1/30: Kat McPhee's new CD
By: Rodney Ho | January 30, 2007, 7:05AM EST

With her new CD out today, “Idol” runner up Katharine McPhee is on a major promotion tour of talk shows this week and even has a guest appearance this Thursday on “Ugly Betty.” Her new self-titled CD is a potpourri of styles, a bit of R&B, a smidgen of pop and a couple of soaring ballads.
Question #1: Will top 40 radio take to her kiss-off song “Over It”? It’s pleasant enough but let’s just say it’s no “Too Little, Too Late” or “Irreplaceable.” She sang it Monday on Leno.
Quesiton #2: Will anybody buy the CD? I predict it will open modestly, at about 40 to 50,000 copies and do about as well as Justin Guarini or Diana DeGarmo, in the 150K range. But if radio loves her singles, that could change in a heartbeat.
You can listen to the CD here on AOL.
I did a cursory first listen of the release. There are actually better songs than the single “Over It,” including several catchy top 40-style songs, including the lead song “Love Story.” The ballad “Home” has potential. “Open Toes” is a fun dance confection. “Not Ur Girl,” a song she helped cowrite, is a decent pop tune. “Do What You Do” sounds like it should have been given to Nelly Furtado or Fergie. “Better Off Alone” is a snoozer of a torch song. In fact, the second half of the CD is pretty much filler and the release as a whole feels cobbled together by committee rather than a statement on who Katharine McPhee is. But that’s what we expected, eh?
Here’s a so-so Boston Globe review.
This is the mediocre AP review
Here’s a Q&A in which she answers with impressively bland answers.
For example:
What should fans expect from this record?
It’s not a record that I’m just trying to be like, “Oh, I want to be like everybody else.” It’s something I really relate to and it’s something that is a part of me. I think when you walk away from this record you’re going to feel like you know a part of me better — the girl who was in college or the girl who was in high school versus the girl who was on “Idol.” You just get to know a little bit more which is important for a new artist.

Well, Taylor has done so well that he really raises the bar for Kat. (Where's that sarcasm smiley when I need it?)

Woohoo First in today.
I tried to listen to some of the cuts on this crap passing as a CD. It is a nonstop screech fest of ungodly proportions. THe girl tries to be Maria, Whitney, Christina, Brittany etc all wrapped up into one -- and fails miserably. BLECH BLECH BLECH.
And the cover shows two things -- FIRST - her horrid fashion sense has gotten no better what so ever. Is she supposed to be a ZEBRA????? and SECOND - When you have to resort to MAXIM/FHM style photo shoots on your CD Cover and inside it is a sure fire sign that the CD SUCKS and you are just trying to sell it with sex appeal.
My wife saw a commercial yesterday for this CD and her response was " Was that an add for her CD or a PORN movie"?????

Correct Deirdre - it will be interesting to see if Kat can open at #2 like Taylor did.

Morning Mike and Deirdre. My guess is, Kat's CD won't do well at all. I would suggest her going the "model" route as opposed to singing. Not that I don't think she has voice, but she is just "ordinary" and that ain't gonna get it in this industry.

Morning Shay, Deirdre :-)
On a different note : Carrie Underwood's CD topped 10 MILLION in sales, and was the #1 selling CD of 2006. She has another #1 single in "Before He Cheats" and the CD is actually moving back UP the charts (#15 this week I think) after 60 weeks on the charts.

According to Great American Country Countdown : Kellie Pickler - "Red High Heels" is the #2 Country Single this week!! Carrie "Before he Cheats" has slipped to #3.

Good morning everyone.
Did anyone see Kat on Leno last night?

Wow! That's great for both Carrie and Pickles.

How did she do House? Or were you too busy starring at her chest. LOL!!

Morning. I just can't bring myself to listen to Kat's songs. I'll take your word for it Mike.
Good for Carrie and Kellie. Carrie's cd really is good.

