6/29: Missing Taylor & Kelly gets sober
By: Rodney Ho | June 29, 2007, 1:30AM EST

I probably would have stopped by Six Flags last night if I didn’t have a midterm to take.

But WSB-TV stopped by and here’s some video from his performance..

A shot of the crowd showed it wasn’t close to a full house though I bet most concerts there aren’t close to a full house. (All paid attendees into the park had the option to see him.)

“I’ve been touring since I’ve been 19 years old,” he told wsbtv.com. “It’s helped to weather me a little bit for this lifestyle.”

His memoir is coming out July 10 “Heart Full of Soul.” He’ll be at the Barnes & Noble off Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill on July 24. Last week, his second single “Heaven Knows” was spun by 32 radio stations nationwide 206 times on soft rock stations, none in Atlanta.

I checked with the local promoter who had originally booked Elliott Yamin and he says he still hasn’t gotten a make-up date for the day Yamin cancelled to perform on “Idol.”

And the dude who gets all the sales Ken Barnes at Idol Chatter noted that all “Idol” contestants saw sales drop last week.. Total sales so far: Daughtry at 2.82 mil, Carrie at 5.69 mil, Elliott at 283K, Bucky at 187K, Fantasia at 419K and Kellie Pickler at 565K. Off the top 200, Kelly Clarkson’s second CD sold another 7K and is at 5.8 mil, Taylor is at 689K, Paris is at 16K, Ruben at 229K, Kimberley at 12K, and Clay at 513K. And yes, Ayla Brown’s CD sales dropped from 11 two weeks ago to 6 this past week. Ken also asked about Jon Peter Lewis’ CD (yes he has a CD out. Who knew? Not many!). He sold five CDs last week. Yes, five. He has sold a total of 900.

kelly%20clarkson%20sober.jpg

I also heard that Kelly Clarkson’s next single is “Sober,” a downbeat song without a major pop hook. I bet it won’t do much better than the angry, non-hooky “Never Again,” which didn’t even hit the top 20 (though it has sold more than 600K downloads). Her CD, “My December,” which came out this past Tuesday is projected by Hitsdailydouble.com to sell 325K to 350K, a very solid figure but it will be battling for no. 1 with Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” soundtrack. The story reports Clive Davis and RCA are giving it a strong promotional push. (“Breakaway” actually opened at only 250K but strong radio performances of its songs pushed the song to 5.8 million.)

So far, “Sober” so far is getting very little airplay and has not been added by any stations in Atlanta.

Good song, though. I hope it gets a little radio because there is so much rehashed crap it would be nice to hear something slightly original. I think from a marketing perspective "what I think" would have been the best choice for the second single release.

Good morning!

Off to the Carolinas. Did anyone make themselves watch Paula's show last night? Sad to see Jesus leave the dance show. So many have backed him for so long. Jimmy and Faina's "what now/good bye speech video" is up on the official show site. I saw it while trying to find a video of Jesus and Jessi leaving.

OMG, who in the heck is buying Hannah Montana, other than teenie boopers?

Good morning!

kimmy...to answer your question from yesterday about flight times from ATL to Maui...about 11 or 12 hours. You will stop somewhere(LA{say hello to Greg for me}or SanFran) or you will fly straight to Honolulu, where about half the passengers will get off and the other half will take the short hop over to Maui. Grab a window seat for the trip from Honolulu to Maui. The flight attendants won't mind and you'll see how beautiful the water is.....amazing! When you get to Maui, the airport is near a farming community but as you drive, you will see sights that we don't get here on the mainland(I kept expecting King Kong to appear...fortunately, he didn't) Be sure to visit both sides of the island. I recommend the town of Lahaina for shopping and eating as well as finding those touristy things to do. If you don't get carsick, I HIGHLY recommend taking the road to Hana and visiting the seven pools(I think It's seven, It's been a long time.) The views on the road are spectacular and almost make up for the hairpin turns and the trucks barreling down the road in the other direction. It's a little like being on a roller coaster. Go slow(for the views) and stay to the right ALL THE TIME!

