wrist band. They said thats all I needed to do. How come I wasnt able to register yet? Will there be a lot of people who still have to register tomorrow morning? If anyone can help me with this info, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks!! My email is HelloGoodBYe1185@aol.com
Yo, I was thinking the same thing about the girl having a second song ready. What's two plus two? Four? Well, what's two x three. Um, I dunno, I wasn't prepared to answer that question. And you want to be the next American Math Teacher??
Next!

MAN...my name looks good there at the top...GO DAWGS!!!!!
robbi, going back a couple of blogs, this is apparently all you have to do to get in to audition...
"So how do I get into the auditions?
“Idol” will have registration tables at the Georgia Dome open continuously from Sunday at 6 a.m. until about 8 a.m. Monday. Provide two IDs, one with a photo. In exchange, the show will give you a wristband and a seating ticket. The earlier you register, the earlier you’ll audition. "
if you got a ticket and wrist band, apparently you have registered and just need to be there to audition.
yech House.... like i care? i've lived in athens off and on since 1974, and with the exception of working at the law school 74-75.... UGa is NOT my priority... so ok, it's "The Arch" and not "the arches"... whatEVAH!
sorry, sweetheart.... i know you're a big dawg fan and all, but not all of us are... don't hate me, ok?
lol, shay, i know.... H and I have ... an understanding laughing ... sort of like you do with some of the folks... sounding "upset" at H is just part of the game :-)
Posted by: flat screen on August 13, 2007 2:05PM EST
LOL no, no way! H used to live over here... found out he did the same work here my hubby and sons do, so we've got an "ongoing relationship" *laughing* ... sometimes he tries to play House at me, all grumpy and stuff, but i don't take it, i just play Cuddy to his House. If only he'd share is 'breath mints' *sigh*
Don't feel bad. I went through the same thing. My baby looks about 5 right now and he just turned three last month. He was big from birth. I had him at 8 months and he was still 7 pounds.
Ken-draaaaaaaaa!!!!! Kiss that rugrat for me!!! And tell us how the HECK are YOU, gal??? We sure do miss you 'round here!!!