Good Morning Everyone!
Taylor was on Good Day Atlanta this morning and I forgot to record it. I could kick myself.
Haven’t I been saying all along that there was absolutely nothing special about Kat. Certainly not concerning her singing. She wanted more camera time than a singing career. Looks like she’s got all she can handle now.
Bless her heart.

Shay, you do know me all too well....but actually believe it or not, I was passed out. I did not see her performance or 'the ladies'

Morning All,
Note: whoever sent me that sinus infection can have it back at anytime AND let me ask did you mean to have it take my sense of balance away too? ???? Being a staggering puggy without the benefit of at least a couple of Lemoncello's was really the pits :(
Kat is such a sultry beauty they should have had her in a long satin skin tight gown standing next to a Baby Grand piano ...that would have been a classy looking cover~~~ the one now teeters on a porno shot and not one I would want for my collection :)

LOL! House!
Morning Jex and Carla. You two weren't on the blog yesterday, but did you see the tribute to Aretha Franklin Sunday night? What about the gospel tribute before that where Fantasia, Lil Mo', CoCo from SWV and another girl did a song. CoCo has blown up, and I am not talking about career wise. Fantasia has gained a lot of weight too.
|
|
Posted by: shay on January 30, 2007 8:50AM EST
puggy, I just wonder whose idea it was for her to pose with her legs wide open. Not a good idea if you want people to buy your album for their daughters.
|
|
Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 8:54AM EST
Hey shay. I peeked in a couple of times yesterday and read about Fantasia's performance. I don't kow what's gotten into her. I was never a fan of hers because of her LOUD style of singing, but it seems that she's even taken that to the extreme.
I guess you can take the girl out of the 'hood. . . .
And I can say that 'cause that's where I'm from.
|
|
Posted by: House on January 30, 2007 8:55AM EST
Shay, I will go ahead and admit...it was my idea for her to pose like she did....but I never entended for that damn zebra sweater to be there.....haha, just kidding y'all

morning all, heard kat on leno...didn't screech as badly as i expected, but i have to say i was NOT impressed...i have a long list of lady singers i enjoy listening to, and sorry, kat girl, you just ain't on the list.
jex, i think you put miss fantasia (or fantasy-a) exactly on the mark ... again, i'm sorry, but she just doesn't impress me ... the ONLY time i felt she deserved to win was the summertime number, where she (almost) lost that screechiness and SANG... however, i WILL say that from the beginning of the 12, i picked fantasia to be the winner....partly because of her i-can-do-it attitude... i don't DIS like *her* ... just her singing style
ok...i truly have to turn this off till at least lunch, so don't go writing a lot, or i'll NEVER catch up!!!
*grins*
oh, and here's your @¿@ (wide-eyed sarcasm) smiley, D
mmmmmmmmmmmmmWAH!

Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 9:06AM EST
Who is Kat's target audience? These fast lil' girls running around today have plenty of semi-sexy divas to pattern themselves after. I don't think she qualifies as someone who would top their list of "who I'd like to be".
He singing isn't outstanding, so I can't imagine too many young ladies buying her album.
And I don't think she has enough sex appeal to keep the attention of lonely young men. And House.
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 9:08AM EST
OK.......since when was selling an album using sex appeal a new thing? Kat is a lovely girl with a lovely voice. Is she anything special? Probably not! So how would you, as her handler, sell that album? I mean, she was a second placer.....an album HAS to come out. What marketing techniques would you use to make sure some sales happen? I know what I'd do. Kat is model gorgeous like Shay said(and she can also sing). I'd be sure the public knew what this girl looked like. Sex sells! Look at (in their early days) Cristina, Pink, Jessica, OMG Shakira, and the queen of 'sex sells', Britney(and she was 15 when she was started strutting.) That being said, I would blame her team for the blatant use of her sex appeal rather than having her look classy/sexy.
Those of you who haven't listened to her album, should, if only to be an educated voice in the discussion rather than an "I hate Kat, therefore she's bad' contributor. Ordinary World really shows off her voice as does Home. Over It is an anthem (just ok) for any girl who's been dumped. Open Toes is ridiculous. A couple are a little screechy.
BTW, has anyone seen the cover of Norah Jones new CD? What is it with black and white stripes?
|
|
Posted by: puggyhere on January 30, 2007 9:09AM EST
Shay, I think you are 100% correct. They eliminated some sales by going that route.
Plus what Rodney and Mike S say about the content of the CD it will probably not be as popular as Kellies or Carries.
I wonder if her older boyfriend influenced her to go the *sex Kitten* route? They could have chosen that way but done a little bit less *obvious* I should think... someone is not advising her very well IMHO.
But she certainly is a beauty.