And to the SYTYCD watchers, it's time to start calling Cedric Sanjaya (yeah, he can dance but not as well as the guy who got eliminated)

D, morning, I think Kimmy was also asking what the time difference is, and i think it is 8 hours difference from Atl.

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 8:49AM EST
Morning!

(it's me! I'm at a different computer this morning) Thanks D, I thought it was that long of a flight. We have a direct flight from ATL to Maui. And all of the things you said to do we're doing. We're going to the Old Laihana Luau and our trip to Hana we are going to Ono Farms organic fruit orchard so, I'm excited about that. I'm just a tad freaked out about that long of a flight but hopefully it'll be fine. We're flying Delta so, that makes me more comfortable.

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 8:51AM EST
An eleven hour flight?? Ouch!!! I thought I was going to die on a four hour flight. What do you do for 11 hours??

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 8:53AM EST
Hawaii is a 6 hour difference.

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 8:54AM EST
I'm not sure, I hope they have movies and alcohol:)

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 8:59AM EST
just kidding. i guess i need to get me a good book and get some sleep-which usually doesn't happen for me unless I am in my own bed-but, I'll have to think of something!

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 8:59AM EST
Is the flight at night? Perhaps you can sleep 8 of those hours.

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:01AM EST
we leave from ATL at around 1:30 and get to Maui at 7:00 pm their time. so, i'm thinking w/the time differences it won't feel like nighttime to me.

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 9:02AM EST
Be sure to get up and move around every few hours.

Hubby says to look for two for one Mai Tai's. Most of the restaurants had them while we were there.! They're very deceptive...2 can put you in a VERY good mood!

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 9:03AM EST
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Friday!

kimmy, I know someone who can protect you during your entire trip. I'll talk to Him.

Shaun and shay where the haites have you two been?

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:04AM EST
i meant to say 1:30pm ATL time...

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:06AM EST
cool, thanks Jexy & D:)

I don't even know what is in a Mai Tai but I'm willing to try!

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 9:08AM EST
Hubby's not flying to Hawaii in July, kimmy but he said to assure you that you will be well taken care of. Remember that, because it's summer, the ride will be bumpier. Hot air rises rapidly from the ground and creates turbulence. No big deal and it will probably get a little smoother once you're over the ocean.

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 9:08AM EST
jex, I have been real busy at work lately.... What is wrong with them?
I am on vacation next week, my brother and his family are coming in from LA, so i am looking forward to seeing them.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on June 29, 2007 9:09AM EST
Good Morning y'all!! Missed ya yesterday. My employer wants me to actually "work" in exchange for my paycheck. Can you believe that crap? WTH? I'll probably be busy, busy, again today but I will pop in from time to time.

Later Tater

(this is my only sad post today)

D, I totally thought of you last night...I was in Kroger and had to get bottled water and it was down the pet isle and as soon as I saw Dallas' favorite treats and toys I burst into tears, right there in Kroger. When I cry, I get all blotchy & red so I know people were thinking I was completely mental!

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:11AM EST
turbulence makes me nervous....last time on my flight to NY we had terrible turbulence and I was in the bathroom at the time! Nothing like trying to pull your pants up while you're being thrown back & forth!lol...

Posted by: Mitch on June 29, 2007 9:14AM EST
This was in an email a co-worker just sent me. kimmy, hopefully this will not happen to you...

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to
the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never
showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a
trained
professional and I was in good hands. "Now," she asked me, "has your
plane arrived yet?"

Kimmy the time difference is either 4 or 5 hours between Hawaii and here depending on DST. I think it is 5 hours now.

I lived in Hawaii 25 years ago when my father was stationed there for the Army. I went the University of Hawaii for 3 years. It was great. However, I never got to go to any of the other islands. My roommate at the time was from Kauai and had been to the other islands (of course) and had pictures too. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 9:31AM EST
Where'd er'body go?

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 9:33AM EST
Good morning good people. It's ol skool Friday lets get the party started!

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 9:33AM EST
oops. the time difference is either 5 or 6 hours (not 4 or 5). right now it is 3:30 a.m. in hawaii.

