5/30: My pre-12 predictions
By: Rodney Ho | May 30, 2007, 4:43AM EST
Just for amusement’s sake, I will now reveal what my top 12 was in order of elimination just prior to the start of the top 12 performance show. (Idol publicity helpfully sent me a chart with “X” stickers to block out the person whenever they get eliminated.)

ABOVE: This is a blurry shot of what they handed me. I started with Haley and went around counter-clockwise.
As you may be able to see, my predictive powers were pretty bad.
Rank, my prediction (actual elimination)
12- Haley Scarnato (9th) — I still can’t believe she stuck around as long as she did. I predicted she’d be gone every week during the semifinals and got burned.
11- Sanjaya (7th) — ‘nuf said here!
10- Brandon Rogers (12th) — Dullness did not pay off for the poor backup singer.
9- Phil Stacey (5th/6th) — He escaped (barely) elimination several times, then improved.
8- Gina Glocksen (9th) — I got this one about right.
7- Stephanie Edwards (11th) — Too many R&B singers in the mix doomed her.
6- Chris Richardson (5th/6th) — I was close on this one.
5- Jordin Sparks (winner!) — I didn’t start predicting her victory til about the time Gina was elminated. Clearly, I underestimated her at this stage.
4- Chris Sligh (10th) — I over-estimated his abilities at this point but he clearly started crapping out when the top 12 started. If his goal, as he said, was to make it on tour by hitting the top 10, he did achieve that.
3- LaKisha Jones (4th) — I was close on this one.
2- Blake Lewis (2nd) — Bingo! We all knew he was the “best” of the male singers and even at that early stage, I logically figured he’d be the last man standing.
1- Melinda Doolittle (3rd) — While always consistently good, I guess we ultimately felt as viewers that she didn’t have the star quality to make it all the way. Oh, well…

Hey! Leave Haley alone! Legggggssssss

RH,
I follow your thinking on the predictions, esp. when you base it on the early shows. Melinda was the top singer at that point with KiKi not far behind....Jordin just seemed to be OK at that point but contined to gather steam as she went.....she worked it just right obviously!
What'd everybody think of the final episode of House last night??? I thought it was pretty good. Wonder how they'll explain everybody coming back this fall?? A bad dream or something??

Good Morning All. I don't watch House. I did just out of curiosity start watching "On The Lot". Much better show than I thought it would be. Some of the contestants have really put together some good short films. This week they had to do a 1 minute comedy short. There were a few really good ones.

Mitch, I am watching "On the Lot" too, I love it. I was glad that the guy that did the nerd movie made it through, the judges gave him sucha hard time about his movie, I didnt think it was bashing the handicap.
Posted by: Mitch on May 30, 2007 8:33AM EST
He not only made through but was in the top 3. My favs were:
1. The Safe Lab 2. The Dancing Man 3. The Lucky Penny
If anyone wants to watch any of the clips, you can go to onthelot.com

i didn't get to see on the lot, not sure what was going on, but i watched the very ending of their results show last night (like 8 minutes) so i got to see the 1 that was in the top 3...the get a room one... i thought it was funny as heck!
hard to look at carrie fisher, especially since we've been watching a lot of the history channel's stuff about the mythology and legands of star wars, lol
but i think i might start watching it now that a lot of other shows have finally "finale'd"
Speaking of finales, House was definitely NOT what i expected, lol. Was a pretty good show... i loved the scene where house is standing by the girl's bed after she'd recovered and looks up and shrugs (presumably at god)
i too wonder how the heck they'll bring THAT one back... no way we could have a whole new crew, unless some of the "students" in that teaching scene ("human error?") will be pulled out to be his new team or something dumb like that.... cannot imagine it without chase and cameron and foreman, however. they're almost as important as house himself.
we'll see i guess!
you guys have a good day....i'm harnessing up for another fast-paced day!

Posted by: Mitch on May 30, 2007 9:32AM EST
Yeah Choc, that is the Carolina Panthers. I was living in Charlotte when the started. Pulled for the Falcons when I lived in ATL but was still a Panthers fan. Never did pull for the cowgirls when I lived in Dallas.

Good morning bloggers, I toggled between The Lot and Elton John's birthday celebration. I did catch The Lucky Penny and thougt it was very well done. I'll have to take a peak at The Safe Lab and The Dancing Man.

