10/24: Misc. stuff today
By: Rodney Ho | October 24, 2007, 1:20AM EST

I don’t have much today so far. Carrie Underwood reviews were mostly positive from what I could ascertain. We’ll see some sales estimates later today. “So Small” jumps to the top 5 on the country charts. The only other big “Idol” hit at the moment is Daughtry’s “Over You” at No. 7 on the top 40 chart.

Meanwhile, here are some shots I took from the “So You Think You Can Dance” tour Monday night. I took a couple of shots with flash before the guard told me not to. So I have mostly blurry shots off my not-so-great camera, from about 30 to 50 feet away depending on where the dancers were.

Above: Sara is cute, even wearing that unflattering “So You Think You Can Dance” jacket.

Good morning!!

Good morning Choc. I added my comment, since I was working and taking grandson to doctor, to the end yesterday, if you wanted to check it out. Interesting day.

My Cameron on DWTS is safe! Yea.

Good Morning Coch and Nana. I read your post Nana and I agree 100%. that rant yesterday just came out of nowhere, it was like a black guy beat him out of a job or something. It was mos def personal with him! But hey, I am not gonna wallow in it, I am blessed, i have a great job, and beautiful wife and a healthy, very cute kid. I have a nice house, and I pay my taxes. I can only be accoutable for myself and family. Misery loves company.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 7:57AM EST
Morning pound. Shaun, I agree with you. House just seemed to kinda 'lose it' yesterday.

RC, we WILL miss you!

Hope everyone had a good and 'blood pressure reducing' evening!

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 7:58AM EST

I'll miss y'all too....I fond of my Blawgpound friends. Sometimes this place is almost like the barbershop/beauty salon.

RC

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:02AM EST
the way I type, if I let my fingers do the walking, I'd end up in BF, Egypt.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:03AM EST
I never thought about it that way, RC but you're right. barbershop/beauty salon/neighborhood bar. A good place for people to gather and chat! In cyber country.

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:03AM EST
Sounds like House might need a vacation too, plus a 3-day drunk.

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 8:05AM EST
Morning D and RC, I wont be on much today, they got us training on a new system. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Thanks for the hug Nana, you are a very sweet lady, you too Deirdre.

Mornin Shaun!

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:09AM EST
We've just all got to remember that there are lots of differences here, and to use good judgment before we give comments. I was offended by what was said yesterday too. Always remember, if you would be offended by what you are saying, then it's best not to say it!

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 8:09AM EST
RC...oatmeal raisin w/ cinnamon always works!! ( :

Mernin e'rbody! Nana I read your post and I agree. Like Shaun, I'm not going to dwell in it. Life is too short to walk around angry. ( :

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:12AM EST
Yeah D, The Irish have got it right....meet at the pub and iron out your differences of opinion.....but it's probably a good thing we can't lay hands on each other in here!

;)

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:14AM EST
10-4 Nana...good policy...guess e'rbody goes off sometime...

CHOC!
I thought you might be lookin for a macadamia :(

I'll see what I can do......

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:14AM EST
Agree Choc, I so agree.

Now, the City of Dallas will be happy that Cuban is not on DWTS. They've had people wanting him to stop so he can concentrate on basketball. For some strange reason the way Koby here. I personally don't think we need him. Thoughts?

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:17AM EST
Nana,

you need to ask Shaun about Kobe.... :)

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 8:18AM EST
Has Dallas ever won an NBA championship?

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 8:19AM EST
Nana, I think Kobe is a great player and would be a great asset to any team with his contributions on the court. HOWEVER, I think he is a whiny-arse beoyatch of a man who may bring stife and stress to the front office and in the locker room. Holy conundrum Batman!! LOL

Posted by: Carla on October 24, 2007 8:22AM EST
Morning! Well I'm a big Kobe fan and I want him to win another championship. Will that happen in LA? Not with the current players. But if he were to go to Dallas and they didn't give up too much for him, they could def win the championship.

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:24AM EST
Kobe is good, but I know Dirk would be safe, but they are talking about us losing Howard, Terry, Diop and someone else I can't think of right now. I'm just not sure he's a team player. And no, we didn't win an NBA, that was the year the questionable ref called the games that we lost - you know the one that bet on the games he worked??

