Tatiana McConnico, 17, of Austell made an impression on last night’s “American Idol” and went off to Hollywood. We have no clue if she makes the final 24 but regardless, a quick google search of her name and she pops up a few times.
She won, for instance, a teen pageant in the Virgin Islands in 2003. Check this out..
She played Dorothy in the Kenny Leon version of “The Wiz” back in 2005, according to this news item. And our AJC theater reveiw even mentions her positively in a review of the play.
Four years ago, she performed on CBS’s Star Search.. Here’s her head shot from the CBS site:
She performed in “The Color Purple,” according to this story.. Wendell again namedrops her in his review.
I was impressed with her last night. Of course Lisa impressed me with her audition too, and then showed no ability to adapt when the finals rolled around.
It will be interesting to see if Tatiana is another Smile, turn, sing the line, smile, place hands on hip, smile, sing second line automaton.

She's a friend of my daughter's and attends Pebblebrook. She did a great job!!
Mike, don't start over here. This morning it was coffee. Now it's Coke. I'm running out of paper towels.

They interviewed one of her friends on Q100. The friend said she was pretty hush hush about whether she made it to the final 24. From what I have seen so far, I would be surprised if she did not make it.

Thanks Janet! How is she "in real life" ??? She looks like she has a lot of potential, but lawdy, she's so YOUNG (as was Paris, as was Lisa, etc etc)... i know they need to start sometime, but i swear i REALLY wish they'd say you have to at least be graduated from high school to enter.... such a disruption of a very important time of life, i would imagine! let 'em grow UP a bit, dang it!!!
that is to say, let 'em stay YOUNG a little while before you push them out into the cold cruel (and simon, randy and even paula can be cruel!) world!!!
"Smile, turn, sing the line, smile, place hands on hip, smile, sing second line automaton." LMAO!!
That was SO Lisa! Let's hope Tatiana has some versatility.

The only two high schools in Austell are Pebblebrook and South Cobb High which is my alma mater. I was in the band, and our band was 10 times better than their's. ;-)
I have high hopes for Tatiana, she seemed to be more "bubbly" than Lisa was in her audition. Usually that translates into more animation on the stage also.
If Tatiana can find a nice middle ground between Lisa's robot performances and Paris' over the top grandmama ubercoreography she could go very far in the competition in my opinion.
Well, Georgia lost a bigtime recruit today :-( Cameron Haywood chose Ohio St over Georgia.

Mike S... Yes, they did; however, we were ranked as one of the top high school marching bands in the nation. At the time, I was not a big fan of football like I am now. Jex, I graduated in 80... So, it's a free for all now as to where you can attend it seems like...

"grandmama ubercoreography" i LOVE IT.... but then "ubercoreography" could apply to soooooooooooooooo many pros out there already!

Mskt... My Senior Year we won the Marching Bands of American Southeastern Regional finals. What a night that was.... It rained cats and dogs!!
Hey you are only one yr behind me. Class of 79 :-)
Of course I went to Southwest Macon -- Sucked at Football, but home of the National Champions in Basketball in 1979.

Mike S... That sucks about Haywood. I still think that this year they will be a contender. Now, if we could just beat Florida...k...gator fans...please don't start..
LOL LInny.. You are correct, most of the current "stars" choreography is over the top.
That was my only complaint with Paris last year (some of the outfits not withstanding) -- I never did figure out what was Paris, what was Grandmama's creation, and what was just straight impersonation of the original.
I think this year will all come down to Stafford Luvstoread. IF the Stafford of the Auburn game and second half of the Florida, Ga Tech and Va tech games shows up, the Dawgs are golden :-)
Of course there is the worry of a defense that is replacing 9 starters... but that is more of a reloading instead of a rebuilding when you consider that Kade Weston, CJ Byrd, Paul Oliver etc etc etc are part of that.

Mike S... I couldn't agree with you more. Fall is just around the corner. Of course, we need to make it through AI first. ;-)...

One more thing... Richt needs to let him play all the time. None if this two platooning quarterbacks!!
I'm glad Tatiana is a little seasoned. For some reason she gave me the impression that she's a sweet girl but when she started singing I saw a very confident, I'll blow you away type person. Kind of like Beyonce who seems to have a very sweet persona in interviews, but she always says her alter ego takes over when she performs. IMO that's the best way to be, keep the two personalities separate and everyone will like you.

Shay... One day it's going to happen!!

I live in athens, but...i'm NOT a dawg fan.... i used to live in florida, but i'm not particularly a gator fan... don't even really enjoy football like i used to... i support the Bucs since i got to go to lots of their games early on, including their big winning year in the 80's, cuz my parents had season tix... just can't find it in my heart to cheer loudly for the dirty birds...*shrug*...
that seems sooooo far away right now anyway... i would like to see the colts win, cuz i always DID like Tony D -- hated it when Tampa let him go... but i, like my hubby, really haven't thought much of the Colts since Johnny U q/b'd for them, and i cannot even TELL you when that was!!!
*rock.....rock.....rock.....rock* thanks whoever found me a rockin' chair! now all i need is.... oh....nevermind.... i forgot what i needed........ ......... ......... .........
So Eve, you are a Beyonce fan too? Good, because me and Carla have to defend her on this blog to people who think she has a pretty face and no talent..... cough, cough Jex!! :-)
And Deirdre, how did you know I would be jealous about msteven's reluctance to include me in his favorites? You know me so well!!
SO - LOS ANGELES tonight ... will we be deluged with KATHERINE wannabe's? Silicon Sisters? or the wierd assortment of Fruits, Nuts and Flakes that make up CALI?????
Or all three?
FROM THE SAME PERSON?

I googled her, how did she go to Sandy Springs Middle and live in Douglasville (according to the pagent data)? She probably does attend Pebblebrook since that is the performing arts magnet for Cobb County and she now lives in Austell.
No not yet...due march 7th but i think he's gonna come a little early. Missed you guys tho, sorry I answered so late. I'm gonna make sure I watch AI tonight and talk to you guys tomorrow afternoon. Have a good evening.

While I haven't watched any of AI (I prefer to wait until they get to Hollywood) I did see Tatiana in The Wiz last year and was very impressed! I think she'll do better than other young idols because of her acting skills and stage presence.

I know Tatiana very well as we went to school together for 5 years and were close friends. She lived in Sandy Springs and attended North Springs High School before moving and transferring to Pebblebrook High School.
She is full of life, passionate about singing, and hardworking in pursuit of her dreams. I don't know if it will translate to national television, but hearing her sing in person ALWAYS gave me chills. I am so happy for her!

Tatiana does attend Pebblebrook HS. How do I know? I teach there and she was in my honors chemistry class last semester. She is just as talented, intelligent, articulate, and sweet as you saw on TV. She also has a clear head and is focused on her goals.

I was Tatiana's vocal coach for awhile (age 14/15). She always did excellent work. I was impressed with her from the beginning. As you can see she is poised for a long career in music and entertainment. I'm so proud!

What a fabulous start!! You have already convinced us all (not to mention Simon) of your title as American's next star!! You continue to shine and glow in beauty everytime I see you. So I just want to encourage you to keep up the fantastic work. P.S. You are a celebrity!!

It's destined, boo!
LOL! Good luck, Tati.. I love youuuu!! "It's ya girl StayLow.. when i come thru da door!.."