nice shot Jex...haha
|
|
Posted by: linnykat on January 30, 2007 9:15AM EST
ok one more comment.... i think kat is quite lovely, and as has been mentioned, when she looks "classical" she is nigh on to beautiful... and when she SINGS classical, she is quite gifted... it's the attempt (and i said so all season long) to be "pop" and do the high volume-high pitch thing that so MANY of today's women do while singing that destroyed her for me... if she just lets go of that style, and sticks to what her voice is MADE for...she's quite quite good
*shrug*
and last night on leno, with the dress-the-length-of-an-oversized-man's-shirt-over-black-tights, and her arms and the mic in front of her ... pups ... at least what i saw of her, wasn't even all that particularly sexy...but then i AM a woman, so...
ok NOW i'm gone...HONEST!
|
|
Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 9:16AM EST
D, like puggy said, why couldn't Kat have had on a slinky, sexy dress or a cute little sundress walking along the beach?
Why the spread eagle pose with the parted lips?
What is she really trying to sell?
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 9:18AM EST
I think Taylor's failure to enlist NEW fans has hurt his sales. He's the kind of guy you have to get to know in order to love him. That's one of the reasons he won Idol. Chris, on the other hand, sings a generic kind of rock very well......his door to new fans has opened pretty wide. Perhaps Kat is trying to get people other than sweet little tweens to appreciate her music. Risky, but after Taylor's album came out, it's pretty clear that a risk needed to be taken.
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 9:21AM EST
And the spread-eagle pose has been a pretty generic pose for the last 2 years. I've seen everyone from pink to Julianne Moore on a magazine cover in exactly the same position!

Morning y'all. I managed to stay up for Kat last night, but fell asleep before the end of the song. Really. I haven't heard any more of the album, but is there REALLY a song on there called Not Ur Girl. Who wrote that, some 14 year old in a chat room?
|
|
Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 9:24AM EST
Dang, D. Is she your cousin or somethin'?
I just think she's trying to hard to be sexy. It's like she's forcing it. I think everyone agrees that she's a pretty girl, she doesn't need to go the route of pseudo porn is all I'm sayin.

Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 9:32AM EST
All I'm saying is that your opinion of her, before this album came out, colors your opinion of the picture. On some people it would look artistic and sensual, on Kat(who most of you don't like) it looks trashy. It is difficult for many people to see this in an objective manner. I've criticized many of her songs on the new cd today but because I say a number of positive things about her, I'm her 'cousin'.
I'll admit that I liked Kat during the season, most of you didn't, but she came in second so I can't be alone! I agree with linny that she's a lot better at the classical stuff...she's also quite good at the Broadway stuff. I think she may be testing the waters on the pop diva stuff. I wish she wouldn't, but then I'm pretty sure that the powers that be were thinking about Diana DeGarmo when they decided to have Kat go pop.