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 8:27AM EST
Nana, I read your post and agreed 100%. You are a sweety.

Morning to everyone. Hopefully we can blog in peace today and hit on some good topics. Carla, I am a big Kobe fan too!! Especially that smile :0)

Oh, you were talking about his playing skills!! My bad.

Posted by: Carla on October 24, 2007 8:28AM EST
I think he's a team player, but when your team isn't performing sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. Jordan did it, Lebron does it. When you don't have a supporting cast that's one of the downfalls. I think Dallas could lose Howard and Terry and be alright. But not another role player.

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 8:30AM EST
Good Morning Everyone!

RC, I wasn't first, but can I have a cookie? Milk chocolate chip with nuts would be loverly.

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 8:32AM EST
Jex, you just work on my Christmas candle. I like that sweet cinnamon smell. The big candles..... please and thank you!!

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 8:34AM EST
Oh, and I will be on sporadically today. I have to finish up a political science project on The Death Penalty: Should We Abolish It?

WTH? I have to do a fifth grade project because the 10 year old does not even know what the death penalty is. SMDH.

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 8:35AM EST
Scoot doot doodly doot doot doo doo doo.
Can't get that tune out of my head this morning.
Morning y'all.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:36AM EST
The editors of Vanity Fair have picked Purple Rain as the best film soundtrack. I guess movies that were previously Broadway shows aren't counted.

I pick Saturday Night Fever! How about y'all?

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:38AM EST
Shay...when you start doing school projects for your kids, the worst part is when the teacher gives you a crappy grade! :-)

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 8:41AM EST
shay - who is Sporadically and why are you on him? That's a pretty name...Imma name my first baby Sporadically...

D, i say Grease.
"Tell me more, tell me more"

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 8:42AM EST
D, I'm inclined to agree with that. I love some SNF.

How deep IS your love, doggone it!?!

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:42AM EST
If we're going to go with previous broadway shows, I have to say Phantom of the Opera.

Can I have a snicker doodle, even though I'm never first? I like the ones at Paradise Bakery.

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 8:43AM EST
LMAO!! Yo, what did you put in your coffee this moring.

And what is that little diddy you can't get out of your head? (And don't say P.)

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 8:43AM EST
Oh, and by the way- We aint giving kobe up to none of yall! He willbe a Laker till he retires and comes back! I cant even see him in another uniform. We will win a championship in 2-3 years. Bet on it! Dr. Buss will make it happen.

I'm a huge Prince fan so I love, love, love Purple Rain! But I also love SNF!

Nite fever, nite fevah...

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:46AM EST

NBA BASKETBALL...LOL!!!!!!!RATINGS ARE AT A ALL TIME HIGH!!!!LOL!!!

George Lucas was on GMA....he's gotten..."pudgy".

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 8:47AM EST
D, I won first place last year in the Science Fair. I was happy. If I don't get an A on this paper, I am going to be pissed. I have been at the library for a month straight on the weekends and reading all kinds of books on the death penalty. I made him read too, but he is still confused. He has to present this project next Friday, so he better get it together.

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:47AM EST
Shaun, I'm not sure. Rumors are he will be here or in Chicago. We'll have to see.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:48AM EST
Grease is a Broadway musical...doesn't count...I love it too though!

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 8:49AM EST
Don't know if it counts, but I love the soundtrack from "A River Runs Through It." It is one of my favorite relaxation CDs.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 8:50AM EST
Anne Geddes is on GMA now with those BEAUTIFUL baby pictures!!!

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 8:51AM EST
choc are you home or do you have a TV at your desk???? lol

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:51AM EST
LOL, shay!! Congrats on the Science Fair win!.

The thing about SNF is that every song makes me want to dance....course, that's what the movie was all about but...just saying!

Broadway shows don't count...gotta pick something written for a movie.

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 8:53AM EST
LOL...Shaun, I'm working from home today. I'm sitting in the bed watching GMA. When it goes off, the TV will be on mute so I can get some work done.

heh heh

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 8:54AM EST
Waiting to Exhale was a great soundtrack, produced by babyface. It had whitney, Chaka, Aretha, CC winans, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Faith.....

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:54AM EST
YoD me, too. Just the title A River Runs Through It makes me relax.

