5/28: Jim Verraros - actor!
By: Rodney Ho | May 28, 2007, 12:11AM EST

verraros200.jpg

Remember Jim Verraros? If you watched the first few episodes of season one of “American Idol,” he made a big impression. He dedicated his audition of “When I Fall in Love” to his parents and sang the song with sign language. He showed tons of personality, even videotaping himself during the Hollywood rounds and “Idol” used it extensively. He surprised a lot of people by making the top 10, but clearly, airtime helped him out. He was voted out second in July 2002. Refresh your memory and re-live his journey here.

Since then, he became the first “Idol” to come out of the closet and embrace his sexual orientation. (R.J. Helton came out last year.) He had a couple of dance club hits and landed a major role in an indie gay comedy flick called “Eating Out” in 2005. The DVD became a surprise hit, selling more than 50,000 copies.

And now he’s promoting the sequel to “Eating Out” called “Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds,” which hits stores Tuesday, May 29. Amazon info is here.

Here’s the trailer to the sequel “Eating Out 2”.

I spoke with him recently and he’s was open and just plain nice. He had no guard up at all.

“It’s tough to find decent projects” as an openly gay male actor, he said. He was glad to see “Eating Out” become a cult hit given that it’s a “fun, lighthearted campy comedy.” Many gay-themed films tend to be dramatic and serious, he noted.

Here’s the advertised description of the film:

In the first Eating Out, Kyle (Jim Verraros) convinced his straight roommate to pretend to be gay in order to get the girl. Now, with the help of Gwen (Emily Brooke Hands) and Tiffani (Rebekah Kochan), Kyle pretends to be heterosexual in order to land Troy (Marco Dapper), the new guy (and nude model) who’s turning the heads of both men and women. He soon finds himself joining the campus ex-gay support group and nabbing a girlfriend (Tiffany)! Kyle’s ex-boyfriend Marc (Brett Chukerman) is horrified at the plan and decides to pursue the confused Troy with his own tactic — being his “out” gay self. Who will win Troy first?

Jim said he’s close to R.J. Helton, fellow season one contestant who used to live in Cumming and now resides in San Francisco. “He and I were always close on tour,” he said. “Throughout the show, I was one of the first people he opened up to about his sexuality. I didn’t say anything. I respected his wishes.” And when Helton told a satellite radio show last fall, he called Verraros afterwards and said he felt great. “It’s nice not to worry about it anymore,” he said.

As for Clay Aiken not saying anything about his sexuality, Verraros (who does not know him) pondered, “I wonder who’s telling him to be quiet. Someone is telling him not to say anything.”

He said he watched “Idol Rewind” on syndication this past season and “cringed” at his blonde hair. “I was dorky with glasses,” he said. But overall, “it was the time of my life” doing the “Idol” tour, he said. When he slipped and fell at Philips Arena in 2002 (yes, I was there), he said “I had to be a good sport. I was more bruised emotionally. It went down as one of the more embarrassing moments.”

That first season compared to now, “they have so much more money to spend on the show. Relatively speaking, we were eating Nutri-Grain bars. They’re eating lobster thermdor.” But he has no regrets: “We were a part of history.”

Thanks to the success of “Eating Out,” he says he now gets more recognized for the film than for “Idol.” He’s also doing a movie musical, with filming in Brazil.

He attends gay pride and gay-related events all the time. Earlier this year, he attended a Vegas event for Paula Abdul, where he met Paris Bennett, Lisa Tucker, Anthony Fedorov and Mandisa, who was accused of being anti-gay, based on an ambiguous comment she made on the show. “I was very aware of the comment [which she said to me was about her own lifestyle of eating too much, not gays]. I was very reluctant to talk to her. She knew my story. I was hoping those things said about her were untrue. She ended up being one of my favorite people. She’s so sweet. She’d never be disrepectful to anybody. I have nothing but good things to say about her.”