THe problem with Taylor's CD sales right now is very easy to pinpoint -- They have not released a SINGLE!!! NOTHING!
Not a single song has been released to radio stations for airplay. HOW STUPID IS THAT??????
Taylor sang "RUnaround" at the Orange Bowl, and the local Classic Rock station here has opted to put that song in its rotation, but all of the other stations are saying when people call with requests -- "we have not been given any singles to play, sorry."
BY Contrast - Kellie Pickler had "Red High Heels" out on countr stations 3 weeks before her album debuted, and already has a second single "I wonder" already out and getting airplay.
Daughtry had "It's Not Over" out a month ahead of his album release, and has "Home" ready for release as his second single.
KAT has made the same mistake as Taylor's handlers -- there is NO SINGLE out right now creating a buzz.
I can't lay the blame all on the IDOL people either -- Kellie Pickler's CD was released by 19 Productions and Clive Davis company is her management agency.
As for Kellie's second single "I WONDER" I urge everyone to give it a listen. It is written by KELLIE and is about her being abandoned by her mother. It is a real tearjerker of a song, and is really really excellent.

|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 9:44AM EST
Deirdre, I think you are probably right about Kat having some success if she were to go a more classical route. The only two songs of hers I enjoyed all season were "Black Horse" and "Rainbow" -- and even there she oversang rainbow the first time she sang it, and her floor dancing antics took away from "Black Horse".
Anyway, I have listened to a portion of each cut on the album, and contrary to your luck I did not find a single hidden gem among them. Sorry.

Posted by: shay on January 30, 2007 9:45AM EST
IMO, the spread eagle pose was way over the top. It is "NOT" going to help her record sales. She is a beautiful woman without it. True enough, the artists that are already out have done similar poses, but not in the beginning of their career. They all started with the good girl image, then went porn! I just don't think this is the real "Kat" we are looking at on this cover and whoever idea it was to pose like that got it wrong. Sex does sell, but come on, no parent in their right mind is going to buy this album for their teenage daughter or son to listen to. Same with Fantasia. If you have a song on your album called "Baby making hips", don't expect the youngins' to own a copy of it and I think some of her song choices hurt her record sales too. JMO! I think Kat will have the same result, if not less. And with Fantasia, at least this was her sophomore album. I have seen at least 100 different pics of Kat and not one was this bad. That picture is for a grown man's imagination of what's behind that one inch of material in between her legs. I think the teenagers are the ones who voted for her and put her in her #2 spot, and the rest of the votes went to Taylor. My prediction is that Pickler will do far better than she will, minus the sexy photos.
|
|
Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 9:52AM EST
Au contraire, shay. I think this IS the real Kat. I think she wants to be known for her physical appearance rather than her singing ability. JMHO.
|
|
Posted by: puggyhere on January 30, 2007 9:55AM EST
I think they should promote her sultry beauty because she is gorgeous I just think they shouldnt be so blatantly *sex kitten* in the way they do it.
She was one of my top picks last year during the contest I guess I was just a little disappointed that they chose this avenue of directling her career...I dont think it will be sucessful for her...she's more of a Big Band-type of performer.....I see her more on Broadway ...and I think eventually thats where she'll end up.
:)

|
Posted by: shay on January 30, 2007 9:56AM EST
Jex, I think she definitely wants to model, but I don't think it was her idea pose like that. And I know it wasn't daddy's idea either.