Most romantic soundtrack: ...Somewhere in Time

Most relaxing music : Out of Africa

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:55AM EST
Well, I like the sound track from Good Morning Vietnam. All the oldies but goodies.

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 8:55AM EST
"All That Jazz" has some great music and is one of my favorite movies.

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 8:55AM EST
In the bed working? You are getting paid to sit in the bed. Some people are livin' the life.

I have to go now, I have to watch the Young and the Restless and Guiding Light on my PC from 9:00 - 11:00 before I go to lunch
:-)

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:56AM EST
I also loved the theme from Jurassic Park...right up until Tanya Harding decided to skate to it!

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 8:57AM EST
Shay, what about All My Children? You'll see my Cameron in action!!!! It may even be one of those scenes where he's shirtless. Yes!

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 8:59AM EST
Chaka has a new album coming out...and she's off the narcotic.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 8:59AM EST
I LOVE All That Jazz!

I really like the soundtrack from The Graduate as well...and American Graffiti.

shay.....I think Rafe and Daisy are the 2 most boring people they have EVER had on a soap!

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:02AM EST
mynana, once you go Y&R and Guilding Light, you can't change to another station. I have been hooked on those since age 5.

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 9:02AM EST
The Sound of Music. Was that Broadway?

Do. A deer. A female deer.

Re. A drop of golden sun.

Mi. A name a call myself.

La. I know to follow some. . . .

so I don't commit a crime and receive the death penalty that shay is doing research on 'cause right now things are getting out of control and you may go to death row for bumping into someone at Walmart who's riding on a scooter because she's too fat to walk down the twinkie aisle, but yet complains about not being able to lose and thinks she needs to go on the Dr. Phil shoooooooowwww. . . . .

inhaaaaaaaaaaaale

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:03AM EST
thank God chaka is off that stuff. too much talent wasted......

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 9:04AM EST
Shay, I get paid to produce documentation. Soooo, whether from the sofa, the dining room table, the bed, the desk at the office...if I meet my deliverables...no problem!! ( ; I am truly living a blessed life.

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:04AM EST
Shay, what 5 yr old watches soaps?????

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 9:04AM EST
I understand. I've watch AMC since 1970 when it began. I remember watching with my Mom. I have Soap Net so I can watch it at night - first run. In Big D, they have it on tape delay for the news at 12:00 here, so if I watch it here, it's a day late. I hate that.

Posted by: linnykat on October 24, 2007 9:05AM EST
going back to smiles.... i absolutely MELT when i see Tiki and/or Ronde Barber smile.... i think those twins are FIIIIIINE!!! *ahem ahem* (ducking as she says...."even if i can't tell them apart!")

ok.... sip some cool water.... calm down, Linny...

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:05AM EST
LOL at D! What happened to Reva? She always kept her weight up, but now she just don't care. She is looking big these days.

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:06AM EST
nana, my grandmother went to high school with Pheobe Tyler-Wallingford.

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:07AM EST
Linny, I received your postage last night, thank you so much!

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:08AM EST
I've heard rumors that they're going to put Reva on some diet program as part of the show. I think Kim Zimmer is encouraging this since she hasn't been able to lose weight any other way!

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:08AM EST
Shaun, I was a "special" child. :-)

Posted by: Carla on October 24, 2007 9:08AM EST
I only watch Days of Our Lives and they had the nerve to kill John Black off the show last week. What is this world coming to????

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 9:08AM EST
It's hoppin in here....

Jex, no prob on the cookie, you deserve one....you like 'em soft n' chewy or hard n' crispy?

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 24, 2007 9:09AM EST
Morning all...
My favorite soundtrack of all time is probably Grease...
I can't tell you how much I played that double album. SNF is a close second.

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 9:09AM EST
Shay,

You ride the little bus?

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:10AM EST
Shaun,,,did your gram go to Central High in St Joseph, MO????

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:10AM EST
Deirdre, that would be a good idea. They did the same thing with Lilly on As The World Turns. Has she lost weight??

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:10AM EST
RC, she likes em hard and crispy. lol

Posted by: 1CHOCL8T on October 24, 2007 9:10AM EST
I can't watch the soaps anymore but I used to be addicted to Y&TR big time!!