Good morning all, Rc House was great last night I do wonder how everyone will be reintroduced to the show next season.
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 9:51AM EST
Morning guys!! As I mentioned last week, I have 6 months of work to do. Well, actually 5 months and 3 weeks now. I did a week's worth yesterday :0)
Susan, if you read this, I read your post from the other day and any tips would be helpful.
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 9:57AM EST
Yeah, House was interesting last night. It surprised me that Cameron also resigned AND goes back to Chase. Interesting. Looking forward to next season.

Posted by: RC on May 30, 2007 9:59AM EST
CHOC!!
Wassup girl?? You lookin good as usual....
KPH, I liked House...I believe it's my fav drama right now....really the only one I watch.
I watched the last few minutes of the Lot show....kinda interesting to see those aspiring filmmakers.
Speaking of House, didn't anybody understand what House said was wrong with the girl's heart?
Posted by: KPH on May 30, 2007 10:03AM EST
Did anyone else have a little AI withdrawal last night?
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 10:07AM EST
KPH, I kept saying that I was missing something last night.
Posted by: RC on May 30, 2007 10:10AM EST
IdolLVR,
Reckon Fox will spin off Cameron and Chase to a new hospital (show)??
The only other drama I've really watched in the past couple years was Surface, and I wish I hadn't. The ONLY reason I did watch that tripe was because a girl I know from Stockbridge was the Mom of the kid with the pet creature.....she has done shows with the Henry Players, a community theater group south of ATL. Anyway, I guess she found a pet creature of her own as her being on the show caused her to leave her 'real' husband here....it was ugly all the way around.
Also know a girl that played in that TV drama show about ATL life last year that lasted what 8 shows?? She played the dead lady in the first couple shows.....lol....
sorry for writing a book....talking about tv drama woke my ol' brain up....
Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 30, 2007 10:21AM EST
Well, I'm on a TV haitus right now. 99% of my favorite shows are in re-runs (Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, Girlfriends, Extreme Makeover HE) So that leaves me with HBO on Sunday nights with The Sopranos & Entourage. I'm waiting for Big Love to come back as well as Weeds, on Showtime!!
I've never watched House cause the lead actor creeps me out, blech!
Posted by: Mitch on May 30, 2007 10:23AM EST
Does anyone watch "Hell's Kitchen"? It starts back in the next couple weeks.
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 10:38AM EST
I will be in NY this weekend, leaving tomorrow. RODNEY, wanna meet up for the Daughtry show? I wanted to catch "The Color Purple" but tickets are too high....
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 10:40AM EST
Hey Y'all! I'm definitely going through withdrawals. I had the remote in my hand last night and I was like, "uuuhhhh. . ."
Who won the essay contest to get the autographed CD?
Posted by: RC on May 30, 2007 10:45AM EST
Mitch,
I've found myself drawn to HK from time-to-time but to tell you the truth, I don't care for the 'Chefs" antics. The crap you see him do to the contestants would cause a jail sentence for most folks; I'm surprised he hasn't been stuck with a butcher knife yet....maybe they got some good security on the set? So in short, I object to the show due to the abuse handed out by the uncontrolled idiot.
Posted by: linnykat on May 30, 2007 10:57AM EST
Jexica! Rodney hasn't announced the essay winners yet :) It will be interesting to see what everyone has to say, i think ... at least, i THINK it will be interesting, lol!
Shaun, speaking of "too high" for tickets... it seems like almost everything is priced for the rich only... used to be us po' folks could go watch a show at least at a matinee, but anymore, everything is pretty outrageous! i mean, i gotta EAT! not to mention that little thing called a roof over my family's heads and stuff like that!
Posted by: KPH on May 30, 2007 11:00AM EST
I had to listen to my Daughtry Cd and part of my Taylor Hicks Cd to get my idol fix last night. LOL! Mitch we watched Hells Kitchen the last 2 seasons. Man I had no idea how intense it is through those doors when I am eating out. That chef (whats his name) is very demanding but gets the best out of them. I would never be able to work for a person like that myself. Im afraid he would be wearing some of those dishes if it were me he was yelling at ! LOL!
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 11:03AM EST
Linny, I agree, us po folks cant do nothin. Hey Jexy, Sup RC. KPH, how's it going? Good to see lots of folks still around. Choc, sup sexy? And a special shout to my girl Shay baby.
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 11:04AM EST
Thanks linny kat. I'm anxious to see what everyone said - and how they said it. And if Rodney had to sensor a lot of stuff. Which reminds me, is "butthead" a bad word?
Posted by: RC on May 30, 2007 11:06AM EST
Shaun.....what's happenin??
All good over here....
Posted by: linnykat on May 30, 2007 11:07AM EST
LOL! The other day, I was trying to tell my boss that an opposing counsel who'd called was being a butthead, so i said.... "So and so called and said this and that and the other, and frankly, he was being ..... Beavis' partner!"
No, butthead's just another descriptive word, IMHO!
Posted by: RC on May 30, 2007 11:07AM EST
Man....I didn't even see that essay stuff, what was it about?
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 11:16AM EST
RC, Rodney asked us to write in 1000 words or more why we don't like Shaun. Thus the butthead reference. Mine was over 500 pages.
JK. He asked us to do an essay on why we like this blog and what it means to us. The prizes included autographed CDs from Tay Tay and Kat.

