10/31: Carrie Underwood's huge first week sales
By: Rodney Ho | October 31, 2007, 9:24AM EST

Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride” sold even more than first-day estimates of about 425K and 450K. She ended up selling about 537,000 copies, according to hitsdailydouble.com. The Nielsen SoundScan numbers will be out later today but they usually are pretty close. That’s far bigger than her first CD, which sold about 315K two years ago. She has been on a major promo push, showing up on several talk shows and doing the National Anthem for game three of the World Series. And it doesn’t hurt that her first CD is nearing 6 million in sales and her current single “So Small” is in the top 5 on the country charts.

Mandisa also is selling a Christmas EP, available for download today and in stores November 20. It’s called “Christmas Joy EP.”

And Jordan’s cover for her first CD out November 20 looks like this:

jordin_album.jpg

She looks good, eh?

And according to mjsbigblog,, popmeister David Foster (Celine Dion, the Bee Gees, Barbra Streisand, Michael Buble) told an audience at Lincoln Center he is producing Kat McPhee’s next CD.

Hello???

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 8:49AM EST
Morning Carla!

Jordin looks beautiful!

Congrats to Carrie!

The people over at MJ's must be throwing fits...they hate Kat! Oh, wait a minute...so does everybody here, except me!

Off to car pool - has to be there early today - then bowling, then book fair - everyone have a great day. I know you'll miss my IT and atty. briefs, but you will make it through the day. ;-)

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 8:56AM EST
Jordin is a spokesmodel for Lane Bryant or one of those plus size stores. I can't remember which one. Anyway, she looks great.

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 8:57AM EST
Good Morning Everyone!

And Good for Carrie. I'm really happy for her success. Eventhough I'm not a huge country music fan.

What music genre is Jordin's music. I can't see her as R&B or Rock. Not even Pop. Soft Rock?

Posted by: Carla on October 31, 2007 8:58AM EST
There you people are. I thought I was going to have to send the GSP out to find you.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 8:58AM EST
Carla, where have you been? You came back Sunday not last night. Did your friend visit you over the weekend or did she postpone her trip?

Posted by: kellyfan on October 31, 2007 9:00AM EST
LOL....

Morning again. Carrie's my second favorite Idol (after Kelly, of course). Great to see her doing so well...

Kat? Eh, she's alright. I guess I just never felt a connection to her when she performed.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 9:01AM EST
Jex, she should do country music. Change Soulja Boy into country and do a remix. That's where the money is! R&B ain't sellin'.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 9:04AM EST
HAPPY HALLOWEEN JEX!!

Don't be pushing the kids tonight trying to get all the candy you hear. Share this time. I don't have bail money to be getting you out for theft by taking.

Posted by: linnykat on October 31, 2007 9:06AM EST
mornin' gang.

busy as a bee today, so i'll stop by when i can.

i know nana's gone, but.... *whew*!!! re Cameron, but oh boy was i surprised when sabrina was voted out! saw her briefly on Kimmel... he hit the nail on the head, trying to be funny -- everyone assumed sabrina would always be safe so voted for others... happens every time!

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:11AM EST
We live it every week when Idol is on, linny! The really good ones get messed with because everybody thinks they're safe! I still think that Jordin ended up in the finals cuz people assumed Melinda would be there and voted for Jordin to keep Blake out. I happened to like all 3 of them, so I was lucky!

Posted by: RC on October 31, 2007 9:13AM EST
dayum...that Jordin is most def. !hot!....even for an ol man like me!!

Shaun,
I think I'll let ya have Mariah...I'm gonna train up some tenderoni.......

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 9:16AM EST
Morning All!

Happy Halloween!!!!!Good for Carrie (I'm not surprised) and Jordin looks good. But...WTH? What dayum dumb arse mofo decided Jordin should be a plus size model? Who comes up w/that shizz? Anybody else give a rats azz?

Posted by: Carla on October 31, 2007 9:19AM EST
She postponed shay. I decided to take a couple of days off to chill.

Posted by: Eve07 on October 31, 2007 9:19AM EST
Good morning!

Jordin looks good and country music fans apparently LOVE Carrie, she mos def doesn't have the sophomore jinx.