Posted by: linnykat on October 24, 2007 9:10AM EST
Enjoy Shaun... the poems are pretty diverse, so hopefully you will find something in there to like :-)... i admit i'm pretty prejudiced about his talent,LOL

Posted by: mynana on October 24, 2007 9:11AM EST
Okay, getting ready for car pool. And yea! Bowling Day. All I ask every Wednesday is to get my average. That's all I ask.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:11AM EST
Carla, you know as well as I do that dead doesn't mean 'dead' in a soap. Give it a year...he'll be back, in one form or another!

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:11AM EST
No she went to Southwest High school in Kansas City. She told me Pheobe went there too. Was she justing me?

Posted by: Luvstoread on October 24, 2007 9:12AM EST
Carla,

If I watched a soap, it would be Days. The story lines just last too long. I must admit I sort of got addicted to Sunset Beach when it was on too. ;-)

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:13AM EST
Not that special Ara!! I mean special as in I wasn't the average kid. I watched tv instead of going outside in 100 degree heat. My older sister watched soaps so I snuggled under her arms and watched too.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:14AM EST
I think Phoebe may have gone to the one for awhile then moved and went to the other. I went to Central for a year and a half. Read much later that Ruth Warrick had been a student there...at the time, she was famous for being in Citizen Kane.

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 9:16AM EST
Shut up Shaun! I actually like them soft. The hard was make me gag.

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:17AM EST
Do you know how much more fun it was to watch Victor and Nikki kiss than go outside and fan bugs all day?

Posted by: Eve07 on October 24, 2007 9:17AM EST
Good Morning!

Carla are you serious, they killed John Black on Days? He was my fav character on that show, but as D said he'll be back. Stephano has died a trillion times already. Was the big secret ever revealed?

Posted by: House on October 24, 2007 9:19AM EST
I'm sorry about yesterday..i'm ashamed of what i said.Sorry guys!

Posted by: YoDaddy on October 24, 2007 9:19AM EST
Wasn't John Black Roman at one point and wasn't he killed before? I used to watch Days many years ago. A lot of the same people are still on there.

Posted by: Jex on October 24, 2007 9:20AM EST
WTH?

Posted by: on October 24, 2007 9:20AM EST
D, I will google her, but we know for sure she lived in the state of missouri though. lol

Posted by: Eve07 on October 24, 2007 9:21AM EST
Yep yo he was Roman. Days has the longest running storylines of any soap. I can not watch for a year and still catch up.

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:23AM EST
YoD...Roman is now played by the guy who used to be Chris Kositchek. John Black thought he was Roman then the real Roman (looking for all the world just like Chris Kostichek) came back from the dead so John Black went back to being John Black but Marlena loved him anyway even though he wasn't Roman and that probably had something to do with Roman looking exactly like Chris Kostichek! Breathe, Deirdre

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 9:24AM EST
D,

I agree that SNF was a super soundtrack.

some really memorable movie soundtracks for me would have to include:

The Natural
Gone With the Wind
Meet Me in St Louis
Holiday Inn
The James Bond tracks
Spartacus
Schindler's List
etc...

not sure how many of these started as Broadway shows, but I intentionally left out the ones I know were, and of course there's many of those....

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:25AM EST
Wait a minute Deirdre. You watch other channels behind my back other than Y&R, Bold & The BEautiful, Guiding Light, and ATWT. You think you know a person (rolling eyes)!

Posted by: Eve07 on October 24, 2007 9:26AM EST
D, didn't the real Roman finally come back playing another character?

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 9:28AM EST
I also like the Theme from The Deer Hunter....beautiful ditty called 'Cavatina'

Posted by: Deirdre on October 24, 2007 9:29AM EST
RC...all original and great choices!!!!

shay...I used to watch Days but it went so far over the top that I got disgusted and left. I've always watched Guiding Light! I don't think you are even close to old enough to remember this but my college roommate was on Guiding Light in the 70's. She played Pam Chandler opposite Dr. Tim Ryan who was played by Jordan Clark who is now Billy Lewis! Breathe, Deirdre!

Posted by: RC on October 24, 2007 9:30AM EST
OK , so I'm an hour behind on the topic....

lol....just chalk it up to being old enough to join the AARP

Posted by: shay on October 24, 2007 9:31AM EST
Dang! I only know the current Billy Lewis. O.k., so yo