I interviewed him about three weeks ago, when they had reached the final four. He said he was “underwhelmed” by this year’s contestants. Blake, for instance: “Take away his beatboxing and what do you have? He’s alright. He’s fun. He’s interesting, I guess. We don’t see enough personality from these kids. We’re waiting for somebody to blow me away.” His pick at the time was (correctly) Jordin. “She’s young. She has the most potential. She’s adorable and sweet. She has that thing about her. She’s teh one I’m rooting for.”

As for Sanjaya and his ambiguous sexual orientation, Jim notes that he’s only 17. “He needs to deal with it on his own time.”

Sloppy Seconds? LOL

Posted by: shay on May 29, 2007 9:59AM EST
This Jim dude looks weird. I didn't watch season one that much.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:01AM EST
Jim was ... well different....been an Idol junkie since day 1 when I accidentally found it....I am seeking help for this addiction.

Posted by: SugaBear on May 29, 2007 10:06AM EST
Jim looks a LOT different!! I think I remember that performance. Both of his parents are hearing impaired?

Posted by: Carla on May 29, 2007 10:08AM EST
I remember Jim from Season 1. He was nice but he was not a good singer. I've tried to forget both he and EJ Day.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:08AM EST
Yes SugaBear..

Posted by: IdolLVR on May 29, 2007 10:22AM EST
Work, work and more work! Sheesh I hate getting back from a 3 day weekend and sure enough, ya have a email inbox full of crap to deal with...

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 10:24AM EST
Jim was not really much of a singer...think he got in on the hearing impaired parents issue. Don't know if he can act either.....maybe one of his films will show up on tv one of these days. All in all, season 1 produced 3 really good singers, and 2 pretty good singer3. Other than that the talent pool for the first season wasn't that good.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:27AM EST
Tamyra got cheated...just my opinion....and Justin should have never made the top 2.

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 10:30AM EST
MsA, Justin made top 2 on his personality and smile. He also had a way with a lyric. Not the best singer but one of the best performers. He was the last guy left standing and he was cute...that's a winning combination.

But I agree...I liked Tamyra and Christina better.

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 10:32AM EST
I STILL don't know why Nikki made it as far as she did...maybe it was the stripper label. :-)

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:32AM EST
I was thinking Deirdre...would have made it more interesting to have a Kelly/Tamyra show-down in the end...to me they were the most consistent.

Posted by: YoDaddy on May 29, 2007 10:33AM EST
Yes Tamyra was robbed. I stopped watching when she got booted. I still can't stand to see that grininng skull called Justin G.

Posted by: Negativo on May 29, 2007 10:36AM EST
D, being a gay pride activist is probably his only talent outside of signing. That said, he will be able to go very far in the entertainment industry with a little idol fame and militant, outspoken homosexual activism.

Angela, how does one get cheated? They are voted off not appointed off. Maybe you could make the case that she was better than fourth, and I agree that she was much better than low-talent pretty-boy Jason, but she was certainly not cheated.

Posted by: Negativo on May 29, 2007 10:38AM EST
BTW, I liked Nikki...

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 10:39AM EST
Ah, life goes on...have to take mom to a doc appt! I'll be back in awhile.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:40AM EST
I understand they get voted off...But based on talent alone...she should have been in the top..at least 2...not her fault America is tone deaf...JMO

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:41AM EST
Yodaddy...how does one get robbed?

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:43AM EST
I like many of them based on their personalities...but i is not a personality competition...so I have to separate that from the ones that can actually sing.

Posted by: Negativo on May 29, 2007 10:43AM EST
Angela, stop stealing my lines!

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 10:45AM EST
lol @ Negativo....I was preparing for you to curse me...

pull a "Rosie" on me....lol

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 11:18AM EST
Hey all. I'm back. Did anyone see Miss Graceful USA last night in the Miss Universe Pageant? During the evening gown competition, her feet slipped and she fell flat on her arse. After that she made the top 5 and was booed be the audience.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 11:22AM EST
I saw it on the news this morning Mitch...Ouch!!

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 11:25AM EST
It was too funny. Least she recovered very nicely. She missed a perfect opportunity though. Her question was "If you could go back to any point in your life, when would it be?". She should have said something about going back and not falling next time and then answer her question the way she wanted.

