12/16: Fantasia "Purple" no shows, Kat with the prez
By: Rodney Ho | December 15, 2007, 5:27PM EST
Uh oh. Fantasia, who was getting big praise for her performances of “The Color Purple,” has missed 50 performances since April, an average of more than one a week. She is technically obligated to do eight performances a week.
According to The New York Post,, Fantasia’s out a lot because she’s simply not up to the grueling Broadway schedule.
Well, she is done next month. I wonder what her next step will be?
Here’s Kat McPhee with Atlanta’s Ne-Yo and Vanessa Hudgens entertaining the prez at the Christmas in Washington special aired on TNT last week. Has Pres. Bush ever said he watched “Idol”? Would he even know who Kat McPhee is?
First, it’s the opener, where she sings a bit of “This Christmas.” As always, Kat looks great!
And here’s the closer where she sings “O Come Ye Faithful.” She actually sings this one pretty well but dials back from hitting the BIG note at the end for whatever reason. Pres. Bush looks impressed!
Meanwhile, if you are between ages 10 and 15, “Idol Camp” is back next summer, this time in San Bernardino instead of Massachusetts. Details to apply are here.
And “Gone Country,” the CMT show which features non-country acts trying to be country (including Diana DeGarmo) debuts January 25 at 8 p.m.
Plus, Jordin Sparks is due to sing the National Anthem for next month’s Super Bowl.

Rodney, harking back to your other posting, re NGAB, you're right in that 6Wire should win the whole shebang, but i love DMHO and the Clark Bros, so while i did vote multiple times for 6Wire, i wouldn't be heartbroken if any of the 3 win. I think the criticism of DMHO not being able to do an album is wrong... we are seeing abbreviated performances of songs that would be much fuller and much more comprehensive when performed in full, and i think they COULD put out an album that would sell well enough... and it's a little hard to criticize a band for performing songs that they were TOLD to perform....at least imho they did it well... i do agree that the "this little light" choice was surprising in light of the competitive nature of the final 3, but it's their core, so in that respect, maybe NOT so surprising. I DO believe 6wire would not only sell albums but sell out concerts as well, and thus should be the winner....they're tight and talented, without a doubt.
i won't see you guys much monday, have to drive to cochran to pickup the college lad and bring him home for the holidays.... y'all behave, now hear??

Morning bloggers! It's getting to be crunch time which shortens my ability to chat with y'all. I'll be popping in between now and Christmas but not often. Lot's of planning and preparation, especially with hubby having to work some of Christmas day.
I'm still thinking DMHO could pull off a surprise win on Greatest American Band although I'm rooting for Sixwire!
I agree WE. I am having a hard time staying awake also.

Hey all....wow, quiet day here on the blog. Did y'all fall asleep?
Bed sounds great right about now...less than a month til Idol, I believe. Thank goodness...
I just read that Leno and Conan are coming back on the air (without writers). It'll be interesting to see that train wreck.

Anyone else find it a little odd that Flats and Linny are both missing on the same day? I'm not suggesting anything but stranger things have happened. LOL

Very funny, War Eagle!!!!! But yeah...it is kinda suspicious.

Any change on this site won't happen til early next year, which is good cos we're probably experiencing the deadest traffic period of the year for the blog.