|
Posted by: Eve07 on January 30, 2007 9:57AM EST
Good morning guys,
I was not a fan of Kat's last season but the girl can sing. If Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff can sell albums then so can Kat, she should appeal to the same audience they do. I have never understood the hoopla over those two.
Shay, I saw Fantasia's performance with Lil Mo, Coko and Kiki Sheard on BET Gospel and they were all screaming. I think all of them have magnificent voices but they definitely didn't use them wisely on that collaboration. I couldn't even tell you what song they were singing because all I heard were screams. It was definitely a "hot mess"!
Mike S, I am amazed at the numbers for Carrie Underwood, is she that good? I didn't watch AI much the season she won because it was very bland so I never really heard her sing and I'm not a country music fan but she must be awesome.
As for Taylor, for some reason I don't think he wants to be a mega-star I think he'll be happier with recognition rather than mega-sales. Chris will definitely be the powerhouse from that season and he deserves to be with his "fine" self.
P.S. I also saw the Aretha Franklin special and all I can say is will someone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get her and Chaka Kahn a STYLIST.....WTF were they wearing? Ruben was also on the show and he looked very nice, another 100 lbs. and he'll be on his way.
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 9:58AM EST
Mike, Kat's single, Over It, was also released today, I believe. I agree that Taylor's cd was destroyed because they didn't release a single. They are releasing Runaround as a single....I think that's today as well.
And Shay....Britney became a pop diva at 16 doing far MORE sexy stuff than Kat. I mean, that little schoolgirl outfit with the slutty dance moves...who do you think she was trying to appeal to...at 16!
But, it's just a silly argument. If you didn't like Kat on Idol, you're not going to like her now. And we can make all sorts of assumptions about what demographic voted for her(most people think Taylor only appeals to over-40 women and we know that's not true)but we don't know if demographics had much to do with the final outcome. Then again, it's an old argument, isn't it. I've always thought Kat was talented, most of you don't agree. That's ok...I love y'all anyway. :)

|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 10:00AM EST
I think you have just hit it perfectly Puggy.
Kat should play the SULTRY TORCH SINGER ascpect. She has the look for that. DOn't be so blantly in your face "look at me" ... A nice curve hugging black dress, slit just oh so provocatively up the side -- leaning against a single pole lamp. A Silohuette in a window giving just a hint of what lies behind. THat is the sexy Kat needs to be selling.
She is out of her league trying to compete with the silcone enhanced bleach blonde bimbo brigade for photo air time.
PLay to your strengths girl. Be sultry, misterious, coy -- and sing torchy ballads.
Dam, I should be her manager.
|
|
Posted by: Jex on January 30, 2007 10:04AM EST
We love you too, D!
Eve, I agree with you about Taylor. I don't think he wants to be a Mega star. He has a real love for music and as long as someone is listening (and buying a few) he'll be happy.
I only like 2 or 3 songs from his album, but gosh darnit, if he put another one out next week, I'd get that one too!
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 10:05AM EST
Apparently you were already Frank Sinatra's manager, Mike! :) Or, the 'single pole lamp'.....was that a stripper reference?
|
|
Posted by: House on January 30, 2007 10:05AM EST
Mike S for manager!
I agree, while she is sexy as hell...she is a natural sexy, she certainly does not need to do this "hooker 'em up" sexy. There's something about her in that yellow dress she wore near the end of last season.....
|
|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 10:05AM EST
Hmmm You have me thinking now Deirdre.
Kat's album was originally supposed to be released at the same time as Taylor's, but "Production Delays" pushed it back.
I wonder if there was some sort of agreement that they would also release the singles together?
Even with that though, I don't understand waiting until the album is released. Both Pickler and Daughtry had singles out a month ahead of thier albums building momentum for release day.
I just think it was a very poor management decision by someone to hold back BOTH Kat and Taylor's singles for whatever the real reason might be.
|
|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 10:07AM EST
ROFL D!!! NO it was a reference to Frankie and to the TOrch singers of the past.. But now that you mention the stripped angle ....hmmmm
|
|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 10:09AM EST
Eva/Jex -- I am beginning to wonder the same thing. I think Taylor might be inclined to take the "Soul Patrol" and go the route of JImmy Buffett, the Dead etc etc -- never the huge mega sales single or award winning stuff, but build a steady long lasting arena filling fan base.
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 10:10AM EST
I think House is right. She already exudes 'sexy'. There's no need to go overboard. Have you noticed, those of you who look through these magazines at the checkout, that hardly a week goes by without her showing up in Us or In Touch? She is already a fan favorite in the magazines or they wouldn't be bothering with her picture.
|
|
Posted by: Mike S on January 30, 2007 10:11AM EST
TO add to my thoughts above --
I think this would be a good topic for RODNEY to research. Why the delays in singles for both artists. Why the Delays in Kat's album.
And -- in the past previous idols have talked about the fact that NO ONE is allowed to release a single or album until the Winner's have been released. YET both Kellie and Chris had a single and thier Album out ahead of Taylor this year. What gives?
|
|
Posted by: shay on January 30, 2007 10:11AM EST
They needed to wait to release Kat's album. With that picture on the front, it is definitely not a "stocking stuffer" for the kids. I could just imagine the look on my 9 year olds face if that CD was in his stocking Christmas morning. LOL!!!
And to Deirdre, I think alot of people like Kat. They just don't see anything special about her. She doesn't stand out IMO! I was a huge fan of hers in the beginning, but towards the end, I saw her as just "ordinary". Definitely not top 2 material. Chris should have been in that spot if you ask me.
|
|