Posted by: Luvstoread on May 29, 2007 11:28AM EST
Mitch..
I had it on while reading a book. I was totally shocked that she was picked for the top 5 after what looked like she bounced back from the floor. And, I was totally shocked that Miss Japan beat out Miss Brazil. And, wasn't Dave Navarro's (rocker dude) question just totally stupid and juvenile.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 11:29AM EST
Poor girl...they played that on the news at least half a dozen times this morning...so she can just keep reliving it...lol

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 11:32AM EST
I was really surprised that she made the top 5 after the fall. The competition is to show poise and grace and I don't think sitting on the floor qualifies. I really thought Miss Brazil should have won. She was tops in every catagory and she was the only one that really answered her question.

I didn't like Dave Navarro's question either. Miss USA's question was funny coming from Tony Romo after she just fell. Remember when he sat in the middle of the field after blowing a pass that would have put the Cowgirl's in the playoffs last year?

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 11:34AM EST
Didn't watch Mitch...and don't even know who Tony Romo is...Isn't Dave Navarro Mr. Carmen Electra?

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 11:38AM EST
Perhaps she made it because instead of letting the fall destroy her, she showed poise in getting up? *shrug* i didn't watch, don't know, and didn't really care....all my sons were at my house, hubby grilled steaks, and we actually sat around and had some intelligent and non-confrontational (well, relatively so) conversation for a few hours!!!!

felt good, for momma, that did!!!

Posted by: Luvstoread on May 29, 2007 11:43AM EST
MsAng...
Tony Romo is the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Also, it's rumored that he is dating Carrie Underwood. Dave Navarro was Mr. Carmen Electra. Linny I sort of agree she did show poise after she fell by getting up and smiling for the judges. I can sort of see it both ways. Mitch... I thought Ms Brazil was tops too and talk about breathtakingly beautiful!!

Posted by: KPH on May 29, 2007 11:43AM EST
Good morning all, I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Agreed MsAngela, AI is a singing contest with a little entertainment value thrown in and not a personality or popularity contest. A lot of the voters just cant grasp that concept however. Entertainment ability does play a small part in it for me but I try to vote for the best singer first and entertainer second. Last year I voted for Taylor even though I thought he had the second best vocal ability in the top 5 (behind Chris D. not Kat) but was by far the better entertainer so last season I had to stray from my normal voting strategy a little as I was torn between Chris and Taylor. All the Taylor bashers need to buy his record and listen to him the man CAN sing very well. Now it seems that it is going to work out well for both of them. This season however there were no contestants in the same game as Melinda as far as vocal talent and she should have won going away but that is water under the bridge isn't it?

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 11:44AM EST
Thanks for the explanation Luvstoread...if it has anything to do with sports...I have not a clue....

Posted by: Luvstoread on May 29, 2007 11:48AM EST
On topic...I did see the movie Eating Out and actually liked it considering it was made on shoe string budget.

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 11:50AM EST
KPH...Good Morning....I agree with you...but let me add this...people have a hard time identifying a good singer if they are out of their listening realm...I mean people that like country will vote for a mediocre country singer...just because they like country...instead of a fabulous rock singer...because they aren't into rock...but to me a great singer is a great singer...no matter what they are singing...I don't care for rock...but Daughtry grabbed my attention right away...

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 12:00PM EST
Hmmm, re Romo & Underwood; I'd SWEAR she and that fiddle player have something REALLY special going; every time she looks at him there's a little *something* in her expression, in her eyes.... and first time they were on AI this year, she was flat out singing into his eyes most of the song, lol; this last time (finale) they were on, she avoided looking at him most of the song, but when she turned to him for his little solo, there it was again, that little spark of *something*.

just an observation from Linny-Kat's house (hubby commented on it, too)

see you guys later!!! lunchtime (leftover steak and potato mmmmmmmmmm yum!)