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 9:22AM EST
Kimmy, Jordin is a "healthy" girl. She's tall and very pretty. Why shouldn't she be a model. And "regular" models are smaller than her left arm, so she would definitely be classified as plus size. I think it's pretty cool.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:22AM EST
Kelly better watch her back...Carrie is coming up fast behind her and may have already passed her!

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 9:23AM EST
You don't get to decide when you take a break Carla. You have to get permission from the blog. I'm docking your pay. That Christmas bonus won't be as much as it was last year.

Linny, subtract $1800 from Carla's bonus.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 9:24AM EST
I think I read that Jordin is a size 12. That means all of us would look fat on t.v. :-)

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 9:25AM EST
No, no...I was trying to say thru all my blog curse words that who said she's "plus" size? I think she is normal and pretty, tall yes, but normal. I'm sick of the bobbleheaded ugly arse looking models too, my point got lost in the bad words, sorry;-)

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 31, 2007 9:26AM EST
Most would say Jordin has big bones. ;-)....

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:33AM EST
kimmy....are you makin' fun a me????? :-)

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:36AM EST
I think Jordin is very pretty. Unfortunately, her body does not conform to the stick-like demands of the current fads. How many of you know anyone, personally, whose body DOES conform?

OK, Jex....maybe you...don't get all huffy!!!!

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 9:36AM EST
Me? Never!!:-)

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 9:47AM EST
Hello??????

Posted by: mynana on October 31, 2007 9:47AM EST
Okay, senior moment, forgot my drink for bowling - guy behind counter at bowling alley sneezes in hand and then gets water in pitcher - nope - so stop in on the way. Kimmy, I was sweating out my Cameron. Jordin is very pretty. Hum, Marilyn Monroe was a size 12, makes her a plus model?

Catch later.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:52AM EST
Sorry..I was getting ready for my 3 hour shift with my friend. I was visiting her yesterday(rather than being there 'on duty') and she was looking pretty good!

Talk to y'all later!

Posted by: Deirdre on October 31, 2007 9:52AM EST
Shay...I hope the little one is better!

Posted by: kellyfan on October 31, 2007 9:54AM EST

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:05AM EST
Jordin is fat, but cute. she needed to be in the gym while recording. I think she is Pop, Jex. Imagine she went Country????????

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:05AM EST
anyone dressed up for Halloween at work today????

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:06AM EST
I came dressed as a broke arse employee. Does that count?

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 31, 2007 10:07AM EST
I wore all black. I was told I look good in it. ;-)

Posted by: linnykat on October 31, 2007 10:10AM EST
I don't see Jordin as "fat" Shaun, just "healthy"....those models and the skanks that are in the news, like britmess and j-ho and all, they're just anorexic or stupid or something, every man i ever knew said that was ok to look at but they wanted a little padding for the *real* thang!!!

i'm actually looking forward to what Jordin has to offer re music; it should be interesting. and i am so proud of carrie i could burst! bo was my man, but she was my call to win the whole shebang.

ok back to work boss just returned....see ya!

Posted by: kellyfan on October 31, 2007 10:11AM EST
Kimmy, i changed...I'm Perez Hilton.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:11AM EST
LMAO @ Shay!!!! that's what I am everyday.

Shaun!!!!She is NOT fat. You just trying to get something started today or what????

Posted by: Carla on October 31, 2007 10:13AM EST
Whatever shay! Don't hate. We actually have the same thing on today. I thought my idea was original. Dang it!

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:14AM EST
I never considered J-Lo a skank. She carries herself decent. Britt is another story.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:15AM EST
I said she was cute....... Doesnt that count? she is not obese. yall act like i said she was on the email Kimmy sent, (btw kimmy, Hilarious) she just needed t tone up, or like Lk said, she is just healthy. And dont get it twisted, i live me some meat on my womens. Dont no body want a bone, except for....well nev mind.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:16AM EST
J Ho, is a skank in reform.

Posted by: linnykat on October 31, 2007 10:16AM EST
ok maybe not J-Lo...sorry.... i was trying to think fast and skinny....

but you know what i mean..... [apologies to J in case anyone was offended]

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:17AM EST
Yeah and J-Lo got a booty too so she's not that skinny and I love her style too. Britney, Paris, Lindsay, Nicole etc....those are the skanks to me.