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 9:36AM EST
IdolLVR, how do you go to school in Hawaii and even BEGIN to concentrate on studies? I would daydream all day.

I would spell statistics with palm trees for the 't's, Romeo and Juliet would be Pineapple and Coconut and anthropology would only consist of half nekkid cabana boys.

How did you do it?!

Posted by: SugaBear on June 29, 2007 9:40AM EST
Good mownin' y'all

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 9:42AM EST
Hey Suga! What did you bring to the party?

I got two kegs.

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 9:42AM EST
It wasn't easy. I took all my classes either early or late so I could go to the beach during the day and "study". I'd stay up until 3:00 a.m. "studying". Actually I had a 3.9 average so I guess I didn't have too much trouble concentrating when I needed to! :D

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 9:44AM EST
Since I was paying my way through college (i was considered in state since my dad was military) i felt i probably should do as well as i can so i wouldn't waste my money...

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:46AM EST
thanks lvr...how cool for you! i'm afraid i might like it so much over there i might not come back! i'll just send for the kids and convert to being a beach bum for the rest of my life. really doesn't sound too bad:)

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 9:48AM EST
Kimmy this ones for you and your Hubby by Hawaii's own Don Ho.

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time

So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
And mostly here's a toast
To you and me

So here's to the ginger lei
I give to you today
And here's a kiss
That will not fade away

Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go, Jamaica

Off the Florida Keys there's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand, tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo

CHORUS
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo Montego, baby why don't we go
Ooh I wanna take you down to
Kokomo, we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go, way down in Kokomo.

Martinique, that Monserrat mystique...

We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity
Afternoon delight, cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye, give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo

CHORUS

Port au Prince, I wanna catch a glimpse...

Everybody knows a little place like Kokomo
Now if you wanna go to get away from it all
Go down to Kokomo

CHORUS

D, thanks for all the great insider information and tell your hubby thanks too:)

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 9:51AM EST
LOL! Tiny bubbles! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Is it too early to partake?

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 9:52AM EST
kimmy, it's a great place to visit but hugely expensive to live there (even on the beach).

Just be careful about asking the following:

1. do you take american money?
2. where are the huts?
3. do you celebrate christmas?
4. have you been to the united states?

Since they are a part of the United States they take great offense when visitors there ask any of the above!

Posted by: kimmy on June 29, 2007 9:54AM EST
how 'bout this one...

Nibblin' on sponge cake,
watchin' the sun bake;
All of those tourists covered with oil.
Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing.
Smell those shrimp--
They're beginnin' to boil.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.

Don't know the reason,
Stayed here all season
With nothing to show but this brand new tatoo.
But it's a real beauty,
A Mexican cutie, how it got here
I haven't a clue.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
Now I think,-- hell it could be my fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top;
Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home.
But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know, it's my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that there's a woman to blame, And I know it's my own damn fault.

I have all of this Patron!! Where are the mixers?

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 10:01AM EST
Sorry..hubby was on the computer...and don't know WHAT takes him so long. :-)

Crying in Kroger! Welcome to the club, kimmy!!! Actually, I cried in Kroger last week. I found a card to send to Greg, with this quote. (there's a picture of a rickety old ladder standing in a field reaching toward the clouds) "Slowly, one rung at a time, hope was built, and at last, the dreamer started to climb." I swear, I was very lucky nobody else was in the aisle or they would have called for the mental health professionals.

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 10:02AM EST
And don't let turbulence get to you...think of it like a ride at Six Flags!

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 10:06AM EST
Jex, I was here yesterday but didn't post because you guys were talking about shows that I don't watch, so I had nothing in common with the topic :-)

Tomorrow is test day for me. I went and bought me some #2 pencils yesterday and two big old erasers. I feel like I am in school all over again. LOL!!! I wanted to buy some Elmer's glue too just for fun so that i could put it on my hand and let it dry and then pill it off but that had nothing to do with the test, so I left it in the store :-(

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 10:08AM EST
Glue on the hand?? There's that ADD Mike was talking about.