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 12:05PM EST
After Romo bombed the last play of the game last year that would have put the Cowgirls in the playoffs, Dallas was trying to blame it on Carrie. They said Tony had Carrie on his mind more than the game. They met when she sang the National Anthem at a Cowgirls game. BTW, even after living in Dallas for 3 years, I am still not a fan of THAT team.

I'm glad a bunch of y'all are still around, post "Idol." I am going to be on vacation the rest of the week in NY, visiting my parents on Long Island. By coincidence, I had planned to go into New York City Friday and Chris Daughtry will be performing at NBC's "Today" show, opening its summer concert series. I plan to swing by and check out the mayhem and post later that morning. I will also be visiting season one contestant Tamyra Gray, who is now performing in "Rent" on Broadway. So it will be a special "Idol Blogger In New York" edition. And I'll be missing Kat and Daughtry at the Arena at Gwinnett Saturday, as a result...

Posted by: MsAngela on May 29, 2007 12:08PM EST
GO DAUGHTRY!!! Tell him hello for me Rodney...and way to go!!

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 12:16PM EST
Wow. Rodney has become our own roving correspondent! That's great. And NYC in the late spring can be a pretty nice place. Enjoy!

Posted by: KPH on May 29, 2007 12:28PM EST
Hey Rodney try to get to the front of the railing and get a shout out to us from Al Roaker! I bet he will do it if you tell him who you are and about the blog.

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 12:30PM EST
I am ready for this week to be over. I am heading to Nashville next Monday for a week. I will get to see Josh Gracin, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler & Bucky Covington (among many others) in concert.

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 12:39PM EST
Great idea, KPH. Rodney knows how much we love fame and recognition.

Negativo, I already knew you liked Nikki. I knew it the minute I typed the word 'stripper'. :-)

Posted by: KPH on May 29, 2007 12:39PM EST
That sounds like a fantastic trip Mitch im sure you will enjoy it oh and if you get a chance kiss Carrie for me LOL!

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 12:40PM EST
Will you be able to blog, Mitch?

Posted by: shay on May 29, 2007 12:44PM EST
Mitch, I will be out of pocket next week too. Headed to sunny Orlando for 8 days.

Posted by: Carla on May 29, 2007 12:45PM EST
You guys stop rubbing it in.

Posted by: KPH on May 29, 2007 12:49PM EST
Ok everyone is leaving someone please take me with you! LOL!

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 12:54PM EST
I will have my PC with me in the room. I will probably only be able to post updates at night. I have a website I can upload pics to. I will upload them and let you know what the link is. There are over 100 artists that will be performing during the week. This is our 7th year going. I'm not sure if I am going to attempt to meet Carrie this year or not. Getting up at 3 AM to get in line to be ready when she starts at 12:00 noon is a little more than I like.

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 1:07PM EST
That's great, Mitch...we'll have a reporter in NYC and another one in Nashville. we're gonna be in hog heaven here on the blog!

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 1:10PM EST
Just heard from the road trip guys. they are stopping in the Big Easy tonight and doing a little celebrating on Bourbon Street! Sounds like fun to me.

shay...Orlando! I'm so jealous!

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 1:10PM EST
What's the event you're going to, Mitch? I just found out my son will be going to, i THINK, the Asheville Music Festival (except i don't think it's "festival" but another word) and working with one of the promotors to set up sound, equipment, etc, food and board provided -- and earning $300 to boot. But i am pretty sure it was Asheville, not Nashville, lol!

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 1:12PM EST
hmmm looking at google, maybe it's Asheville Music Jamboree...

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 1:12PM EST
Hubby is on his way home from his latest European adventure. I'll get back with you guys later!

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 1:14PM EST
It is CMA Music Fest. For 30 years it was called Fan Fair. They will be taping alot of the the performances to be used for an ABC special later in the Summer.

Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 29, 2007 1:17PM EST
Vacation? Vacation? What is that? I'm stuck here working...blech!! I am soooo jealous!!!