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 10:17AM EST
I came dressed as this really cute chick who walks around and everybody loves her 'cause she's so cute and witty. I can't think of her name right now. . .

uh. . .oh yeah - Jexica the Majestic.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:18AM EST
Jex, why would you dress as Shay?

Posted by: linnykat on October 31, 2007 10:18AM EST
i have on my orange sweater and my black and beige and orange jacket.... and my hair is dry as a bone and sorta frizzed.... i THINK i might count as a scarecrow!!!! (or would that be scarecrone ??

LOL @ LinnyK!!

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:20AM EST
Kimmy, last year I came as a broke down employee. I got myself together so this year I am just broke.

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 31, 2007 10:21AM EST
LOL @ Linny...

I came as a GQ model. Oh yeah, that was in my dreams!! ;-)

Posted by: linnykat on October 31, 2007 10:22AM EST
i think i could also fit into the shay-carla-kimmy genre as well.... 'specially after i take today's paycheck and go give it to everyone ELSE.

Good news DAWGS fans...Hot of the AJC wire...

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Jackson becomes the 22nd player in the class of 2008 to say yes to the Bulldogs. Georgia's class went into Wednesday trailing only Notre Dame in Rivals.com's team rankings. Georgia was No. 3 in Scout.com's rankings, behind Notre Dame and UCLA.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:25AM EST
What are everyone's plans tonight?

I was invited to a private halloween party at a country club for the kids.

BO-RING

My baby don't know nothing about no bobbing for apples and walking around telling ghostly stories. We usually go the mall, trick or treat in the stores, and then go to the food court and everyone orders different stuff and we share it all. Then we go home about 8:00 and watch "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" while I turn off the lights on the porch so no one comes a knockin' for candy.

I'm just sayin.

Posted by: kellyfan on October 31, 2007 10:29AM EST
Kimmy, i didn't find a pink one last minute...I'm old Perez (Beached blonde)....we have Kanye, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson, Britney, David & Posh.

My co-workers were just rehearsing the Souljaboy for the team festivities....I prefer My Drink N My 2 Step or Cupid's Shuffle! ;)

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:29AM EST
Hubby & I are taking our daughter trick-or-treating and since I live in Egypt we have to drive around from house to house since everyone lives so far apart. My boys are staying home dressing up all scary and will give out the candy to kids and jump out and scare the hell outta er'body.

then I send them all to bed and me and hubby go thru their candy and pick out the good stuff for us.

Posted by: Eve07 on October 31, 2007 10:30AM EST
I came as a Desperate Housewife.......the tired, broke one who didn't make the show.

Posted by: kellyfan on October 31, 2007 10:30AM EST
Hey code guy/gal! Don't be hatin' the shuffle....my last code was "euw"

Good morning!!

Kimmy, Here I is!!! LOL

I had to go through 30+ emails in my inbox this morning, which took up my time! wink, wink Plus I got into the office later than usual thanks to me getting up several times during the night...slow start & sluggish today.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:33AM EST
Kimmy, I do that too! I always take all the laffy taffies, bubble gum, and chewy stuff. I leave the chocolate, butter scotch, peppermint, and those nasty orange corn things.

Old people, why do y'all buy peppermint, those round red cinnamon candies, and those nasty suckers that taste like they were dipped in Bayer Aspirin. NO ONE EAT THOSE!!! Are they like 100 pieces for a dime or something.

I'm just askin'.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 31, 2007 10:35AM EST
I came dressed as the sexy, Chocl8t, brown-haired bombshell....which happens to be my daily MO.

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 10:36AM EST
LOL kimmy! We're going to dress up at the house and scare kids when we give out the candy. I dress in all black with a black hoody covering my head and a black mask on my face so you can't see anything. I start giving out candy, then my sweetie comes form behind with this ghoulie mask, jumps out and scares the little childrens. TOO cute and funny.

Last year this one little kid was maybe about 3 or four with his little bitty football uniform on. When the ghoulie came out from behind me, the little one ran in place for about 5 minutes, then literally climbed up his daddy's leg. It was like they do on cartoons when they're running, but not going anywhere, then ZOOM! Cutest and funniest thing!

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:36AM EST
LMAO @ Shay!!

So true!! and what is that crap in the black and orange wrappers that tastes like ear wax? don't buy that shizz either!!!