Shaun, what are the prices for TCP now? I went in Feb '06 and paid right at $100 for an evening show. Are they higher than that now?

RC, I love to write. And I used to love those little Blue Books. Do they still have those? I guess now it's Blue Laptops.
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 11:48AM EST
Jex, you should try out for "On the Lot", I mean, you have already been in motion pictures before, so you are a natural to write them.
Posted by: linnykat on May 30, 2007 11:56AM EST
btw, the essays (really) had to be less than 150 words or something like that. NOT your long-winded stuff. Definitely limited in scope, if you get my drift.
I too love to write...can you tell?
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 11:59AM EST
OMG Shaun, I've watched on the lot and I would have to hurt someone if I were on a team and those people acted like they do on the show.
When I say, "fade to black", I mean, "fade to black" dang it! Not cut Pookie's hair.
Some people don't listen but think they know what you want even though you're telling them something totally different.
Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 30, 2007 12:01PM EST
Dayum!! Jexxy, Shaun just put your personal film experience on BLAST!!! LOL Uh oh!!
Shaun, $150 is pretty dayum steep! When you get to NY, try buying a matinee ticket the day of the performance. I think there's a ticket window in Times Square that does this...Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.
Anyone? Bueller?!!...
Posted by: linnykat on May 30, 2007 12:02PM EST
Shaun...big difference to write a script/screenplay and actually have one produced... since people become actively involved in the production, i.e., cameramen (generically used, folks, to include men and women), soundmen, actors, makeup, props, etc etc etc... what was put on paper sometimes just doesn't translate to the minds of those enacting or enabling the production, so it can be really frustrating! and sometimes even impossible! i admire these folks who are doing this...
one thing i noticed in the few minutes i watched... they were assigned a "comedy" minute to produce... and a number of the comments were "you should stick to another genre, comedy doesn't seem to be your thing" said in a variety of ways... well DUH... i'd be willing to bet some of those same people criticized would NEVER have conceived of doing a comedy film! but they HAD to in order to stay in the competition. Seems a tad unfair, even more so than asking a singer to sing another genre. A LOT more involved!!!
oh well
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 12:04PM EST
lol @Jex, you are a hoot. I know, it is good, right? Jex, seriously, if you write, maybe we can collaborate sometime.
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 12:04PM EST
OH! How ‘bout that show with the bitter ex-wives – Ex-wives Club, or something like that. I forgot who the other two ladies are, but Char Jackson need to sit her not-even-has-been ‘cause-she-never-really-was-in... arse down.
Girl he left you for a skank. Get over it. It happens to the best of us. Well, not to me, but still.
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 12:07PM EST
thanks Chco, will try it. Linny, I agree, thoughts dont always translate to others minds the way we see them and that can be frustrating im sure. Choc, maybe the reason for the increase is Tasia.
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 12:10PM EST
Collaborate on what Shaun? Last time we "collaborated", you claimed something 'popped' and I was freakin' out for two weeks.
Posted by: on May 30, 2007 12:19PM EST
I wont try that anymore, I was in pain too. lol Now that I've seen the "other" talents, I want to see what is going on in that articulate head of yours.

Shaun, I saw the photo of the topless Taylor and I, too became a little upset in the gastrointestinal region.

I'm back from the work monster for a few minutes.
RC, I don't know but it might be interesting for Chase and Cameron to have their own show. I think it would be better if they stayed on House.
I didn't understand what the girl had wrong except she had three somethings and should have only two.
I liked Hell's Kitchen last season though Gordon Ramsey is a bit outrageous. Half the time, I don't understand a thing he says!

