3/30: Ricky Minor interview
By: Rodney Ho | March 30, 2007, 10:53PM EST

Sorry. I’ve come down with a nasty case of food poisoning and have been more or less out of pocket the past 24 hours.

I still feel awful but I’m at least functioning now.

Associated Press did a profile on Ricky Minor, the bandleader.

Each week he oversees a staff of 45 musicians, arrangers and copyists. He was also instrumental in bringing some certified superstars to the “Idol” stage, including Prince, Mary J. Blige and Al Jarreau.

Is it just me, or does Minor sound just a littttttle too impressed with himself?

I'm thinking up a new secret woyd for Saturday. First one to say it gets a large cash award right after I win the big lottery :-)

So, what brings you to the late night blog, Ms. Wanda?

Well Neg/Bob, I was sick earlier today and took a very long nap. Now I can't sleep!

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 2:05AM EST
Rodney, you can't eat at the Varsity every day! You have to space your visits!

Hope you are better soon!

Wanda to say Rickey was kind of full of himself would be like saying Rubuen was slightly over weight. Look at the number of times he said I rather than we. Look at the number of times he mentioned the people who helped him get started and along the way. Look at the number of times he name dropped. Then again, these are excerpts. I would love to see/read the full interview or at least most of what was said to make sure they didnt edit it down to what would sound controversial. What is American Idol without controversy.

But he did mention what i liked about the show earlier. Even though a few people had a CD floating around in their house, they mainly sang with the "cows". Raw talent!!!

Hey i was more concerned about having my computer hacked rather than breaking the lww when i was using those unsecured networks. are u serious Wanda? Dail up is 5 bucks an hour while i am at Dad's house in NC. i have to dial into a long distance bellsouth number. So i had to find an unsecured network before dial up put me in the poor house or drove me crazy because it was so slow.

hmmm why do unsecured networks even still exist? i do remember the case of the man who would park his car in someone's front yard and use their wireless connection. And that was pretty much what i was doing for the past couple of days.

Wow!! i could have been arrested.

Giiiiiirrrrrrl, on the run!!

Posted by: Diane1 on March 31, 2007 7:07AM EST
okay,

i did some research that just cost me 5 dollars. There is real debate about whether what i am doing is really illegal. all i can say i have to do it one more time today, then i will stop. at least until i come home again.

Posted by: Diane1 on March 31, 2007 7:11AM EST
When Rodney is better, Wanda mention to him again about the chat room for AI. It may be that we have to go elsewhere, but i would love to keep this within our group of bloggers.

Ugh...i just got up.... mornin' if anyone is still around, i have to run to the bank before it closes... speaking of banks, did anyone see the vent...is it true? DOES Bank of America's automated teller now say "to send money to Mexico press "Safe Send" or "1"???

Negativo/Chameleon, Deirdre, Wanda, Diane, and anyone else who happens to be around, have a lovely day!

And RODNEY! Hon, sooooo sorry you got *it* ... hope you are feeling better and quickly, it's no fun!!!

me....OUT

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 10:30AM EST
Diane, we can sit here at home and do a scan or whatever it's called and hit a half dozen wireless houses, most unsecured. That's just stoopid! We are behind so many firewalls here it ain't funny!

Some businesses offer wireless to their customers, but I bet the bank ain't one of them :-) Panera Bread is one around here, I'm not sure who else.

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 10:32AM EST
Linny, when you go to the bank, can you pick up some free samples for me? Thanks!

Posted by: Deirdre on March 31, 2007 11:24AM EST
I just got back from Pike's! I love Spring!!!! My garden looks so pretty now.

Posted by: MsAngela on March 31, 2007 11:39AM EST
Deidre...is it safe to plant already? I heard there would be a couple more frosts before safety.

Posted by: MsAngela on March 31, 2007 11:44AM EST
Sorry...spelled your name wrong again!!! Deirdre...

Posted by: linnykat on March 31, 2007 12:08PM EST

Posted by: Deirdre on March 31, 2007 12:38PM EST
MsAngela...I only bought hanging baskets so far....that way I can bring them in if it gets cold again.

Posted by: MsAngela on March 31, 2007 12:40PM EST
Ok...I had planned to go get plants and get going today...till I heard about a possible frost about mid-week...

Posted by: linnykat on March 31, 2007 1:31PM EST
and our fig tree already has figlets!!!! omg.... figures, we usually lose the first batch to frost :-(

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 3:29PM EST
mmmm fig preserves!!

The old folks say it isn't safe to plant until after Easter.

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 3:31PM EST
BTW, nobody has said the secret word yet. Hint: it's one of Simon's favorite!

Posted by: Diane1 on March 31, 2007 4:54PM EST
yet again, i blog on an unsecured network. now i am at my sister's house. she does have dial up but i like this so much better. she has a certain spot i have to set up at in the kitchen, but it still works. flight leaves in an hour or two. Airport is so small i only need 30 minutes to catch my flight.

Posted by: Deirdre on March 31, 2007 5:41PM EST
ACCCCTUUUUALLLLY!!!!!!!

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 5:56PM EST
LOL D!! Actually, that was yesterday's secret woyd, actually.

Posted by: linnykat on March 31, 2007 9:01PM EST
Wanda.... old indian lore... plant above-ground plants (corn, beans, etc) on the changes dates by moon phase, that actually makes sense) and hubby always used to do that when we had room for a garden, with great results; on the other hand, root plants should be planted in the dark of the moon phase.

Posted by: linnykat on March 31, 2007 9:01PM EST
say the secret woyd and win a hun'red bucks!

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 10:25PM EST
I learned all my planting tales from my Irish mother who was raised on a farm. My Cherokee daddy was a city boy. I have a brown thumb! LOL! I once killed a cactus....and my silk ficus tree isn't looking so hot.

AND I HAVE MY TICKET TO ATLANTA!!! Coming in May for 10 whole days :-))))))))))

Posted by: WandaC on March 31, 2007 10:30PM EST
Rodney, the Living Vent guy/gal needs to go. It is never up on time, and sometimes not at all. Don't make me come down there! Oh wait, I AM coming down there! WHEEEEEEEE!!

Posted by: linnykat on March 31, 2007 10:42PM EST

I talked to my mother last night and she did nothing but complain about the pollen. I asked her to be sure it is all gone before I get there. She actually had to cut our conversation short because she was losing her voice....hmmmm :-) It usually takes me an hour to get her off the phone, long distance!

Posted by: MsAngela on April 1, 2007 9:59AM EST
Hey Wanda....you talking to yourself? Good Morning by the way....:)

Posted by: Deirdre on April 1, 2007 10:59AM EST
Wanda...the pollen has been horrendous this year cuz everything popped out at about the same time...add that to no rain and I'm sure you can imagine. We should get rain today which I hope will help. The usual dusting of yellow pine pollen that covers everything is more like a blanket this year.

Posted by: WandaC on April 1, 2007 12:38PM EST
D, Mom is just sick from it this year. I suggested that she just say inside, but she can't be still. She has to go to the senior center, bingo game, dominos games, all sorts of stuff. She is more active than I am! My oldest son is asthmatic and he is sick too, but at least he is trying to stay indoors.

Oh, and tell your husband thank you for the ride to Atlanta and back :-) Delta is ready when I am!

Posted by: kph on April 1, 2007 12:40PM EST
Aaaaacheu! thank God it is raining outside in Hiram!