I pick out all the kit-kats, twix and snickers...they can have the rest...

Hey Choc!!!Good Morning!!!

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:37AM EST

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:40AM EST
Kimmy, those candies are supposed to be peanut butter candies. I don't know where in the hell old folks get their candy because stores by us don't sell those. They taste horrible. I think the peppermint is the killer. No one wants peppermint on halloween:-(

Lady gave my baby a can good one time. Dumb arse old lady. WTH is he supposed to do with beets at age 2.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:41AM EST
work calling, i am out.

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 10:41AM EST
shay, you answered you own question - 100 pieces for a dime or something.

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 31, 2007 10:42AM EST
We don't get kids around here. My nephews will stop by to show off their costumes and get some treats, then I will be dressed as a guy watching "Pushing Daisies." Then I will change into my second costume - a guy curled up in bed.

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:43AM EST
Jex, I know some people are on fixed budgets, but those have got to be the nastiest candies I have ever eaten. They sure as hell ain't made from Dixie Crystal.

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 31, 2007 10:44AM EST
Kimmy...
I am with you on the black and orange wrapper candy...That is just nasty stuff. Don't even get me started on the suckers. WTF..You could not afford some good old chocolate candy like Snickers, Butterfingers, Reeses, Mounds, are Kit Kats?

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:45AM EST
One lady in my neighborhood gives out candy apples but "I don't know huh eitha" so I usually toss them in the trash.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:46AM EST

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:50AM EST
And Deirdre, I don't want to hear a story about "its the thought that counts". The hell it is! You better think before you give my baby a canned good the next time because I might put that shiz right in your mailbox and a note when you get up the next morning.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:51AM EST
was he more upset at getting the beets or at the fact that when she tossed it in his bag it broke all the good candy?

still LMAO!

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:52AM EST
He didn't know what beets were. He just knew he didnt' get any candy from her. He just had a stare on his face. Then she patted him on the head. I started to trip her arse up as she turned around to close the door.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 31, 2007 10:52AM EST
Beets? WTH? LMAO!! At least it wasn't a block of gov't cheese!

LMAO @ "I don't know huh eitha"!!!

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:53AM EST
we did a dry run of the costume and my wife even gave him the little El debarge Twirl on the front just like Superman had.
i was coming out of daycare and another parent asked me when he was gonna be and i told her superman, and HER son is about 4 and he yelled out, SUPERMAN OOOOOHHHH, and she said, he loves that song by soulja boy, and I asked her if she knew the meaning behind it (thanks Jex, still hilarious) she said no, and I told her she almost fainted! She said, i thought that was a fun song.......

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 31, 2007 10:54AM EST
In our old neighborhood this lady up the street used to give out religious tracts and tell the kids that Halloween was devil worship. I heard one kid tell her to STFU one night. Heh.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 10:55AM EST
LOL @ Yo!!!

Posted by: Jex on October 31, 2007 10:55AM EST

LOL @ Choc!!!

gov't cheese!!!that stuff ain't nothing but generic velveeta...

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 10:58AM EST
Yes, Jex, she patted him on the head like she had done something. Beyoatch you had the whole year to buy candy and you gave him beets talking about you couldnt' let him leave with nothing.

Puleeze let him leave with nothing. In fact, turn your dayum porch light off if you don't have candy. Candy only! Not canned goods.

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 31, 2007 10:58AM EST
She was Baptist Shaun. Her 2 sons grew up to be some wild-ass party boys.

Posted by: Mitch on October 31, 2007 11:00AM EST
Hey all!! hit and run here. After 3 years of an apartment in Texas with no trick or treaters (and being stuck with all the treats after) we decided since we are on the back side of the second floor, we bought very little candy. I have the "NO CANDY" sign made to go on the door once it is gone.

Did any of you watch "The Unit" last night? Mikhala Gordon guest stared on there last and I have to say she is a great actress. I couldn't stand her singing on AI.

Posted by: on October 31, 2007 11:00AM EST
LOL @ Shay! She probably was lonely except for her 34 cats and enjoyed seeing the kids...next year she might bag up the cat food in ziplocs and hand that out. I wouldn't go there anymore...

Posted by: shay on October 31, 2007 11:02AM EST
Kimmy, trust me, she won't be greeted with my presence anymore.

Hey Mitch!