Mitch & Shay...have fun and a drink for me!! ( :

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 1:19PM EST
I have to be a good boy this year. No drinking. Since Paul's stroke last year, the doctor told him not to even sniff it. Since he can't, I won't so that I don't tempt him. So the only mixed drinks we will be drinking is Crystal Light.

Posted by: Rodney Ho on May 29, 2007 1:30PM EST
Oops. I erred. Daughtry will be moseying over to Bryant Park for "Good Morning America." A bunch of country singers will be over at Rockefeller Center Friday...

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 1:32PM EST
Rodney, do you know who the country singers are?

Posted by: CHOCL8T on May 29, 2007 1:33PM EST
Mitch, that's understandable! Hold up a glass of Crystal Light for a toast to the hardworking girl in the A-T-L!!! ( ;

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 1:37PM EST
I will do that Choc. I hate that it took what it did for him to quit. I had just wanted him to cut back. In three weeks he will have gone a year without touching in alcohol. Now to just get those cigs away from him. LOL

Posted by: on May 29, 2007 1:39PM EST
Vacation.....6 weeks and counting, daydreaming.....I will be in Maui sans children (1st time ever) for 8 days..........*sigh*

work has me crazy....i'll try to pop in here & there.

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 1:59PM EST
Mitch have a BLAST!

Rodney.... enjoy whichever one you go to (I'm assuming you'll be following the Daughtry path?)

Shay.... enjoy Orlando, but I gotta tell you, i do NOT envy you that trip, lol!!! I was flat wore OUT after i too my little one (of course that was 34 years ago!)

Rodney.... just out of curiousity, did you get lots of "essays" and have you read them yet? or should I ask, LOL!!!???!!!

Posted by: linnykat on May 29, 2007 1:59PM EST
OMG kimmy that sounds DEEEEEVINE!

Posted by: shay on May 29, 2007 2:03PM EST
Linny, I can't even remember 15 years ago. Better yet, I can't even remember what I had on yesterday. How in the world do you remember 34 years ago?

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 2:07PM EST
linny, just to give you an idea of how much fun we have at CMA Music Fest. The tickets for next year will go on sale on the Saturday of this year's festival for those in attendance before they go on sale on Monday to the general public. We take turns camping out in the ticket line every year (This year is Paul's year. They open 8 ticket windows at a time. We always get one of those 1st 8 orders. The line is usually around the block by the time they open.

Damn near broke my heart

House, I haven't stopped crying yet. Deep down, I really wanted 25 & 18 to run out of gas. It would have been great to see Kyle Petty in victory lane again.

Posted by: on May 29, 2007 3:13PM EST
ok, I gave Nascar a try.....after seeing that the drivers can't plan when they need to gas up.....I'm done! I'm sticking to football, baseball & tennis....

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 3:16PM EST
kimmy, when football season rolls around, NASCAR will probably be an afterthought for me this year.

Posted by: shay on May 29, 2007 3:21PM EST
Kimmy, I tried watching NASCAR and seriously got dizzy watching the cars so I had to flip the channel before I flipped my lunch.

Posted by: Mike S on May 29, 2007 4:11PM EST
I was waiting for the world to end Sunday Night -- or at least hear reports of heavy frost in hades. Kyle Petty in 3rd, a Toyota in the top 5????

Hey y'all! I've been so busy with work today that I didn't have much time to visit the blog today.

Mitch, keep praying about Paul and the cigarettes! I prayed for my sister to quit and she finally did about 7 years ago. Now she can't stand the smell of cig smoke!!

Kimmy, I'm even more jealous of you and your upcoming Hawaii trip!! ( : I know I don't have to say it for you to do it...but ENJOY!!!

Although I love fast cars, I just can't get into NASCAR. I've tried. It will be football for me this year. A co-worker gave a football beginner's guide for X-mas!! She's a fanatic...as well as my sister. Now I've just got to pick a team other than the Falcons & the Saints to follow. ( ;

Posted by: Susan65 on May 29, 2007 7:06PM EST
Good evening - after a long weekend, I had a ton of work to do and could not enjoy reading you guys on the blog. Now I am catching up.