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 10:17AM EST
It's a little early Jex but try this mimosa the breakfast drink of champions! It's got your orange juice AND champagne would you like a ham and cheese biscuit with that? :-)

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 10:21AM EST
"Do you take American money?" WTH? who would ask that?

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 10:29AM EST
Mmmmmmm. . . K, delish!

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 10:32AM EST
shay...good luck on that test honey...and don't let them tease you...I remember peeling Elmer's glue off may hand...but I wasn't one of those kids who ate the paste.

Posted by: Deirdre on June 29, 2007 10:33AM EST
Um...May might have had glue on her hand but I only peeled it off MY hand!

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 10:36AM EST
Just don't sniff the glue, shay.

This is the best song on Jimmy Buffetts newest album IMO.

Bama Breeze by Jimmy Buffett

At the Bama Breeze
You can shoot some pool down there
You can act a fool down there
You can play it cool down there

At the Bama Breeze
You can drink some beer down there
Argue, laugh, and cheer down there
Pass another year down there

Jimmy got caught smoking a joint
Out behind the bar
Sittin' in his car
And they took him to jail
The tip jar paid his bail

In 1984 Mick Jagger
Passed through town
Bought the house a round
Signed his name on the wall
In the Ladies bathroom stall... yeah

At the Bama Breeze
I turned 21 down there
Had too much fun down there
Stumbled out with the sun down there

Saturday Night the Bouncer Grady
Lets the ladies in free with the fake I.D
And the short-enough skirt
Yea figures what the hell could it hurt

Second set the owner Lulu
Get's up with the band
A beer in her hand
And sings "Freebird" slow
Then she raises a toast
Here's to Ronnie and the boys
Now everybody make some noise!

At the Bama Breeze
You're one of our own down there
You never drink alone down there
Good God I feel at home down there

At the Bama Breeze
You're one of our own down there
You never drink alone down there
Good God I feel at home down there

yeah! back at my computer-I feel like my old self again:)

I didn't like paste, I liked glue and rubber cement. Good luck Shay! You'll do just fine-take lots of deep breaths and don't second guess yourself.

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 10:44AM EST
Yeah, Jex, I thought that one was rather funny. I actually heard someone ask that when I was at the check out in a gas station in Hawaii. I about fell out and the look on the clerk's face was priceless. I don't remember her response to the idiot because I was trying not to laugh and almost hurt myself.

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 10:45AM EST
shay, just answer the one's you know right off first and go back to the one's you are sure about... Good luck and you will do very well!

Posted by: linnykat on June 29, 2007 10:49AM EST
g'luck shay-bird! you'll do GREAT!!!!

Posted by: Jex on June 29, 2007 10:52AM EST
shay, relax and don't doubt yourself. You know that you know the stuff.

When you get stuck on a question, keep one question in mind: WWJD - what would Jexy do?

Jexy would show that test who's boss! Jexy would kick that test's arse. And Jexy, my dear, would show no mercy.

You'll be fine. And take a shot of Patron before you start.

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 11:02AM EST
Thanks guys!! I have been studying my butt off. I am sure I will do fine, although I am not looking forward to writing an essay in pencil. I haven't used a pencil in like 3 years and to have to write a whole essay with one will be murder to my hands. Blue and black pens are my friends.

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 11:07AM EST
I feel ya' Shay. I hate pencil's too. So, after you pass and become a teacher, do we have to refer to you as Miss Shay from now on?

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:07AM EST
Good morning all you great people.

Kimmy, have a great time on your trip, wish I had a vacation lined up.

Shay, good luck on your test, just use all that smart intellect you use on us and you'll do just fine.

IdolLuv you had the ultimate childhood, growing up in Hawaii.

Posted by: SugaBear on June 29, 2007 11:08AM EST
Good luck tomorrow Shay!! You just may have inspired me to go ahead and get my teaching certificate. I only made it to student teacher and stopped when I got married :(

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:14AM EST
Jex and Suga where is the patron? I need a double dose. I have a client who is scheduled to close at 3:00 today and I need to be able to deal with her anxiety issues and one of the attorney's in my office just informed me that she has a meeting scheduled for 3:00 on Tues and I thought we were closing the office at noon that day, WTH. Why would any sane person have a meeting on the eve of the 4th of July!!!!!!