Shay, I wish Katharine was in my stocking....you could imagine the look on my face Christmas morning...."Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
|
|
Posted by: Deirdre on January 30, 2007 10:17AM EST
I think it would have made a nice 'stocking stuffer' for the guys! :)
I agree that Chris should have been top 2, Shay. The trouble with last season (actually the reason it was so good) was that there were 4 or 5 people who earned(at one point or another) a top 2 position. Taylor, Kat, Elliot, Chris, Paris, all deserved that kind of recognition...not every week, but at least once or twice during the course of the show. Kat earned it as much as Chris and as much as Elliot. She made it, I still believe, because she was the only girl left standing.

Oooh shay, don’t mention that whole Chris v Kat – WTF happened debacle. I think every jaw in America dropped. Right after Chris’.

|
Posted by: shay on January 30, 2007 10:21AM EST
Dee, I do agree though that some of Kat's facial expressions make one think that she is snooty and uppity. I have always thought the same thing about Aretha Franklin. Every time they flash the camera to her, I see a person that thinks she is "supposed to be honored and bowed down to". But I have heard from several people that have met her in person or dealt with her career wise that she is a sweet person.

Shay, I actually think Kat's IQ isn't very high. I don't mean that she's an idiot or anything, I've just never heard her actually think before she opens her mouth to speak. I think what you perceived as a snooty look was just Kat trying to figure out what was going on.
And BTW, nobody's jaw dropped more than Kat's when Chris was eliminated.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that in most AI articles Ruben is never mentioned? I just read the MSN article about AI and they mentioned all of the past winners even Fantasia (although negatively) and not one word about Ruben. I can't imagine how that must make him feel. The only time these articles even comment about him is when comparing his sales to Clay Aiken's. I know his current cd fell way under the meter in sales but hey, at least mention him as a past Idol winner. J Records must still have confidence in him because he hasn't been dropped from their label. Now that I'm done venting I can move on, but after reading that article I was a little upset.

Mike, Jex was already going to hell. Guess she figured she would go down with a BANG!!

I don't have to worry about going to hell. I have it on good authority that the devil is afraid I will take over.

LMAO!! What? What better place for her to promote an album with a cover like that.
Just kidding!!
Mike if you're running things down there, I may drop by for a visit, but I ain't stayin' long! I burn too easily.

Eve, I think Ruben goes unmentioned a lot because he took that hiatus to lose weight. Kind of an out of sight out of mind kinda thing.
Now that he's back it's like, Oh yeah. . .you.

Hey Blawgpound,
That Kat CD cover is pretty tame compared to some Janet Jackson has released.....I don't see where it's a big deal. Sex or sex appeal is used to sell almost everthing these days...(Mike S, I'm just trying to play the devil's advocate here..lol..)

Eve, I think Ruben brought a lot on himself. He pretty much refused to do or sing anything that the powers that be wanted. When he first won Idol, he refused to do the album they wanted, he refused to make the appearances they wanted him to make. It's only been recently that he seems to want to get back in the picture again. It's a shame cuz he has a lovely voice.