I'm with you on that one Jex. Don't they still require blood tests b4 you marry?
Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 30, 2007 1:23PM EST
That part of the wedding vows that says "..in sickness and in health"...that's after the ceremony, right?
Just checking....
Posted by: linnykat on May 30, 2007 1:23PM EST
Whatever it was called, the third *something* in her heart was causing problems because it was not *hooked in* to the system like the others but was trying to do the same thing, causing the blood to do something it shouldn't. How's THAT for clarification *laughing my bootay off!*
I agree, Cam and Chase alone would not be NEARLY as interesting as them with House; and i don't think that Foreman will be gone, i think he'll probably not be on the season opener, but then come begging back somehow because wherever he went wasn't as exciting/productive/whatever as working with his evil nemesis, House, *grin*
well, work conspires to take me away again...bbiab!
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 1:24PM EST
Choc, I don't know if TB is something that comes out in a regular blood tests. And this particular case seems to be very unusual.
And YES I'm talking conspiracy. Just like the tainted Spinach thing. Folk tryin' to see how they can knock us off.
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:27PM EST
linny, I think you are right... Foreman will come dragging his arrogant hiney right on back to House cuz 1. he worked with House and nobody will have him 2. the work just isn't as interesting and/or 3. he likes the abuse!
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 1:27PM EST
What's poppin' Choc and Jex and Linny and Shaun and IdolLVR? What we discussing?? TB?? Who has TB??
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:29PM EST
We're discussing TB dude who's been quarantined in Grady by the Fed's. He traveled on 2 transatlantic flights and might have spread it around a little...
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 1:30PM EST
Oh Lawd!! Why would his dumb a* do that?
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:31PM EST
He's had it for at least 9 months and been on drugs. He was going to Athens I think for his wedding and the doctors recommended that he not go. However, he took that as permission to go since they didn't say "No, you can't go". So he went and may have infected two flights and who knows how many others...
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:31PM EST
To get married!!!
Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 30, 2007 1:32PM EST
Hey Shay!! Oh look, I made a rhyme. HEEHEE
Some dude is quarantined at Grady with TB.
Jex, all the more reason for the fiance to put the brakes on that marriage/wedding...oooh and the freakin' HONEYMOON!! OMG!! That marriage would never be consumated!! (I could make numerous jokes re: the honeymoon but since this is a PG13 movie and the jokes are mos def "R"...I'll keep 'em to myself) I'll just chuckle to myself...my coworkers will think my cheese has slid off my cracker...but WTH.
Posted by: Jex on May 30, 2007 1:32PM EST
This particular case of TB is very dangerous. He knew that. That's attempted murder.
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 1:33PM EST
BTW IdolLVR, I patented the word "dude" which I stole from Carla so if you want to use it, that's 50 cents from you (per use).
Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 30, 2007 1:34PM EST
Shay...a hustler in every sense of the word. How ar you gonna try and pimp the word "DUDE"?
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:36PM EST
Hmmm, shay. Did you check for other patents/trademarks on the usage of the word before you illegally obtained yours?
Posted by: shay on May 30, 2007 1:37PM EST
First of all, gimme my 50 cents for using it. Secondly, the gov't don't care what you pimp, as long as you pay. I paid to have that word "patented" and that's end of story. You can always use man, boy, jackass, him, he, it, or that, but you can't refer to a male as "dude" without paying up. It's strictly business. No hard feelings :-)
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:42PM EST
Maybe you ought to get your money back cuz I patented it back in 1970 and have renewed it three times since then - the last time just this last January. Which means the word isn't available until 2020.
Posted by: IdolLVR on May 30, 2007 1:43PM EST
Oops, make that 2027.

Just say DOODE, and make sure to capitalize it so Shay sees it every time you use it.

I didn't get many entries for the contest. I will announce the winners soon, though. I'm in New York right now... just arrived. Shaun-- if you want to meet up at Daughtry at Bryant Park, drop me an email at rho@ajc.com.

Shay's first clue that she was getting taken should have been the fact that she was paying a DOODE named Shuwon, who coughed a lot, worked out of the back of a 73 econoline van, and the paperwork headed said DAPORTMENT OF PATENCE.

Maybe I should go back and review all the blogs and see how many times "dude" has been used and get my $1.00 per use fee...

Starting with this blog... I see shay's used it at least 3 times...