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 11:16AM EST
Eve, I wish I grew up there but unfortunately I only was there from the age of 18 to 21. Of course, that was the best time for me to be there because I was in college and could make my schedule however I wanted.

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 11:18AM EST
That's because they probably AREN'T sane... Didn't you say they are a lawyer?

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:18AM EST
IdolLvr that's even better, you entered your adulthood living in Hawaii. I have yet to visit there, but once I conquer my fear of flying it will mos def be #1 on the list and Africa #2.

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:19AM EST
IdolLvr, so true, they ain't sane and they are driving me freakin crazy too.

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 11:21AM EST
That would be Mrs. Wright, Kimmy!!

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 11:22AM EST
Eve, I have a fear of flying too but, I'm taking my azz there any dayum way. I also am flying to Florida in August so I'm hoping to have really good flights to get over that fear. D's hubby is a pilot so, she has been reassuring me alot:)

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:22AM EST
UUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! Sorry guys just had to let that out, just found out there's a meeting today at 3:00!

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 11:22AM EST
When is the test Shay?

Posted by: IdolLVR on June 29, 2007 11:23AM EST
Eve, don't you know about the underground tunnel from LA to Hawaii? Naw, just kidding. That's what we used to tell people when we came back with our car that had Hawaiian tags on it... They asked "How'd you get your car here?", my dad would say "We came through the underground tunnel"... Heh heh.

I want to go back for a visit with my daughter in a couple years. I still have a friend that I went to school with that lives there. Yeah, we've kept in touch for 25 years!

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 11:23AM EST

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 11:24AM EST
well, I didn't want to call out your last name here on this public blog so, my apologies Mrs. Wright:) but you know if you teach elementary school all those babies will be saying Miss....:) my sweet first grader included:)

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:24AM EST
LOL at Kimmy.

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 11:28AM EST
Eve, in real estate-nothing is ever easy. As agents we're expected to get all our shyte done pronto and then the lenders and atty's drag their feet and make us look bad to our clients. They didn't teach you that in the helpful classes that we have to take?lol...

Posted by: Eve07 on June 29, 2007 11:45AM EST
So true Kimmy. There's a lot those helpful classes don't teach you. I didn't know you were a realtor, how long?

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 11:46AM EST
Shay go at it with confidence and I am sure you will be fine. Do you know what school district you will be applying for?

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 11:47AM EST
Oh and Kimmy, don't worry about calling out my last name because Shay isn't my first name anyway and I am sure there are alot of Ms. Wrights.

Posted by: shay on June 29, 2007 11:48AM EST
KPH, I haven't decided what school district yet. Maybe Gwinnett. They have alot of openings since the county is growing so rapidly.

SYTYCD fans...the woman who substituted for the sick girl on the show is the subject of a What Not To Wear episode that is playing right now on TLC in the ATL area.

Thought you might be interested.

eve, about 6 years but, i'm in the administrative capacity now. i got tired of all the bs at night and weekends. i'm thinking about starting back up in a few years tho, once my kids are older.

Deirdre I thought the woman that took the sick girls place did a wonderful job. I did notice more lifts when the contestants did the dance last night though LOL! I also thougt the sick girl should not have been booted last night. Her partner Pasha I think his name is has got to be around at the end as he is one of the top 3 so far IMO.

Kimmy it is def a job and I'm currently doing it part-time and it takes all of my time but I actually like the challenges.

I have this question to ask you real estate folk (Kimmy and Eve)! How do you guys make it when the commissions are not consistent? I know the market is not that great now and I have always wondered what agents do when the market isn't great. Do most agents only do it part time?

Posted by: KPH on June 29, 2007 12:28PM EST
Just chillin on this ol skool Friday Flats how about you?

Posted by: on June 29, 2007 12:29PM EST
All the agents I know are full time. You just have to be very strict about your budget. One month you may have 1 closing or none and the next you may have 8, it just depends. You just have to be a good planner.