Greetings to all... Katherine's CD...ZzzzZzzzz I just listened to it on RealRhapsody for free. All I have to say is it sounds like she wants to emulate all the other pop artists out there now. She needs to find her niche and stick with it. Taylor's CD is not doing that well because it's not that marketable right now. After hearing it, I thought it sounded very bland. Chris's CD is doing well because it is appealing to the masses. Also, it's a nice upbeat record without being too hard on the ears IMO. Of course, it all comes down to personal tastes in music when deciding on what you enjoy and don't like. For instance, some people like Country and I don't. Others don't like easy to listen to Pop of the 70's and 80's and I do.
For those who like jazz/old classics, I found a really good singer you might like to listen to if you get a chance. Her name is Renee Olstead on a self-titled debut. I really like the tone and control she has with her voice.
Really looking forward to tonight and the B'ham auditions.

D,
Count me in as one that doesn't care for Ruben....he just ain't that good IMO. When your best song is a cover of a cover song........

But Superstar IS terrific, RC. I get all mellow and quiet every time I hear it...Now y'all will try to get it playing on the blog to shut me up...:)

D,
Yeah it's nice but the guy IMO has not too much creativity....even the Pickle wrote a song.....I made the mistake of buying his horrible CD.....some of the most unimaginative stuff I've heard in a while. And besides, I'd rather hear Luther sing it anytime.

I would expect no less than this trashy cd cover from Kat. They gotta go with sex sells, because the voice and song choice won't sell a thing! I heard "Love Story" yesterday and it is that god-awful bubblegum pop that I knew she would gravitate to.
Awesome for Carrie to still be enjoying such great success from that cd. Its a good one! Poor Tay, his cd has not been marketed bery well. And it is such a great cd too. There are several songs that would make a good single. Hope they get one out for him soon.

Mystique - Deirdre was saying that "Runaround" was finally released as a single today.
All I can figure is that there was some type of deal not to release any singles from Taylor's album until Kat's was ready to release too. Wierd strategy if you ask me.

Oh, good! "Runaround" is a good choice. Hope its not too little too late to drive album sales. Oh well, Tay still has his fan base so he will do fine. Thanks!

Well, I was never a Kat phan to begin with!! And it was only after Chris and Elliott were eliminated that I finally sang the swan song for Taylor. Had to pick someone to win and Tay-Tay was the lesser of two evils. I only hope tonight we'll see this year's winner. From what I've seen so far? Yukity, yukity, yuk!!! Except for maybe the two American-Asian-Indian siblings. They were different...not R&B, not rock and certainly not country. BTW, how all my old friends be doin? (Just raggin on our Paris memory! :-)

Hi Sexy Jexy! Gurl, I been not working. And LOVIN it!!! Remember I was laid off last summer from AVON and so I had a four month severance PLUS six months unemployment (ending end of March - boo-hoo). I mostly blogged at work because I was soooooo bored!!! I hate desks and computers! LOL!!! So I pop in when I can to visit my cyber family. That's way cool...cyber-family!! :-)

Deidre, I didn't know Ruben had a little Diva-tude when he won Idol, I thought he put out the type of album they asked him too.
Jex, you're right he did take time off for the weight thing but I thought he would come out stronger having done that but apparently not. He is a good singer so I hope he's around for awhile but he'll have to either have a drastic weight loss or major scandal to boost him back to the spotlight now.

Linny-Kat!!! Hey my friend!! You know that ho' of a femaile cat I have had TWO more babies last summer...bringing a total of EIGHT cats that I own! I finally had the girl fixed! :-) I have 9 children....8 of the four legged and one two legged! I saw a previous blog where you no longer commute. Heavenly isn't it!!! A commute will dictate where I work any day over the week to a big fat salary. The nerves can't handle bottle-necking!