Does anyone down there watch Indy? I did because my sister was sitting with Danica Patrick's family and we were looking to see if she would be on TV...

Posted by: WandaC on May 29, 2007 7:41PM EST
I'm hanging around trying to keep up with you guys. I'm still tired from my "vacation" in the ATL. The highlights were cleaning my mom's refrigerator, and falling down the steps at the cabin we rented. I'm so tired I could sleep for a week.

Posted by: Mitch on May 29, 2007 8:06PM EST
Choc, I have just the team for ya. Their colors are black and blue and they will probably beat the Saints & the Falcons (ducking) twice each this year.

GO PANTHERS!!

Posted by: Deirdre on May 29, 2007 8:26PM EST
Hey! Hubby let me have WAY too much wine tonight. Greg called from New Orleans and is having a great time even though it's raining.

I'm a Falcons fan but I'm a little fearful that Vick will be charged with a felony soon and have to leave the team to mount an expensive and, ultimately failing, legal defense.

I think I'll go lie down now! Be good! No need to be strong anymore! Somebody wake me up tomorrow!

Posted by: Diane1 on May 29, 2007 8:51PM EST
I can not disagree with Mitch but i will add, Go Steelers!! I have been a Steelers fan since time began but i can not ignore the Panthers either!!

By Thursday, I will be able to blog with you guys in the afternoon. I come home exhausted most evenings. So what do we watch now?

Rodney, Please follow Chris D.

Deirdre maybe Rodney can get you tickets to see Kat and Chris at the Gwinnett Center. You can tell us all about it. The drive alone would be an adventure.

Posted by: Diane1 on May 29, 2007 9:53PM EST
I looked at the montage of Jim, but since I really didnt get to hear him sing, watched another video. I am sure the deaf parents angle helped him get to the top 10. He would not have made it at all in season 3-6 without the parents. Then again, Jordin didnt even get to an audition her first time trying out.

jim really looks different in the movie, on AI and in the cover above. Is that a CD cover, it doesnt say?
What i really enjoyed was watching the top worst auditions from past seasons. AI may want to cut the award portion of the finale and bring back just showing the season's worst auditions. The bird lady this season was just plain awful.

Rodney, who brought of Clay in your interview? A friend of mine is adamant that Clay's personal business is just that his personal business and he should not say anything. We should not ask and he should not be forced to tell. And why was Sandy mentioned? He is not even an adult yet. Although he has his GED, he needs to go back to school. No one has asked me and boy could i tell you some stories if you did.

I know i am doinig it again, but i am still catching up on all the news. I saw the videos:
regarding Miss USA at the pageant. She did a really good job of recovering from the fall.
Rosie and Elizabeth - I wonder if she is not her own worst enemy.
So Carrie really is dating Romo? thought that was just a rumor.
A player on the Patriot's team died in a jet ski accident this week-end. Neither he nor his companion were wearing life vests. Such a sad time for all.
Something has to be done about the paparazzi. Poor Lindsay is suffering from it all. And why are the police giving a press conference to announce they found coke in someone's car?

Diane, there are times when I dislike the paparazzi (Princes Di) and times when I don’t mind the paparazzi (Lindsay Lohen). Lindsay has been courting the paparazzi for many years, making more fame then her acting / singing should give her credit for. Now I just wish that she and Paris would go away. Let us be mad at the paparazzi for bugging the real celebrities.

I do have to say I agree with you Diane when it involves the questions regarding Clay and Sanjaya. Jim’s assumptions are about as valid as mine – which doesn’t amount to much.

And GO STEELERS! While we are at it Go Blazers! Number one pick!!!!!!

I am gay & I saw Eating Out 2 at the Palm Springs International Film Fest in January 2007. It was very funny, and I would recommend it highly. As far as AI and coming out, let's start with Ryan. HEEELLLLOOOO.

When I saw a taping of AI dress rehearsals during Latin Music week, Neil Patrick Harris (aka Doogie Howser, M.D.) was in the front row. He is gay & out & very happy.
